Busted or Bust, lets bet on who/what ends up being broke

EDIT - Ignore me, thanks crimsonspider.

Ammy’s is non instant and why use that when you can use Cold Star for lockdowns?

Morrigan’s is instant.

I don’t know if I can fully agree about Strange. He definitely looks dope, but with the volatile nature of his game, I don’t know how many players will be able to prove that he deserves a top spot. Kinda like Viper for a different reason.

In order to make Strange work, you have to really be a beast at setting up traps and trick shots. Shit like Mu-12 in BBCS and her Stein Gunners.

Sent from my Gundam. In space. Beefin’.

Strange’s traps are another element of his gameplay, but overall, he probably has the most options in the game to keep you at bay in multiple projectiles (one that tracks and another with some of the highest durability in the game which you can even angle), a unique hyper that counters projectiles, a near-instant hyper that tracks anywhere, and he’s looking to have some solid combo potential as well.

his game won’t necessarily revolve around the Grace of Hoggoth setups imo. how to utilize his mobility in conjunction with his multi-purpose projectiles will be more important. for instance, stuff like start of round throw (hard knockdown), L/M Daggers, crossup teleport for a self left-right mixup will be more important than just randomly super jumping without calling assists and putting glyphs on the screen.

Yeah, he really seems to be an everything character. If you want someone to do something different with mid-match, it looks like the Doctor might be a good fit. Teleport mixups, traps, combos, keep-away, etc.

Let’s just hope his completely absurd size doesn’t hinder him.

The meter build is really overrated. Yeah, you get 30%, but on the other hand you can pick a good character with a good assist that leads to mix-up/damage and get a combo that nets your team much more than just 30%.
Even for zoning characters, I’d rather have an assist that complements my point character’s zoning.
As long as ridiculously strong teleport characters are still in the game, zoning characters are not going to run away.

As a point character, Morrigan is probably going to be no higher than D. Anybody who plays Morrigan RIGHT NOW knows how much the no block-air dash nerf completely destroys her game. She has no ground dash. That means against a lot of characters she can only WALK or super-jump to get in.
She has no way to catch run-away. She has no defense against rushdown. She has no way to approach zoning characters. She does no damage. She can’t even properly zone because her Soul Fists are slow and have only 5 low durability points.

can’t morrigan shadow blade rush down from the air then flight cancel into a.combo and a full invincible hyper

that’s more than a lot of other characters have against rush down

I used to think that way too, but when you think of it Raccoon playing like Cable would be illogcial. People don’t seem to realize that Megaman isn’t in this game and Arthur sucks simply because keepaway and small hitbox are 2 things that are extremely difficult to put together; a character with a small hitbox has such a huge advantage defensively that I can’t see a strong zoner working with a small hitbox. And Raccoon’s hitbox will be the smallest in the game by far, so there’s just no way that they can make him a strong zoner.

Actually come think of it why has nobody supported Saki being added to this game? Her design was genius, she’s like a smart man’s Cable while being rather balanced.

Against a 16 year old?

And thats not a crossup thats a mix-up, unless you’re teleporting behind with an assist in front, in which case they’re always going to super jump out of the horizontal crossup.

That shits gonna get so exposed by an instant super on reaction. I can already see people teleporting and mashing buttons because they think they have super armor, not against projectiles bitch!

Actually, I think Deviljin’s right about how good Dark Harmonizer will be. with the overall meter gain nerf, assists not allowing for anywhere near the same kind of combo extension as they do now, and possible base damage nerfs, meter gain will be a lot less from combos. Also, with keepaway being made into a valid tactic, supplying full screen easy meter rapidly for those devastating beams will be really good.

She’s certainly not going to be anywhere near the rather capable anchor she is right now though, so as good as that assist will be, I’m not sold on it being worth a team spot just yet.

I have no bloody idea what the hell you’re trying to say. I’ll say this though - rushdown characters, are, for the most part, not a problem for Morrigan. Her current problem match ups are almost all other keepaway characters, and those are going to be more prevalent, and even worse for her.

The problem isnt that Morrigan has a weak airdash. It’s that Morrigan is a slow shoto with low damage and no beam super. Not that she needs a beam super, but she is in fact a shoto.

So she’s forced to rushdown but she doesnt have the tools. And her command throw sucks.

Instead you have to rely on shenanigans and being annoying with fireball spam, which isnt really worth the effort when there are character who can do it much better.

If anyone should have gotten brand new moves it should have been morrigan. And I would have given her some kind of illusion/teleport where she turns into all those bats. Or at least the abilty to clone herself. Or ever her valkyrie drill dash so she could work some M. Bison esque headstomp crossups. She’s so slow that her dark illusion hyper gives no kind of mixup, just easier fireball flight cancel spam.

