A Deltona man is accused of hitting and choking his wife after she criticized him for not leaving enough fried chicken leftovers.
Desmond Brownlee, 45, was arrested just after 3:30 a.m. Monday at the couple’s home on Fayetteville Avenue.
He was charged with battery and tampering with a witness.
Deputies said his wife was screaming for help when they arrived, claiming her husband shoved her, hit her in the face several times then choked her until she couldn’t breathe.
When the victim tried to call 911, deputies said Brownlee took the phone from her.

I don’t really understand the fried chicken stereotype. Because honestly, everybody (who isn’t a vegan) eats fried chicken. Whites, blacks, Latinos, Asians.
The only time I don’t see whites or others groups eating at the fried chicken places, is when the restaurant is in a mostly black neighborhood.
And if the food is good enough, even that won’t stop them from coming in :lol:
The fried chicken stereotype was originally dig against Africa, because fried chicken and okra was the only ‘useful’ culinary contributions that originated from the continent. (The art of cooking food in saturated fats & oils started out in Egypt or Libya, I believe). While Europe, South & East Asia and the Arab world had experienced their own culinary renaissances, creating all sorts of dishes, Ethiopia along with the majority of Africa had been ‘stuck’ with being content of keeping fried chicken as a gourmet delicacy.
Over time, racially-motivated ignorance had misconstrued the stereotype into suggesting that black people were unaturally genetically predisposed to loving fried chicken (hence the stereotype that is used today). Meanwhile, the majority of the credit for fried chicken had been redistributed to a certain Kentucky colonel, because you know, like, Africans are way too stupid to come up with anything on their own.
Chinese also knew how to fry food, but then again, Chinese cooking is all encompassing.
