ammy has shit health. okami shuffle is annoying but can be hard drived on reaction and at times trade with hsf in your favor. cold star will kill sentinels ground zoning game, but if you learn how to fly, things gets much much easier. you can psychic hsf or maybe even hsf on reaction to her cold star. once that deters her, get in and keep her pinned down.
sentinel kills wesker. he has no instant overhead combos without an assist. besides, no matter how hard wesker hits, he can’t kill sentinel in one shot.
arthur, you need to learn how to fly. on the ground, you’ll get locked down pretty easily.
dormamu vs sentinel. lets hope you didnt waste your x factor prior. in the end of the day, sentinel still wins. flight game prevails once again.
about dante: lets just say that i dont feel too bad about using sentinel when hes almost just as stupid good.
Incorrect. Wesker does indeed have instant overhead combos with no assist. And he still has one frame command grab and kara grabs too and Sent is huge so they aren’t hard to land on him.
Also Sentinal needing super to deal with a char. That’s…not good. Sentinal definitely doesn’t beat the Shinto Goddess. He may or not get destroyed free but she holds a fairly solid advantage. And why is she doing Okami shuffle randomly again? Only Super she needs to be doing randomly is Veil of Mist (Time slowdown). Yes she has shit health. Everyone has shit health compared to Sent.
Arthur and Dorm I won’t actually get into just because those were gut feelings. I don’t have any real evidence or argument. They just seem hella annoying for the mutant slayer.
I agree from playing a reasonably decent Sentinel user that Arthur has the advantage against Sentinel one on one. He definitely wins the keepaway war even without Gold Armor just because he can duck under all of Sentinel’s projectiles and then proceed to beat them with Javelins. When Sentinel jumps or flies, it’s pretty much just a matter of picking well between anti-airing him or getting under him with the Forward+Hard so that Arthur can continue his keepaway.
Of course, getting hit sucks, but everyone knew that. From experience, Sentinel generally hits my Arthur if I do something noobish like mistime a pushblock. And also I suck at dealing with various assists, such as Dante’s Jam session, especially since I’m not yet that familiar with using my own assists.
please lemme know what instant overhead combos wesker has on sentinel. only thing i can think of is jumping l into jumping s, but you cant combo anything into it afterwards without an assist. jumping h whiffs.
ammy has the second shittiest health in the game. what hurts most other characters kills her. lets face it, random okami shuffle is pretty damn good against most of the cast from the range its usually done at.
Ammy most def beats Sent. Burning supers just to get near her makes is a bad thing even though it works. Any Ammy player who knows how to use cold star and not spam all 8 hits will keep sent out all day, supers have startup frames and if you hit a character during these frames then you get no super.
Tk’ing into Hard Drive isnt hard and can be done to many moves on reaction to full screen punish and push them into the corner. That said, its about reading your opponent at that point. To be safe, i wouldn’t resort to this unless i had another bar to DHC if it fails. but considering ammy’s health, the risk may be acceptable as the reward would be, if it gets her in the corner (probably will if she’s full screen cold staring you) a follow up plasma storm and more damage if you wish to blow x factor.
from what I can gather, Doom helps well in fighting her. bring out a Molecular Sheild and have sentinel approach via wavedash or flight with that as cover. MS will eat the majority of Cold Star, and put you in a better position to punish her next move, or force her to try to escape. If I have lots of health, i dont push block sometimes because that just pushes her away. to me, even if trade MS and Coldstar its still okay because I have a lot or health for an error here and there.
someone plz verify as i dont remember right now, but i beleive from full screen, a low flight mode will avoid all versions of cold star from long range. so at the very least, you can avoid them and not take chip. random supers from Ammy to punish flight mode, obviously, can be punished with hard drive, even between hits on the ground.
as you can see, i dont mind using meter to Hard drive ammy, but just know its a risk regardless.
and how did you come to this conclusion? lemme guess, from justins ammy just like everyone else.
you dont burn supers to get close to her. you burn it to keep that bitch honest. ammy spamming cold star can be psychic supered / supered on reaction. at worst, it’ll trade in your favor. cold star doesnt stop sentinel from flying or stop him from approaching in the air. he just needs to be more careful. a lot of characters can limit his air and ground movement, shes not the only one.
supers have start up, but you’re not gonna hit sentinel out of his super with cold star, especially the range where she uses it. its not as fast as magnetos em disrupter either.