Shes still not as bad as Arthur or Hsien Ko. Haggar and Viewtiful Joe are better tho.

The funny thing about strange is I bet he ends up being like Wolverine, he has a pretty decent tool set but of his moves, a couple of those tools outshine everything else so much that he ends up looking really simple.

Throw tracking disk > teleport is gonna be flowchart strange I think. If it hits, lead into a combo, if not, do some normals, call assist, throw disk, do it again. Atleast homing orbs with phoenix were slow, the L disk is fucking fast. I’m not sure where people get off saying he looks hard. That one combo was like ABCS j.ABC impact palm over and over lol

Firebrand is either going to be mediocre or awesome… I’m leaning towards mediocre though. His air normals look pretty small and he his fireballs also don’t look to do a whole lot. It’s like saying Morrigan has awesome air fireballs that totally run shit… I mean… I guess they’re ok. She can’t do anything off of them usually, and then she gets hit and dies. I’m kinda expecting to see strider teleport kicking the shit out of firebrand a lot.

Gotta agree with DJ on Vergil being really stupid anchor. We thought dark wesker was bad… say hello to swords and a tracking teleport… you’re getting crossed up no matter where you are.

Dorm is also going to be nasty, probably one of the better zoning characters with a more difficult to block offense. I feel like he was a bit untapped by most players in vanilla, so maybe he’;ll shine in UMVC3 with the buffs and more people picking him up.

The L disc tracks about as well as Dante’s hysteria. M version is slower than that. Not to mention he does weak chip and only has 750k life.

And every character is at neutral/slight disadvantage after teleports. Strange aint gonna be S tier.

It’s all about firebrand because he’s even better at Trish at space control at this point. Not to mention he’s going to be able to setup overhead unblockables with his level 3? lol…WHAT

Firebrand also looks to do that vanilla Morrigan damage so far.

Firebrand > Morrigan

I really don’t think Strange will be at his full potential if you play keepaway with him. He’s got the options, but once someone actually gets in (Not hard when half the top tier have teleports) he’s not the best at escaping. No airdash, no double jump, his only get off me moves have slow startup, and his only escape teleport is a risky counter. He’ll certainly be able to do it, but not nearly as well as he’ll be able to do other stuff. Just my two cents.

(Disclaimer: I know absolutely nothing about Nova or Rocket Raccoon comic-wise. Hell, I barely know about Iron Fist.)

I’ll be completely content if Strange isn’t the best of the best so long as he’s good/usable. Given that all of the new characters made for this game have the advantage of being designed around the game’s new engine changes rather than being forced to adapt to like every other character, I have no doubt he will be and that’s really all I care about.

Related to that, though, I’ll laugh if Frank West ends up trash because they spent so much time adapting him from TvC (where he also sucked I am told) and focused so much time making sure he didn’t crash the game (online) that he has nothing of actual substance once everything is said and done. It will be doubly funny given that he was saved for last and Capcom will probably troll Megaman fans again with “The Real Megabuster”.

Nah. I’ll wait until people start bitching. That will make it sweeter.

…Because of MvC2, which this game totally isn’t catering to at all with its bringing Sentinel back and making references to curled facial hair? Because he was the least busted of the top 4? Because people genuinely liked to play him?

Even though I didn’t end up using him more than Ruby Heart ultimately, to this day, Cable is one of few top tiers that I actually like/liked using since I like zoning. How knows, though. They might just bring back Cable himself in UMvC3: AE since Marvel has already said they plan to resurrect him.

Just looking at his buffs from the new change list hulk is going to a fucking force to be reckoned with, super armor on the first part of gamma charge?! More super armor on St.C, he was already goodly once he got near you and now he’s going to be better? I feel bad for everyone who doubted Hulk.

Yahyah’s avatar is awesome.

Creeper Firebrand (though, I know you where going for the whole trench coat/sunglasses thing :P).

Idk if this was a trololo but this is actually what im predicting (That they are A-ish) Vergils being overrated right now as it seems he’s got nothing close to what Dante got with Air, ground, keepaway, tracking, Invincibility, Chip, barbuilding & DMG covered (lol) + he requires a lot of meter. Strange, I just feel he’ll get the Dorm. factor as in…People thought of ways to use all his specials but he ended up being nothing like that. It seems to take a bit to long to really setup good traps with Strange.

Speculation fighter I know but still, what isn’t at this point. Both will be great though, just disagree with some putting Vergil in SS tier already. (Playing him regardless though) I hope Strange is a good anchor so I can have my Dante/Vergil/Strange team if that’ll work out lol
