How was the tourney today guys?
Facebook advertising isn’t enough, especially for fighting games. You really need a weekly ranbat thread in the tournament section.
A good way to get more setups is to wave venue fee (if there is one) for those that do bring setups.
Recording is great too but it might be better to do streams if at all possible.
Advertising on craigslist and such may be okay, but you really need to just reach out to people you know in general. The session I was at tonight was like 10 strong… so theres def players now.
Also advertise more in store for it and do things like sessions on wednesday nights or something.

sorry about the format for prizes last time, im doing this pretty much completely out of pocket and only took out of last time to cover my own expenses. it was the first one i did there and the 5$ venue fee really is hard to work out of when you gotta pay off your own shit.
im not gonna bitch about my financial situation as i know we all have problems, ill just say i only covered myself last time.
for chairs…thats not me thats the venue so go to facebook and talk to them on that, but i did let them know its a problem.
ill just say that anyone whos dedicated and willing to bring equipment would be greatly helpfull, as what little profit i make AT ALL is going straight back to running my events. I made 30$ last time (just covering my fees to get there and run it for the day AND INCLUDES selling my own soda) and even that is entirely going to a copy of SFXT to run this weeks event.
for SFXT im gonna definitely have a better pot together and im buying the game straight out of pocket.
For the tourneys we have personal advertising (i make sure URI games club people know and spread the word), the buttonmashers facebook page, and the shoryuken pages youre currently sitting in.
as for my setup for the brackets, yes i have a challonge account and i really dont trust it. more than once ive ran it and its crashed and ive lost brackets mid event.
but im using a personal program atm for something im gonna do during the week and it seems to be more reliable
for streams, thats a definite for what we wanna do. anyone with a capture card would be held as a god if they could set up with us.
like i said i have no money so i dont have money for equipment (especially not if we want a bigger prize pool, once again sorry about that folks) so i think our best course of action is for people here to communicate and we can set alot of this up.
ill finish up by saying sorry for last time and any input is very helpfull from you guys, im brand new at this and my only reason for running this stuff is to bring us all together as a community and just have some fucking fun 
SFXT tournament is Saturday, im going to pick up a copy right after i post this and go sell some crap to afford it.

I’ll have a game and through guys at the store we have atleast 1 setup available.
as for Tv’s and the complaints about lag or w/e we have whats there. Feel free to bring your own setups, i’m happy to accomodate.
To help you guys out i wont take anything off the pot and all i ask is you buy some crap off of me (soda/water) to help me cover my own shit 
Also what we can do is charge more for entry (im sure 5$ for venue will be standard) so would 15/20$ be affordable for people?

it was your first time doing an event there it ran alright considering there was only 1 tv
the tv did have some lag which is a problem but as long as u fix the way prize structure works and people can bring some setups there wont be an issue
5 for venue and then 10 to the pot is really the standard these days.
yeah i figured.
ive only ran MTG events before this (drafts and such) so video game tourneys will take me a couple events to get use to.
but yeah probly just gonna say 5 venue 10 pot. i can cover myself selling sodas from now on so i wont need to scrape after the last one.
i just got a copy of the game (omgwtfcrosscounter) and one thing that occurred to me is how we do gems.
anyone know what other tourneys have done in the case of gemming prematch?
Yeah, Gems shouldn’t be used at all. Simple. That’s how the past Big Two and Wednesday Night Fights did it.

Exactly. Even back in the day there was basically a venue fee especially around here. But if the venue is good thats no problem at all.

Hey what’s up guys? Just wanted to stop through and post up the info for the 2012 EVO Midwest Championships (MWC). That’s right, we are an EVO qualifier this year, and are looking to make this the biggest MWC yet!
