C.Viper changes/alterations

I guarantee you even waiting for shoulder level will constitute you dropping an Ultra. In like 80 percent of situations you’ll get an ultra but there’s those random times where it just won’t hit because you’re playing SFIV. I would pick up Rufus if it wasn’t for the fact that I thought his playstyle was completely one dimensinal and boring. Dive dive dive dive dive dive into shit. Then random j.HK. Then dive dive dive random c.HP. Dive dive dive. Then when you got the mix up going random JESUS KICKS! Bleh…like most of the cast isn’t even thinking when they fight.

Without solid reversal options and lame frames on her pokes…hell yeah.

2 of my main complaints are that her get off me moves don’t hit low opponents.
Ex burning kick completely whiffs against a low opponent, and fierce TK also whiffs miserably against pokes, such as cr.mk.
And why the hell can’t we follow up after ex burning kick? I hope they allow us to combo of it in SSf4. I really don’t see why the ex of a move should kill combo ability. Right now it’s only good as a defensive tool. Also why the -6 frames on block? I mean come on, the ex version lagging more than the normal one?

The ultra is also kind of annoying as there are different timings/hit boxes for each set up for the ultra to hit PER CHARACTER (can’t seem to connect seismo medium tk ultra on some chars). But i guess that’s part of learning the character.

Oh yeah her stun is a bit crazy imo. Dizzying almost everybody like it’s no one’s business after 2 3 hit combos seems overkill to me.

Just hope she doesn’t get nerfed/easier to play/overpowered. In an IGN interview, i heard Seth Killian say that she was looking strong, along with chun-li and rose.

Lol actually from what i have read,having a child depete’s a woman in a way some never fully recover from.

Chun Li needs a buff either way. She’s just not strong like she used to be in ST. She works but I never fear that character ever. Even with Ultra unless you’re a fireball character she doesn’t have much to seriously threaten you with. She plays similarly to her ST counterpart but without the damage output and is completely free to ceratin jump ins and on her wake up she is trash. She needs to have more options to scare people with and not be a paperweight when knocked down. Her offensive game wasn’t strong enough (can’t even combo into Ultra right) to put her ass up in the air whenever she gets knocked down. Especially when other characters like Honda who are much more of a chore to land hits on enough to scare them just beat wake up games for free.

Chun’s actually really really good, but she does need a more reliable ultra setup. Make her current setups universal and I guarantee you’ll see her a lot more as a threat.

Her wake up options are shit when she doesn’t have ex. Even with better ultra setups, as long as people can get in free hits on wake up, she will have a lot of problems.

  • to have a bit more stam. The honda/shoto/sagat matchups are just a little unreasonable. Why reward people who just mash out of setups with SRK or some auto correcting crap?
  • fix her hitboxes. my neutral roundhouses go through crouching characters far too often and jumpining roundhouse oddly just rubs against people sometimes.
    -like others, I have to complain about the ultra’s hitbox. Her ultra is so punishable, it should be easier to land and not SO character specific. Why should a AA knuckle to ultra whiff? The Viper read the jump…and should be rewarded a near guaranteed punish just like ryu for doing so. The ultra should land if the other character is in the air ANYWHERE between her head and feet in a combo.

  1. They just need to fix the auto correct shit. She doesn’t need more HP
  2. Yeah, some hitboxes are retarded, like ex burning kick which goes over crouching opponents, even if you use it in a combo
  3. I agree with the ultra but not because of AA>Ultra. I wish the explosion would hit a bit higher. It’s kinda annoying when depending on the character you’re playing against, you have to wait one more split second or one less split second. Also, the ultra hitting a bit higher would make it more viable as an anti air.

Thanks for agreeing with most of what I said. 2 and 3 were my main gripes (1 was only dependent on SSF4 nerfs or a VERY slight increase, but not necessary) and I was just using the AA knuckle to ultra as an example because it should be free damage but because the ultra’s hitbox is so strange and character specific…it whiffs sometimes.

I do however think Viper’s ultra is a bit too powerful along with her other tools to be using as a direct AA punish for full damage…she isn’t El Fuerte.

Maybe a FEW less to make it more able to use in mixups or wakeup escape. I mean, it does fly across the entire screen for a free ultra or whatever you want.

Full screen to stun doesn’t mean anything when its got no invincibility or armor and starts up slow as shit. It has one very situational use in competitive play and that is to punish a predictable Akuma air fireball. Even then the timing and spacing are strict so its probably not worth it unless you’re just going for a Hail Mary.

You don’t get the hits from full screen, thats the point. I was just suggesting it not be as strong as say, Bison’s EX scissor? so to not take out TOO many frames. One thing I actually like about Viper and I think is needed with her is if you mess up her inputs for her strongest block strings/combos you get two main awful and highly punishable actions: Ex knuckle and hp knuckle.

then why mention connecting to ultra if you plan to get no hits off of it? I hope you are not talking about using it as a wake up escape (prof pretty much sums it up in his post) and I don’t even understand what you are trying to say now.

EX Thunder knuckle should get armor to make it a high risk/reward move due to viper’s hp. Also less startup frames is not asking too much. It still shouldn’t be able to be comboed into but it should at least let us punish a predicted sweep/fireball/whatever
