Why is that a problem? Gouken’s anti-air does something like 220+, and besides that pretty much any character in the game can get 300+ off a jump-in.
No one’s asking for Vanilla Sagat back, so why are you acting like it’s a choice between a blatantly overpowered Sagat and the piece of trash Sagat we have now? There’s no reason why we can’t have something in-between.
I’d like to add that their are distances where you can’t even throw out FB’s. I play against a very good Eryu and he is very, very good at converting fadc through TS’s into cr.lp st.hp Eryu death combos lol
Sagat is a weak zoner in a game where zoning isn’t that strong to begin with. I play him if I feel like trying to outsmart my opponent instead of winning. Kind of like Dan almost.
But still honestly when does Gouken not have any meter. And it being frame 5 and given the buffs it received its essentially a better AA than Tiger Uppercut now and with his fireball recovery you can’t jump on Gouken.
I see Ryan Hart has tweeted that he thinks gat is weaker now and that he will play him for now until he figures who he wants to play instead… wonder if we will see more of this.
Yikes, if Ryan Hart, someone who has played gat competitively since vanilla, is considering dropping him then there’s definitely something wrong… This puts to rest any notion that Sagat is still decent.
This is actually a good thing though, because without guys like Ryan and Bonchan placing high, Capcom may notice how pathetic the character currently is.
Looking forward to the return of vanilla S. Lk in August.
I don’t know about Super, because it was a mass exodus from Sagat then, but he definitely played Sagat in Vanilla. He beat Daigo in a tourney with him (it was so hype). I saw him switch to Ryu to beat Starnab in a tourney in the Vanilla days. Shit everybody had a pocket Ryu in Vanilla.
Thanks for the link kraal. So we’ll see what Ryan Hart will do, but it seems like he is quite keen on switching to someone else.
Will there be an update in august that will tweak things here and there? Started playing last summer so I haven’t experienced a launch of SF before…
Reverting TS won’t make much difference IMO though it would obviously make Sagat a smidge more viable though.
Reverting St.LK to Vanilla status would be all that he needs to bring him back to mid-tier, it’d give him a fighting chance as opposed to corner-death’d all the time.
As is in Ultra, I’d place him below mid-tier with more disadvantageous matches than even.
