Capcom unity is the site that they ask for all the changes and shit like that. It was where a bunch of sagat posters would post and got the TK to force stand in the last update.
Boys tell me I’m not wrong in my arguments here…
You’re not wrong at all. Sagat needs a damage buff since they keep nerfing all of his zoning tools into the ground. If they don’t want him to have high damage, then they need to make his zoning tools better. Simple as that.
Thanks marz.
That’s why both of those lists fix one of the things he’s flawed in, either choice A which will fix his damage or choice be which will fix his footise and zoning. But I think it’s fair because neither change fixes both.
I’d love it if his Tiger Uppercuts popped your opponent up at the same height whether they were standing, crouching, or counter hit. I’ve lost countless matches from not being to react to which height they were at. I know I can take the F+HK out of the equation for more consistency but that can also be the difference between a win & a loss.
I like Ryan Hart’s old idea of making F+HK cause a hard knockdown.
That is tricky to get down. I just went into training and set counter hit to random and then TU FADC until I got it. But in Ultra it’s probably not even worth learning because FADC forward dash isn’t safe on block anyway and you can’t step kick after FADC back dash.
You can on counter hit
if you forward dash, react to the counter hit and either knee or ultra, f+hk if no counterhit. on backdash, react to counterhit with forward roundhouse or just plan on knee/ultra no matter what.
I know what to do in the various situations, including the timing difference if you hit them crouching. The reacting part is the issue. It’s just annoying that’s he’s the only character that has to worry about that stuff.
Very easy to fix Sagat. Increase his walk speed to around the same speed as Cody or Abel. Allow U1 and U2 to be able to connect to all characters after Ex- tiger uppercut.
By doing this, players can combo into ex-uppercut instead of blowing two bars on FADC ultra, and will save a bar for something else.
A faster walk speed would allow him to play a better neutral game and zone better even with the slower fireballs.
sagat can already link ex tu into ultra 1 on all characters…gief is probably the most difficult but if im not mistaken, the entire cast gets the TU into ultra 1 link.
Walk speed would help, but it is marginal without a decent poke. as stated earlier, either make cr mk hit at the tip or give back cancelability on standing lk.
August 8 is going to be interesting. If I were a betting man, I would wager that the retail copy will not contain balance changes, but only bug fixes. The balance patch will eventually come, but by that time, us Sagat players may be long gone, I know I will be. I hope I’m wrong here.
I’m still playing him even though I feel I can do better with other characters. I think it was Ryan Hart who summed it up best for me by saying something along the lines of " you know what your opponent will do and what the counter is but sometimes Sagat doesnt offer the solution in the game"
That’s the best way you can express Sagat. Many times I’ve thought of switching to Ryu just to express my footsies better.
Walk speed would be a huge buff. Never getting it though, sagat and the game is probably finalised.
To go 3 revisions without a decent change is a joke but what do you do. Just gota suck it up.
Highland, if you feel you could do better with other characters, why do remain loyal to Sagat? Is it because you enjoy his play style more?
uppercutoflegend, sad to say…you arent wrong buddy. I tried to dabble in other characters but i cant get myself to reinvest that much time and effort into another character, plus they all feel…funny, kinda like the hits dont have much impact or something…cant explain it. So yeah i guess im stuck with the ki…who am i kidding? the lower mid tier muay thai dude. I have also given up on trying to change things with gat…after evo i just decided that its best to let sleeping dogs lie. The hand you’re dealt and all that.
I feel you Krimzn. I was planning on switching to another character but it would just take too long to get one of my alternatives up to the level of my Sagat (and that isn’t even very high!). The combos, the footsies spacing, the matchup knowledge – that shit takes time.
Amen brother. Not to mention the fun factor. Gat is just fun to play, winning feels satisfying (though infrequent) but satisfying nonetheless (maybe it’s that whole economics theory of diminishing returns at play here) or maybe its because everything you do with gat is thought out and strategic so that when things click its beautiful.
The sad part is that Gat was pretty serious in the Japanese arcade build and they messed him up for the console release because some people were crying over it…all the while letting Thawk, evil ryu, viper etc. keep most of their buffs.
Right, flogging a dead horse again…cest la vie bredren…guess its work with what you got eh?
This is what it is. In order to beat someone at your skill level or better you have to completely outsmart them. That feels real good.
Hey Maf, whats happening? Added you on the psn, but looks like we wont be able to do the online training thing (not efficiently at least) because internet is laggy as hell and psn kinda sucks when it comes to streetfighter. Still we could give it a try and see how things go…what time are you usually online?
Pretty much the same as some of the comments. I feel like with sagat its a little bit like chess, you have to be thinking all the time, 2 or 3 moves ahead. I enjoy that challenge since half of the characters are brainless in 4.
You know when you win with Sagat
Your fundamentals were just better. I’m old school also, ground based, basic solid play is where I get my kicks.
