Brook Converters Thread

The TE stick works like normal if I plug it into my PC without the converter. Also I tried plugging a different controller into the converter (a Madcatz fightpad) and that one wasn’t detected either.

I tried running 201607 again, and the program just seemed to freeze. The adapter light is correct, but the updater is stuck on this screen, and not responding, for ten minutes now.

If I just remove it and kill the program at this point, it turns red+blue when plugged into any USB port, but my PS4 won’t recognize my PS3 arcade stick at all now.

Running 201607 once more, whether the “controller compatibility” checkbox is checked or not (tried both ways after going through the steps above), runs fine, though I always get this error in the middle, which might be significant:

After this attempt, the program reports that it updates successfully, but my adapter is back to blue, and also back to being functional.

Any ideas how to get it working in tournament mode?[/s]

**EDIT: I tried another USB port, one in the back instead of one of the two on the front panel, and I no longer get that VIDPID error above, but no matter how many times I run that update, the adapter lights are red+blue throughout the update process, but then turn only blue at the end, when the update is finished. Why?

I even tried redoing the 20160408 update, and then the new update, both on the ‘other’ USB port, and I get the same result. Now I just tried redownloading it, the same link as I screenshotted and drew an arrow pointed to before, and now the filename is different…there’s a “TE” in the name of the zip! Did you accidentally have the normal update downloading on the TE link and it was just fixed?! Trying it again now with this new .zip…

EDIT2: Of course now it’s working perfectly in tournament mode…please make sure your webmaster is on top of keeping those update links correct. I was lucky I tried redownloading a third time just a few minutes ago, or else I would have still had this issue!**

kinda weird lol

what is the model type of your stick?
it may be compatibility issue.

Copy/pasting my EDIT2 here for you to see:

It’s a 360 Madcatz TE Stick, Femme Fatale edition. I should also note that when I first got the adapter it worked fine (after I struggled a bit getting the firmware update to work)

The new Xbox One controllers that came out with the Xbox One S now have Bluetooth support and can connect to Windows PC with Bluetooth: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-on-windows/accessories/connect-and-troubleshoot-xbox-one-bluetooth-issues-windows-10

It is because of this that some of us were hoping that we could connect the new controllers to our Brook adapters with Bluetooth instead of being forced to use a USB cable.

If the XBOX ONE --> PS4 adapters do not have Bluetooth embedded, I also hope that a USB to Bluetooth adapter can be used with the Brook adapter instead of a possible whole new adapter.

Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Plugable-Bluetooth-Adapter-Raspberry-Compatible/dp/B009ZIILLI/ref=sr_1_4?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1473450822&sr=1-4&keywords=usb+bluetooth+4.1+adapter

PS here is someone who connected a new XBOX One Controller to a PS4 directly via Bluetooth, but it doesn’t work because the PS4 does not natively understand Xbox Commands without Conversion.

Thank you, we are working on it

PS4 firmware update 4.0 is coming tomorrow :frowning:

No need to worry. Brook products running well on 4.0 firmware

good!!

Downloaded the patches for my converters and when I start the process, the program freezes. I tried both normal and Tournament patches and all been the same, just nothing. I am on Windows 10 with the recent Anniversary update.

EDIT: Gonna try troubleshooting before I give up. Restarted my PC and plugged into a neighbor USB port and they work fine! Nevermind! Hopefully they work fine on the PS4!

Does anyone here have any issues updating their PS3 to PS4 converter on Windows 8? Haven’t used my converter in forever since I play on PC but I’m trying to download the Tournament Edition update before I head out to a tournament over the weekend. Whenever I try to run the file for the update, it will either just sit there forever or go to “not responding” as soon as I click on it or bring the window into focus. I’ve tried restarting my PC as well as using different USB ports.

I didnt even update my ps3 to ps4 converter and installed the latest psn update.
It is still working like a charme without 8 min disconnects.
Did sony finally give up?

it works fine

don’t connect your controller for update.
this “freeze” situation happens when a controller is connected to the converter for firmware update(201607)

Hello everyone,

I’ve got a PS3->PS4 white Brook converter (firmware updated). Used it yesterday on two different PS4s at an FG meeting, when I tried plugging it into another console, it just wouldn’t work - no LEDs light up, no nothing. And that’s how it is right now everywhere. I tried plugging it into a PC to see whether it gets at least recognized by the device manager - nothing at all.

Tried running the firmware update just to see if at least something happens. Obviously, no device was found. This has already happened to me in the past and was fixed with me not using the converter for a few days, but the fact that it simply stops working after an hour of usage is kinda annoying.

Has anyone had this issue? Is there any fix to it? Reset of the USB or anything?

“This has already happened to me in the past and was fixed with me not using the converter for a few days, but the fact that it simply stops working after an hour of usage is kinda annoying.”

so it’s like you just put it there for a few days, and suddenly, it works?!

Exactly. The converter refused to work anywhere for a while and when I tried it out a week later or so, it started working again. I’m currently back to no-lights-on-ever mode.

Have you tried plugging it into a USB extension cord first? I use mine with that and it works all the time. It happened on very few occasions that it wouldn’t work when plugged directly into the usb port of the console.
