That is how I have my buttons mapped too.
Even though I never played before, the assists seemed very awkward with the default layout. Therefore I changed to:
L M P1 _
H S P2 _
Even though I still have a hard time using assists ;p (I still hit the 4th column instead of the 3rd -.-) but I think overall it is good, and better than the default. However, if I can get used to the assists in the default controls, I may change back… so right now I am really confused and not sure if I should continue with the layout that I’m playing back or switch to another layout.
I’m using
:l::h:
:s::a1::a2:
I’m finding this a lot more comfortable to use than the MvC2 layout which I used at first.
L H A1
M S A2
that’s how I have mine. just use to having a jab (light) where it is like the standard SFIV and MvC2 jab usually is.
I find this layout (on TE) works well for me.
:a1: :l: :h:
:a2: :s:
It took me a while to get used to it, but I am just using type B on my stick.
Likewise.
Type B is best, IMO.
L m h
s a1 a2
Question for people who are using the
L H xx xx
M S xx xx
setup.
Do you just use your index for L and M and middle to cover H and S? As that is what seems most natural to me when attempting go for this.
I was using type B for a while, but at some point it just feels like there is a more efficient button layout, so I’m trying this MvC 2 -esque layout.
The bottom line is: whatever is comfortable to you is best.
Main draws for the standard/default stick layout: linear attack buttons, easy xfactor
Main draws for MvC2 layout: marvel style two ‘strong’ finger layout, with no roaming, trailing finger for assists
I use the MvC2 layout, bc have played it for years and I’m used to operating my whole offense from the ‘home’ position (left 2 columns with thumb, index, middle) while using my trailing fingers to hit the assists. This muscle memory is so ingrained that it doesn’t make sense to change it.
Bumping this thread cause I’ve been seeing lots of posts and even mods mention that the standard layout for a stick is layout B from the game.
I don’t think its a good idea to define what’s the "standard"
This is the first VS game without an arcade background and I think we can explode mapping a lot.
I hope this thread can raise more awareness of different layouts.
I personally think that Layout B is really uncomfortable with the assist positioning.
I suggest this method (Same I posted in the OP)
M H A1
L S A2
Layout B feels right at home if you’ve ever played anime games. In the end it’s down to preference. Coming up and trying to promote 3 or 4 different layouts is just gonna make buttons checks all the more annoying.
Is it frowned upon, in general, to map L+M+H to one of the buttons (like LB, for example) to make dashing easier? Or is this another one of those “if you prefer it then go for it” type of things?
Also, do you think the Arcade version (whenever it is released) will have all eight buttons we see on a TE stick or just the first six? I’m just curious.
There is a defined standard layout. You don’t have to use it, but there is one.
anyone use pad
i use this
MH
LS
(A = low B = Med C = Hard, B = Special)
think of the Y and B buttons as hard punch and kick, if u use pad for mvc2 it would be
LP HP
LK HK
L H A
M S A
I’m obviously a mvc2 player and this was the closest I could get… works great for me…
Some players like to switch the M and L around but I prefer this one. Assists are same as mvc2, launch is the same place, easy two finger slap for an xfc…
I’m surprised more people aren’t using this.
Having trouble getting started any suggestions?
Granted that this game came out a while ago, I’m just now able to play it a few days ago and I’m struggling with the buttons. Now, I wasn’t one of those people that played TvC, so I’m sure that’s why I’m behind. I came straight over from MvC2. Config A just feels wrong and Config B is not like MvsC2 contrary to what the guides say. If I set them up this way, then I lose the ability to dash correctly. While I have no trouble executing the specials and supers, I am having a hell of a time just doing normal stuff.
Trying to get use to the :s: button is proving difficult. As well as switching out my characters. Holding down an Assist button just doesn’t sit well with me. It seems slow. So how have you guys set your buttons up for efficiency?
Default.
A B C
E A1 A2
As a street fighter 4 and BlazBlue player I have my stick set up as:
L, M, H, A1.
S, X, X, A2.
Put anything you want in X and X. Player record/ replay. X factor, dashing. Etc.
This layout gives my plenty of space for combos and allows me to hit my assists comfortably with my little finger.
