Dude, it’s been three fucking hours. This shit is now officially pissing me off. And now, it goes straight to the fucking web download. What the fuck, the whole point I got this disk was so that I can install it alot faster and get straight to playing, I could have been on it via the steam download already. This is bullshit.
You might as well do that…same thing happened to me, so I just put in the serial and Steam d/led it. d/l’ed faster than I thought.

I can’t even do that since it says that the steam servers are busy. This was one of the reasons I DIDN’T want to get L4D, cause of steam. I always hated this piece of digitally downloading shit. Fucking garbage ass program, bit the bullet just for L4D and now it’s showing all of it’s bullshit.

I’m telling you…that excatly what hpapened to me.
I wanted to buy the game to avoid d/l time, and I had a Best Buy discount. I popped in the CD, and it didn’t even load up. I couldn’t even go inside the disc via Explorer. What was funny…the same thing happened to me when I bought HL2: CE and DoD: Source on disc.
Valve might make good games, but their distribution sucks dick. Apparently what you’re going through is not uncommon,you should tell valve about it, though I hear their Support sucks.
I reinstalled steam, except now it needs to update but can’t cause it can’t connect to the steam network. Garbage.
It looks like your problem is that you simply cannot connect to Steam online…I’d just wait. I remember when Steam disconnected a few times. What was shitty was that t couldn’t play mt games because Steam was down…even in Offline mode.
I’m not gonna bitch because I got both games for $20 at the time…and I simply registered the serials via Steam, and they d/l’ed my copy.
I did mention this to Valve support about my disc copies…which led me to buy the Orange Box through Steam, since I figured that getting the hard diac would be useless.
Anyone else having objects in the game “fade” in? Like boxes or trees just fade in when i move through the level. It’s not really a problem, but it’s a little distracting.

I honestly don’t know. All i know is that objects just fade in and out when depending on how close i am to them. Sorta like they pop in.
Should i try adjusting the filtering?
Never had objects, but my draw distance is farther than the director can put zombies in, so sometimes I see zombies pop into the map as we’re walking forward.
Just got the game in today, survived being puked four consecutive times in relatively short order only to be :r::r::hp: off the roof by a tank. It was way too funny to get mad at over though.

I was playing campaign earlier today, and got raped bad. Smoker x Boomer xx Hunter + Horde combo. I thought that only happened in Versus mode.
The videos I’ve been seeing make me want to go out and buy a 360 and this game…but is there an option for xbl where you can pay monthly so that it totals 50 bucks by the end of 12 months (I can tolerate that…the fee would be almost nothing monthly), or do the greedy bastards want it all up front?
Why not just upgrade your PC or build a new PC to play this?
the filtering only affects the sharpness of the textures from the distance, not the objects itself. I think if you didn’t download any special tweaked cfgs then it’s pretty much normal within the game.
