I was wondering if there were any videos? That would be cool.
Thanks. I was under the impression you had an active account with Challonge! Based on the format you’re currently using, I guess that means you haven’t registered.
If you’re planning on doing events like this on a regular basis, it would be more effective to register (especially since it’s free). thus allowing you to post results for the featured games in a timely fashion for all.
Just a suggestion.
Hey for the next time maybe just do $5 venue and $10 for the pot and let the money go back to the players.
It probably sounds kinda shitty but I left cuz we were running on 1 (probably laggy) setup, no chairs cept the futon and because what I thought was a $10 tourney turned out to be a $3 to the pot tourney, with $5 for venue and $2 for who knows what. I was down to play but I didn’t wanna spend like 4 hours for a $3 tourney.
Having some of the pot money go to a sort of ‘pool’ to buy some equipment for the store to run more tourneys is fine but not when its $2 out of $5. Just a full $5 to the venue and $10 for the pot, is the average that everybody expects to pay for a tourney and it would make everything better and lure some stronger players from Mass.
I’m just trying to make some suggestions cuz I would like for Button Mashers to have more tourneys, I have no problem with more tourneys where I can drive 10 minutes and be there.
This.
I agree Will and your suggestions are fine. For myself i put it in perspective. Being the first or one of the first fighting tournaments they have hosted, i didn’t expect a big turnout or pot. I was just going looking to support the scene, play some games and meet some cool people. Which i did and it was a good time. Whether the pot was $10 or $100 it didn’t matter to me that day. Like you said though, i hope the kinks can get worked out to better benefit the players for the future tournaments they will have.
Hey guys, just wanted to cover a few topics. I’m a volunteer at buttonmashers and help them out whenever I can, and I’d really like to see the RI scene come out so take from this what you will.
I’m not sure what the situation with the money is, but I think that the money should all go back to the players. As far as dipping into the pool money for equipment?, I can bring setups, and I’d assume I’m not the only one who’s willing to do this. Basically, just ask. I’d of been happy to bring a CRT/ASUS HDMI Monitor if I knew they were needed.
How was the tourny being advertised? Was it just facebook only? I didn’t see a thread in the listings section (am i just missing it?) If you’re not doing that, you might want to. Maybe reach out to eventhubs and craigslist as well.
We can record matches, I actually brought a guy who was going to record some from the sfae tourey but we came late because I wasn’t sure when it was actually starting and weren’t able to record any.
Chairs and other stuff can most likely be handled, just give some notice.
We recently had a SSBM tourney and the turnout was at least double the SF one, lots of people brought setups, and there where a lot of people helping out. There’s no reason to do everything yourself when there’s plenty of people that want to help, getting a little community together would really only add to getting this stuff kickstarted
Hey I’m from R.I as well (woonsocket area) as well as a few of my friends. We usually just play together and have been waiting for a spot in RI to hold sessions have tournaments and we’re definitely going to hit up the tournament on the 17th.Speaking of you should post a tournament thread in the tournament forums as well as post the tournament in local threads like the Boston thread or the GU thread if you already haven’t.
I hope this can boost our states level and do big things for the future.
For those who have went: How’s the venue itself?
So is there a UMvC3 tourney tomorrow?
I don’t really care about that game but do you guys mind if I bring two setups for AE? Depending on the timing, I might have SFxT ready too.
