Buffs required to make Sagat solid in USF4

Lol, the arguments I’ve been getting into with my friends after this EVO was so typical. Their Argument, BOnchan getting 2nd makes Sagat Top tier, we all knew it was coming gents.

ha all credit due to Luffy. What amazed me is the balls on bonchan to do some of the things he did/make some of those reads/guesses.

Sagat players will know though, that there really no range where he can force his offense. Every character has some range where they can best use their tools. Grapplers its right up close, dalhsim its 3/4 screen, fei is fuudo range. with the fireball nerf sagat can’t force his effective range at all, and only can get damage by dumb mistakes from his opponent or balls out reads.

That’s why im glad that i watched the whole stream with my crew which i consider them all to be good fg players. They were all watching how godlike bonchan was playing but were still amazed at how hard he had and really noticed the time he spent corner fighting most of his top 8 run.

But luffy man. This was HIS tournament when i saw him play in the top 8, we all said it when we saw the first match.

Sagat confirmed Top Tier after Evo results. Same with Zangief.

Evil Ryu, Viper, Yun, Cammy confirmed hot-garbage tier after Evo results.

1 Tournament with so many variables is a definitive showcasing of tiers!!!

Sagat vs Rose - There’s no reason to use fireball in this MU and is actually counterproductive from her broken meter gain on each absorbed projectile. His only chance was to be in her face at all times and abuse her wakeup but FA, Backdash along with her ‘win button - St.HK’ makes this tough. Funny thing is Rose has better offence in Sagat’s face than Sagat since her ST.MK/Throw/Do nothing mixup is very strong win/win situation on Sagat since his only option is to guess correctly or to uppercut. But Kudos to Bonchan for doing so well overall!

And wtf is up with Rose’s dashup throw? Rlly???

not so much. The thing with bon is that he initially tried to zone her and get her with the slow fast tigershot to mess up her timing on the reflect or absorb. But the TS nerf may have screwed up his timing so he wasn’t getting the best of that and he was feeding her supermeter. The first few rounds were bon loading luffy up with meter and then luffy going in when he was nice and stocked and destroying bonchan.

By the time he realized that fireballs werent the answer he was kind of in the tank and even then, she mauled him in the footsie game and he had to take some big risks with TU to get any offense going. He was also starved for meter most rounds.

It looked pretty lopsided, and i’m not sure if adding MK would have made much of a difference…luffy was on point.

It beats virtually all of her best buttons besides slide.

mk definitly a must in this match up also i notice bonchan didnt really apply very many frame traps at all…hmmm…he’s still my fav gat player tho and i’ve definitly learnt alott just from watching him play.that ts nerf tho damn!!!

So i’m fighting this Fei player online and I have him in the corner. I wait for him to make a move and he panic jumps out of the corner and i had ultra 1 cued up. I let him HAVE IT…but it only connects on the first few hits where sagat goes up with his knee and the first uppercut, then Fei falls behind me and sagat stops doing the ultra. ( kinda like how he would just completely stop against rose in AE in the corner).

Ultra 1 has arrived boys…ultra 1 has definitely arrived.

Really hope they fix all these Ultra 1 issues. “You wanted full connect in corner? Well you can’t have both!”

Ultra 1 needs an entire revamp IMO. Too many bugs the way it is now.

It should be a 1-hit Ultra that activates the cinematic in it’s entirety upon the hit - just like Ryu’s U2.

amen. Other nerfs aside that’s my biggest peeve right now. What’s funny is King Blacktoof’s USF4 mod for PC got it exactly right. Juggling someone with it worked identically to Bison’s U1: once you got tagged you were grounded for the rest of the animation, and I’m fairly certain he even got the damage right too for air vs. grounded opponents. So some random PC hack was spot-on and a paid team of Devs and testers crapped the bed. Gotta love it

They wanted to reduce the distance of U1 because the felt TU xx FADC back, U1 was a little too strong/cheap/safe or whatever. I think that’s the cause of U1 acting strange.

Did Blacktooth’s mod reduce the U1 distance as well as fix the corner? If so devs should be ashamed.

Yes it did. And I thought it grounded them like Bison’s U1 but after installing it again it looks like he just does a better job of tethering the opponent to Sagat once the first hit of the U1 connects in the juggle.

Yo if you guys think these are good buffs, we gotta get them trending with capcom unity and shit.

i’d be happy with just the high TS being reverted, i’d be really surprised if capcom does anything regarding sagat change’s.
