Trump has never declared bankruptcy. His investments have declared chapter 11 before.
We can sit and argue on Trumps politics, (aka the guy is a dipshit) but his business smarts are top notch. He must have done something right to be valued at ~700 million.

Two different things. Chapter 11 bankruptcy means that you are still responsible for the loans and your business is still able to get out of debt if you show a good business plan and renegotiate with the creditors. When an individual goes into debt or can not pay of their mortgage, they usually do not have a better follow up plan to come up with the money.

Trump inherited his business, and bankrupted it 4 times. He has more debt than he is worth. He is a terrible businessman, but a decent self-promoter (which isn’t difficult in a country of morons).
Trump also has good people working for him. Got to have lunch with George Ross (his right hand man, on the early seasons of the Apprentice.) If I got anything out of talking with him was network, and hire people better than you. That’s exactly what Trump did.
So you can say he isn’t very smart in life, but he is smart in business, because he hires people that makes him look better than he is.
Trump is not in debt. His ventures that went into bankrupt are. The guy used others money to climb out of debt. Is he a slime ball. Hell yes, but I am not going to say the guy is not worth anything.
yeah personal bankruptcy is not the same thing as your businesses going bankrupt. the main reason you form a corporation in the first place is that you protect your own assets if the business fails.
he inherited his father’s wealth, but expanded the businesses and created a good brand. sure some businesses may fail, but most entrepreneurs have failures every now and then. and lots of rich kids inherit their parents wealth but still wind up as failures. trump is a far better businessman than the US government, which is trillions of dollars in debt. so, i’d like to see what he does. what’s obvious to me is that he’s not going to do a worse job than obama, who hasn’t instituted any change whatsoever: keeping bernake, hiring geithner, one of the dbags responsible for this mess, bailing out all the banks, allowing our shares to be converted into common instead of preferred stock, bailing out AIG but not striking out their bonuses in the contract beforehand, bailing out shitty USA car companies that have been bailed out repeatedly in the past for their failures, etc etc. and that’s just on the financial side of things. gitmo is still running, patriot act is still going strong, etc…

If people just accepted the fact that the country was a clusterfuck going into the election and that the problems were bigger than what one president with a retarded congress could accomplish, we wouldn’t have so many disappointed people and be in a better place to fix things.
