Brushstr0kes 101: The Amaterasu Thread Mach II

I’ve been running Ammy on anchor (Wesker/X23/Ammy) … and have been having a bitch of a time (teehee) getting in vs keepaway chars, especially if she’s the last one left. Played a Dorm/Doom team last night and was pretty helpless beyond doing a few Shuffles on reaction. Rosary helps until they realize they can just block. Any thoughts?

Also, why the hell do all the chars call her “Amateras” … is the U silent?

Hey, Im kinda new to this forum but I’ve been reading a lot on here. I’m trying to figure out a team with Ammy as the main. I’m open for any suggestions, I’m lookin to run a more rushdown team that can play keepaway when needed. Right now I’ve been using Magneto/Wesker at point, Ammy, then Chun Li/Doom/IronMan as my third. I’m just trying to find characters that mesh well Ammy and create good overall team synergy. Thanks.

In japanese, the “su” is nearly silent.

Interesting … thanks.

All those options sound good man, I would just experiment. Of the three anchor chars I’d pick Doom, but IM unibeam or repulsor assists could work well too.

Lol @ Ammy teamed with Deadpool.

Here’s a small mixup I created; you need Deadpool’s Quick Work.

Ammy (glaive): Jump and call Deadpool assist, and do full charge jump C. You can vary when you call Deadpool (before or right after you jump). Doing this, they’ll either have to block high or low first, then low and high last, respectively. If either hits, go for a combo afterwards.

Also, you can cancel glaive j.c right before its fully charged; you can cancel with any qcf, and glaive divekick.

It usually combos for me without dropping. The timing is stricter with smaller characters but it’s still possible

Not really a high skilled match at all, but there was something interesting about the solar flare counter at 1:21. He’s facing to the left while holding out solar flare, and his opponent switches in Deadpool, and the counter still works despite having been attacked from the opposite side.

Excellent find!. I hated how ammy’s aa,d,aa,d wavedash barely moved her forward since she gets no momentum on canceled dashes this way. You also get accidental weapon switches. With this “plink” technique for wavedashing, I never get any of that. Definately a technique everyone will need to master.

Glaive is pretty much the best weapon I’ve found. You have the best mobility while in Glaive with :df::h:. Its easily cancelable into head charge and hit confirms into a super combo, making it safe so long as you don’t whiff. Also while in Glaive Ammy can easily combo off instant overhead j.a, and even if its blocked correctly simply cancel the glaive into head charge. Its pretty safe, and with the right assist (Currently running dark force’d hsien-ko Senpu Bu) you can cross-up with Ammy’s dash into jC, or even fly above them, let the assist hit and :df::h: will autocorrect into good damage.

Ammy can counter keep-away fairly well, and has pressure that can match up with some of the best with the threat of instant overheads and Glaive 3H.

The only use I’ve found for whip is maybe against Sentinel. Coldstar and whip can stuff drones and cover a good part of the screen, and of course reflector loops.

im liking ammy with doom rocks im trying for phoenix or sentinel as 3rd pretty much clockw0rk

Dear God, I’m looking at the Ammy’s disk normals in the Brady guide and they’re incredibly safe on block. I was wondering how I was able to counterhit so many people by just doing the abc blockstring. Even forward c is relatively safe on block.

@ killey, yeah that shit is awesome! i like capcom putting it in.

to everyone else:

little rosary neutral game “strat”

jump forward or back or neutral while doing j.H. (think haggar pipe spam)

mix it up with canceling the J.H into qcf+L then another J.H

call otu helpers as needed to make it better. if one hits, hitconfirm into F+HHHHH.

alot of damage can be racked up this way against the right characters with the right assists. of course do cold stars as needed. but imho rosary J.H is ammys best keepaway option. and is the spam to setup her other stuff. dont try this against beam supers and high priority spammable specials of course, its character dependent.

the J.H, air qcf+L, J.H pattern is a good one to get in and stance switch to disk via L,M xx qcb+L, st.M xx switch. or L,M, switch.

so what are ammy’s loops i know of the abc>abc but i never saw the vid for the one seth killian was talking about can someone please give me the command?

Pro-tip for anyone who has Trish as a member of their team, but if you use her round trip special and tagout, even if they advance guard the special, the tagged in character isn’t effected. My ammy found out the hard way.

That’s actually incredibly convenient to know… You’ve made my Ammy AND Morrigan happy, lol

Okay Ammy players, offer me a little help here please.

Today I discovered the wonder that is Cold Star assist. My main team, now C. Viper/Trish/Ammy has been netting me tons of wins, and is extremely fun to play. Cold star supports Viper’s rushdown, it supports Trish’s rushdown, it supports Trish’s zoning. Really, it’s just completely awesome.

However, I’ve been running into issues when people kill off C. Viper and Trish. Hopefully by that time they’re down to one character as well, but even so, I have a hard time using Ammy effectively. I can to her basic BnBs, but I don’t use glaive or whip often. I just don’t quite understand how to play Ammy well on-point. I usually end up air-dashing and trying to score a quick overhead/crossup with jumping strong.

tl;dr how can I use Ammy effectively on a team of Viper/Trish/Ammy?

He asked if it is worth the damage. From what is known now, it isn’t.

To the poster above me, master her stance switching combos to keep your opponent guessing. When you do, your opponent’s gonna feel like Ammy is 3 characters in one.

Not sure if this is old news, but on the shoryuken hyper guide, her df+H while in glaive mode isn’t reported as being OTG but it is.

Hey guys, I’ve been trying to test this, but having a little difficulty: it seems like Ammy’s Bloom assist is actually just as good as Morrigan’s, in that although she is technically on-screen longer, the entire duration of her taunt at the end is invincible (like Morrigan’s), meaning that the assist itself is no more vulnerable than Morrigan’s. Can anyone confirm?
