Button Mapping Discussion Thread

MvC2 Layout FTW

L H 1
M S 2

That’s been working for me on the fight pad. Haven’t gone back to the stick yet, but I’ll probably stay with this. Having the assist buttons close to the H makes Cross Combos easier and having the L in the same spot as “Jab” doesn’t make my Street Fighter brain explode.

L M H
E A1 A2

Everything else is for losers.

Since reading this thread I’ve changed my mapping to:

M H A1
L E A2

It has really improved my timing, thank you for this thread.

My Layout is
:m::h::s:
:l::a1::a2:

Works pretty well for me.

Been using the MvC2 layout for now, seems to work best. Raging demon comes out just the way it’s supposed to with that layout :slight_smile:

Gonna try using the palm method for XFC, but so far it doesn’t seem to be something I would need to do ultra quickly, so I can always claw it.

3 pages.

Blazblue/Guilty Gear button layout must be mind blowing.

I’ve tried all the different layouts listed here and this feels best to me… I have easy access to all the buttons, xfactor is no issues and thumb access to both assists. Finally getting to use those last buttons on my TE.

hey, so can you confirm that there is the ability to one button dash in mvc3? In mvc2 for xboxlive, they removed that feature , so that is why i am asking.

okay, nevermind, i’ve read the rest of the tread, looks like you can.
also, it looks like you dont need to have a macro to fly like u did in mvc2.
anyone know about doing storms LA, can u macro that?

Using an Xbox controller initially to get the feel, I’ll probably do it as such:
X -> L
A -> S
B -> H
Y -> M
RB -> S
RT -> Assist 2
LB -> X-Factor (L+M+H+S), if impossible, then just L+M+H
LT -> Assist 1

Assists on triggers will help my mind rationalize it, especially going left -> right with 1 -> 2. It’ll be easier reference for myself I think. Have we confirmed/unconfirmed that we can/cannot use a button just for X-Factor (L+M+H+S)?

If it is impossible, my RB/LB triggers are setup to easily allow for X-Factor so I don’t have to re-arrange and mash the pad if necessary.

I really like this idea. My only issue is the versatility and compactness of the standard 6 button layout. Also from experience the more button checks you have to do in tournaments the longer they take, so I try to be efficient.

Currently using:

L M H
E A1 A2

As a SSF4/BB player, and not a MvC2 player. I found it works the best to not fumble with the priority or placement of the attack buttons, that it feels more natural to to from light -> medium -> heavy. And with BlazBlue I used Drive where Exchange is, so it feels right. I’m getting used to using assists there, but I’m sure there will always be some kind of curve.

On the same coin I can see why people like the other style, this is one of the first games in a long time where button mapping isn’t entirely obvious or clear, so I think we’re going to get a lot of dissection on the topic and it’s just going to be what people are comfortable with

How to set up control scheme on fightstick?

I need help setting it up. There is no kick buttons for the bottom row. Only a general “attack” thing. Can someone please tell me a great control scheme to set? I’m already confused lol.

Tell it to me like this:

S M H A1

S M H A2

Something like that. (top row and bottom row)

Already a thread on this. http://shoryuken.com/f340/button-mapping-discussion-thread-265414/

whatever you want it to be.

My bad, Dawg

Alright. So I got my 8 button TE fightstick. Tell me the best layout in this format:

A B C D

A B C D

M h a1
l s a2

L M H
S P1 P2

like Blazblue Type B

This, exactly.

I’m on pad and using the default setup of

L M H
S A1 A2

I never liked MvC2 and this setup reminds me of TvC and Blazblue type B config so it works better for me.