Wesker can instant overhead into super afaik, even if you block he is safe. Sentinel on my experience has trouble against anyone who has multiple instant overheads against him and a good pindown assist, it´s impossible to block the high/low mixup.
On top of that some of those characters have pretty decent zoning tools like taskmaster or deadpool.
I don´t fear ammy that much when she is full screen throwing cold shots if I have meter because she has to be careful of HSF, but she has the slow super, you cannot C beam her and when she starts pressuring you it´s over. All you can do is hope to get a random hit, when you have to rely on luck to win that´s bad.
Also if ammy has life lead you are pretty much forced to attack her because zoning her as sent is impossible.
Tbh the more I play against good players the more I wish I didn´t love his assist so much. Don´t get me wrong he´s stupid and very strong character specially due to how retardedly he can come back in one random hit, but even if he is braindead he has an uphill battle against some characters (and it´s a problem when those characters are probably top tier)
I’m curious why people think Sent beats Dormammu. I don’t have experience with the matchup, but among other things, he seems uniquely suited to deal with airborne Sentinel. Also, how does Sent do against Mags?
At worst, Ammy will just cancel into Shuffle and lolpwn you for trying that shit.
Actually I came to the conclusion long before Winter Brawl 5. I play against an Ammy everyday. Ammy can easily crossup Sent, cold star does shut down flight if timed correctly. Her low stance to the ground causes you to put Sent in bad spacing positions which he normally wouldn’t have to be in. Beads keep Sent away on the ground too easily which in turn forces you to go into flight. Sentinel is a very easy character to predict as he has only so many options. You also lose one of your best zoning tools(s.H and c.H) since Ammy can duck under both versions and continue to move forward. Ammy’s fastest move is TWICE as fast as Sents fastest move, super armor does help but many times its too slow top beat Ammys s.L. I’ve def been hit out of HSF by cold star on several occasions, but that depends on timing and spacing.
Where did you get the conclusion that Sent vs Ammy isn’t a total shitfest for Sent? lemme guess, you’re a 1st lord online and beat Ammy’s all day.
Dormammu has alot of startup on many moves and is a tall character. From full screen you can wavedash and punish if the Dorm player tries to use Purification to keep you full screen distance. This is just 1 example, busy at work can’t type that much lol
At any kind of decent range, Shuffle wins clean or trades in Ammy’s favor, depending on exact spacing and whatnot. HSF only wins at mid-screen or closer, where Ammy won’t be firing beads anyway. Or if she does, one round of them will push Sent far enough to make HSF lose.
Try wavedashing when she jumps to start spamming stuff, you may also need a good projectile/beam assist is you’re having trouble getting to her while she is on the ground. Are you using all of your options when trying to get near her? Super jump > double jump > flight, Hard Drive, assist follow-ups, laser zoning, etc. With Sents s.H he actually moves forward a little bit so use this to your advantage by using it to slowly close gaps between you and the opponent. Don’t spam it and fall into auto pilot, feel out the opponent and choose good spots to spit at them.
This has likely already been post and is likely known by most Sent players but:
Sent can neutralize Pheonix’s :h: fireballs;
with this Pheonix has no hope of running and zoning Sent regardless of Dark or Xfactored.
You can just run yourself, and what for her to slowly die:badboy:
Ok people so let’s get this part started already. So what new strats and general advice does anyone want to share about the recent nerf to sents health? Obviously you can not just throw shit out anymore and have the luxury of dropping combos and still win, many combos with higher end characters will simply kill sent. My entire basic strat has been destroyed by this(i put sent 1st on my team bc i knew that unless u had sent out 1st as well that there was nothing you could do the create 1.3 million damage) but this won’t stop me from being a dominate sent player. team combinations are now very key to a successful sent and while drones are still godly as an assist it’s alot tougher when you know that his health is nothing and basic combos will kill him as an assist. Move so now than ever is it key that you end all midscreen combos with TKRP > Hard Drive, forcing the opponent into the corner is sents specialty and is where he can create huge block strings while making advanced gurad useless. I’ll keep sharing my thoughts as I get time to get on here and type shit.
