2013 just hasn’t been Florida Atlantic University’s year. With James Tracy, professors stomping Jesus, and the naming rights handed over to a prison system, the school has just fielded one scandal after another.
And now we have “JERKING_BUD.”

Yesterday, police announced 40-year-old Seth Thompson had been arrested on charges of video voyeurism. According to the arrest affidavit, the employee, who worked in the library, filmed guys in the facility’s bathroom urinating and masturbating. He then posted the clips to porn sites under the JERKING_BUD handle, catchy little numbers with titles like “A college kid and his dad taking a leak at a public bathroom” and “My buddy jerking off in the stall next to me.”

Police were tipped off about the whole thing when a student allegedly caught Thompson paying him too much attention in the bathroom one day. Another student came up to the first a few days later. A 30-second clip had been posted on Pornhub.com of the student peeing, he was told. The crime was reported to police.

So who is Seth Thompson? The man lives in Lake Worth. He worked at the university’s Jaffe Center for Book Arts as a collection specialist, according to this website. Along with fellow Jaffe Center employee John Cutrone, Thompson owns a book printing business called Convivio Bookworks based in Lake Worth.

Online, however, Thompson kept up a number of user handles on porn sites as JERKING_BUD, including Xtube.com and yuvutv.com. Following the electronic bread crumbs, police were able to trace the handle back to Thompson. When police executed a search warrant at Thompson’s home on August 14, the suspect admitted to secretly filming guys in the bathroom, then storing the clips on his FAU laptop.

“Thompson stated that he initially began recording these videos after seeing similar videos online, which gave him the impression that there are people who are enjoy [sic] viewing videos showing males masturbating and urinating,” the police paperwork reads.

“He did not believe those video recordings to be serious in nature; instead, because of the anonymity of the victims, he downplayed his actions and attributed them to mischief.”

Thompson resigned after the August sitdown with police. He now faces charges related to 13 videos. As of now, police have ID’d only one of the individuals caught on screen, so if you’re a dude who’s spent some time around the FAU library, you might want to do some awkward Googling, see if you, uh, recognize anything.

DEERFIELD (CBSMiami) — Investigators say bad blood over an employee of the month award at a South Florida Wal-Mart store led to gunfire and criminal charges.

According to a Broward Sheriff’s Office arrest report last month’s employee of the month at a Deerfield Beach Wal-Mart store on South Military Trail had her car shot up by a co-worker who was angry after she won the award. Willie Mitchell is charged with discharging a firearm from a vehicle.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office said surveillance video from a Wal-Mart parking lot shows Mitchell parking next to a co-worker’s earlier in December. A few minutes later, investigators said Mitchell rolls down a back window, fires a shot into his co-worker’s car then drives off. The co-worker was not in her vehicle at the time.

BSO Spokesperson Veda Coleman-Wright said the shooting stemmed from some bad feelings after the victim won an Employee of the Month Award.

“She was announced as the employee of the month which you would think that would be something good, people would be happy for her,” Coleman-Wright said. “But there was one employee who wasn’t happy.”

Investigators say after the award was announced Mitchell started arguing with the victim about their workload. The victim told detectives that “during the argument Mitchell told her repeatedly, ‘I’m gonna show you.’”

Hours later, BSO says Mitchell did just that. A witness told BSO that he spoke to Mitchell in his car while it was parked next to the victim’s. The witness said Mitchell “asked him if the victim was currently working to which the witness replied yes.”

BSO says minutes later the shot was fired. The victim did not want to speak on camera but CBS4′s Carey Codd saw her car window, which has been fixed.

Investigators said they’re still stumped on the exact motive for the shooting.

“Perhaps (Mitchell) wanted to be employee of the month but clearly these actions that we saw in response to this, I think we see why he wasn’t chosen as employee of the month,” Coleman-Wright said.

A Wal-Mart representative told CBS 4 News that Willie Mitchell no longer works for the company. The spokesperson also said that the employee of the month does not receive any money or gifts. She said it is strictly a recognition from the store.

MIAMI, Dec 17 (Reuters) - A Florida man walked into a convenience store with a live alligator and tried to trade it for a 12-pack of beer, according to wildlife authorities who cited him with illegally capturing the animal.

It was unclear why the man thought the clerk at the Santa Ana Market in Miami would accept the 4-foot (1.2-meter) reptile as payment, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokesman Jorge Pino said on Tuesday.

“I think that anybody who would conceive this scheme is not thinking properly,” Pino said.

The clerk called authorities and would-be customer Fernando Caignet Aguilera was cited on Dec. 10 with possessing, illegally taking and attempting to sell the alligator, which he said he caught at a park.

Each of the three misdemeanor charges caries a penalty of up to six months in jail and a fine up to $500, Pino said.

The alligator was unharmed and was released back into the wild, he said. Alligators are no longer endangered but it is illegal to take them in Florida except during a closely regulated annual hunt.

Just like the case with that Sabrina chick: once your ass is clear of danger, you don’t get to select a loadout, then GO BACK into trouble. From that point on, you’re fucking up. Dude shoulda gone to the car and waited there, away from the crowd. A white guy MIGHT have skated, but since it shows premeditation, likely not. Nonetheless, dude was wrong anyway, end of story.

the only reason I cannot accept this is because George zimmerman was following Trayvon around in his car. Unless this boy was some sort of superhuman mutant, He should not have been able to keep up with a vehicle. George then GOT OUT OF THE CAR to go follow Trayvon. A little different from the other two, but not by much. All of them could’ve reasonably gotten away from the danger IMO.

Hernando, Florida – A Citrus County man broke a month-old baby’s leg in frustration over having to stop playing video games to change a diaper, deputies said.

20-year-old Paul Lajeunesse is currently being held without bond on a charge of aggravated child abuse.

According to the baby’s grandmother, Lajeunesse – who spends most of the time at the home and does not work – had been getting upset at having to routinely change the child’s diapers, and she had worried at how he was handling the baby while doing so. The grandmother said the baby would often cry when he changed the diaper, but did not cry when she did so.

The baby’s mother lives at the home, but attends school during the day, so the grandmother is the baby’s primary caretaker.

Citrus deputies say on the afternoon of December 11, the grandmother asked Lajeunesse change the baby’s diaper. Lajeunesse was allegedly playing an Xbox game at the time and became upset that he was being interrupted.

Lajeunesse later told the Department of Children and Families that he was frustrated before attempting to change the diaper and that when he lifted the infant’s legs, he heard a pop and saw the right leg go limp.

He alerted the grandmother and the child was later taken to the doctor. X-rays showed the baby’s leg had been fractured and the child was taken to the hospital for treatment. The baby has since been released.

Lajeunesse was arrested and ordered not to have contact with the victim. It is not clear what his relationship with the child is.
