C.Viper changes/alterations

Back dashing after a blocked MP TK is still a fine decision even against a non DP spamming player. If you don’t have meter to ex seismo it gets you out of a 50/50 with a beefy damage character. I’d don’t know about you but I don’t want to spend a ton of time in 50/50’s against beefy characters if I don’t have meter. I don’t want to be in that guessing game when in that situation a character like Sagat or Ryu has to guess right dramatically less frequently to come out ahead in those situations damage wise. You are at -1 so you are indeed at a disadvantage and there is no reason you should be that scared to backdash in that situation. It’s not what you would do after all of them, but you don’t do anything 100% of the time in a 50/50.

Yeah the whole backdashing is part of the reason why Viper ultimately loses those matchups. You have to backdash when you are pressuring the opponent. I haven’t played too many fighting games other than this where you have to stop your offense by forcing yourself to lose position against the opponent. Makes no sense. Against characters like Ryu and Sagat you don’t want to put yourself in situations where you will lose the footsie battle more than you already do. Sure if they have meter you get yourself out of a 50/50 but now you are within prime footsie range for those characters. So you backed yourself away from shoryu FADC Ultra to basically be in position to not be able to get in for a while.

Ultimately Viper is not allowed to pressure like most characters are able to pressure if they were in any other SF game because of loose ass blockstrings and safe shoryus. So you have to do all of this baiting and feinting against characters like Ryu and Sagat and being like El Fuerte instead of really pressuring people for sitting on block and c.MK. I really hope Ibuki has a better close up game than Viper. Tired of getting in just to get out it’s such a fake play style.

Fix her focus attack its garbage!

Ibuki is gonna eat just as much on the offense, what will make her better is viable pokes and ease to land ultra/ big damage. Ibuki was so close to being good in 3s but they tacked on all these animation frames which look cool but make her die to c.mk’s. Sadly Ibuki will prolly shine on the kunai runaway

Sometimes(…) when Capcom buffs/nerfs I wonder if they even have andy clue what they are doing, or if they just stare at a page of frame data and tinker with things like that. Like what about viper mp tk would even remotely warrant a nerf? Geh, I mean if they buff her normals Ill shut up, but I have not head any of that.

I don’t think it’s fair that she can cancel normals into her thunder knuckle. I think this should be removed and it would make her all around more balanced.

With the focus system being redone and the mechanics being rebalanced with an emphasis on offense, frames being added and subtracted can only be expected. I’m sure the overall picture makes sense. Besides, it wouldn’t make sense to nerf one of the most offensive characters when you want to emphasize offense. Just a thought…

I think all her specials should only do grey damage. That would make her less cheatz.

It looks like her second ultra does very little damage compared to her first. Unless this is from an old build and they’ve changed it, I have to wonder what would be the reason for people to choose her U2.

Keep in mind that Viper didn’t have a full(slightly over half) Revenge gauge when she did that Ultra, plus characters take less health when low on health due to “guts.”

well im just thinking if the hp and mp tk are +1 recov…does that make that that much different?

It’ll be -2 on block, not much difference(except Gief will be able to punish it on block with SPD >_<) but it’s not the what, it’s the why. If the rumors are true, then why did HP TK’s start-up get increased by one frame and why did MP TK’s recovery get increased by 1 frame? It doesn’t really make sense.

Or perhaps they want to focus on the new characters namely Juri.
Shes the new female characters and it seems like the story revolves around her. Along with that, ibuki is somewhat a replacement for viper…

No she’s not. That’s about as dumb as saying Makoto is a replacement for Abel.
