EX TK. There was a youtube video on page 15 of this thread, back in January, where you could see it was clearly faster. That video has been removed from youtube. I think the buff was also removed since nobody has mentioned it since, but I haven’t seen a single EX TK in the newer vids to confirm.
I switched from Rufus to Viper because I knew Rufus was getting nerfed and I knew Viper would get buffed… and they nerfed the +frames on blocked BK? Goddamnit, I don’t want to get DPed for that shit… Please be like -1 or 2. 3 and we start getting into ‘herpxx derp fadc ultra’ territory.
very bad news guys. I have a friend who works for Gamerbase Manchester over here in the UK. He is actually playing SSFIV right now on XBL (he’s in training mode) I asked him if Viper’s Cr Forward hits from the toe. The answer is no!!! WTF!? All she has got is nerfs. They haven’t fixed what clearly needed to be fixed. I think they would have mentioned buffs in the latest blog if she had any. So I’m assuming that she hasn’t got any. Cr.Mp doesn’t change anything. The only thing I can think of is that in Vanilla SFIV after a SJC LK BK you could cr.MP the opponents next move for counter hit (because of the frame advantage that has now been reduced) The new data on her Cr.MP could negate the frame advantage lost from her BK’s, but I doubt it’s been buffed in terms of frame data. It sounds like they mean it’s gained more priority to me. I’m actually gutted about Cr.MK
For fucks sake…that really has pissed me off. if anything this is the ONE THING SHE NEEDED AND WE WANTED AT LEAST. after i have my playthrough with her this week and end up coming to the conclusion that shes ass, im just gonna choose ibuki. am really dissapointed.
Yeah I’m disappointed too. I’ll be playing it this Saturday. We’re having a New Characters only tournament at Gamerbase. I can’t use Viper in the tournament but I can play her in casuals. I’ll test as much as I can. I’ve asked my friend if she can be DP’d if they block her BK’s but he hasn’t replied. I think every Viper player would be really happy if they just left her alone and gave her the proper hitbox on Cr.MK.

do low trajectory sj bk both lk, mk and hk veriosns, and have boxer c.lp after block, see if viper can still throw without getting jabbed out (currently ryu cannot jab her out, im assuming ryu’s jab speed is same as boxers
and do a regular lk bk, and have ryu block then mash reversal dp to see if its safe/unsafe. or better yet have gief mash 360 and have viper jump away or back dash
currently its a 0 frame adv/disadv so u cant punish the bk
but yea im expecting no fix on c.mk, addition to tk recov, bk recov
Ultra and combo damage reduction
You already have TK recovery on your list, but specifically see in Zangief can reversal SPD you after a MP TK now.

I had a feeling Rufus wasn’t going to get nerfed much. Rufus is a hard character to nerf without making him absolutely terrible because he’s not quite as branched out in his specials and options with them as a character like Viper. It’s really easy for one small change to Rufus to completely change the way he is played for the worse for those that like to use him. If I was a Rufus player I’d pretty much stick with Rufus unless you’re bored with him. I’ve talked with people and most consider him an early shoot for top tier in the new game. Rufus virtually almost didn’t get nerfed at all.
Didn’t the blog say they nerfed the damage of his dive kick and ex-snake?
That’s not really a nerf in a game where damage has been nerfed on everything any ways. j.HK to EX snake strike still does almost the same damage it used to and nerfing the damage on his dive is like nerfing the damage on his c.LK. The new game is going to be more about stun building than damage so as long as his BnB’s do similar damage and raise the same stun Rufus has nothing to worry about. Dive didn’t even do much damage and the utility of the dive is still completely intact. Being able to link into s.LK, s.HP for near 300 damage BnB’s and a knockdown that can set up for more of the same or ultra if they are close to the corner. Unlike Viper where the utility of one of her only safe pressure tools on block has been toned. That’s almost as bad as making dive kick less safe on block. Almost.
I’ll say one thing…if u are leaving Rufus for Viper it’s not really greener on the other side. You’ll be more effective from a distance but your offensive pressure really isn’t going to be that much stronger as a Viper player especially with these damned scrub catering nerfs.
I don’t where they got those complaints from. Must be from terrible players who are sore losers and complain when they lose to Viper, just because they fight her so rarely online. Since you fight her so rarely, do you think your claims are really true? That’s like me wanting them to nerf Gen heavily because every time I fight one online which is so rare, that i always get my ass handed to me.
I was upset because I felt like I was getting the cmk xx feint overhead/throw/instant burnkick and stuff down. Rufus just wasn’t as fun. If they aren’t buffing her footsies or damage and giving her stupid nerfs, I’ll stick with the Fatty I guess. I guess it depends if they can herpderp into ultra after a blocked knuckle/burn kick. if thats the case, work won’t be worth the reward.
its good that we got former to do some testing, we really needed someone like Alioune who’s doing it for the sagat forum.
Alioune was able to discover new AS combos, as well as s.hk cancel etc.

Yeah I’m good as long as the burn kicks aren’t going to get me herp derped on block. If she’s only +2 or near zero on block then I guess it becomes more of a 50/50 thing now which means they HAVE to buff her footsies otherwise even more characters won’t be worth the risk of using burn kick on. Blanka and Gief already kill burn kicks as it is in those specific matchups. We don’t need more characters that make the risk unnecessary.
I’m going to start a trend with herpderp xx ultra, I swear. It’s the best way to explain jabx2 DP fadc, short x3 TU etc, easy hitconfirmed big damage.
High damage was one of the reason to pick her in sf4. Why not in Super ?
Ibuki does not seem to me the same high risk/high reward type of character. She seems to have really good fondamentals and a vortex. An akuma type character, minus the zoning, with target combos instead of universal links.
Yeah C.Viper will still be among one of the highest damaging characters in the game but with such a lack of fundamentals I just think it’s dumb to spend so much time on a character that can a lot of damage but has to work her ass off just to get in a good position to do it. Especially against characters that can consistently keep her out of a range to do so.
I’m in that state of mind. I’ll continue to play her as a secondary because I have invested so much time, but my training sessions will concentrate on a character that has a better return on investment, especially after seeing that she will be nerfed.
