BradyGames UMvC3 Strategy Guide Questions

Just needed confirmation that it’d be more or less similar to the first guide.
Preordering now.

For anyone wondering, Gamestop has the updated bible listed as coming out 1 week before the actual game.

Release Date 11/8/2011

The fact that there isn’t a “Love” button on this site saddens me. And i hope GS ain’t messing with us, cause i really want that guide.

So, y’all didn’t read earlier in the thread, I take it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Are you able to divulge anything about what this guide adds that the previous one did not? I’m getting it regardless just for the frame data. I even still read sections to renew my thinking about characters. For example, I have over 3000 online matches with Dormammu, but last month I sat down and re-read his entire section again, just as a way to prime my thoughts.

You guys do good work, and I’m maybe even more excited about the guide than the actual game right now, hahaha. I love that data!

I’ll see if we can’t put out a sample or two in advance via Capcom Unity or something, as we did last time. Gimme a couple weeks though, we still gotta actually finish the thing. ;]

Oooo, exciting!

By the way, just a point of curiosity: how are you handling character changes?

Are you just doing a fresh writeup for each character as an independent entity, or do you talk about what has changed in the character compared to MvC3?

It’s more a stylistic consideration than anything.

Pre-ordered the guide on amazon. Now to sit on my doorstep and wait for it to arrive.

So when I said 480~500 pages I may have meant “as many as 600.”

(We’re very tired.)

600?! 600?!! 600!!!

Yes.

Dr.Strange’s guide required 50 pages.

Hey, “as many as,” I’m not sure where it actually ends up. ;] But it’s breaking 500, hell bent for leather.

10 bucks says i read it all within a day of it being in my hands. Can we haz hints about how long a characters section is?

Is it dropping before the game at all?

OVER 9000

a week in advance IIRC

same here bro

I answered this in a post earlier in the thread. (Sort of.)

We will probably put a sample out soon, which will address any curiosities about content.

I would love it to be, instead of a book like the last one, more of a compendium in a three ring binder that new pages can be printed to replace old ones when the data becomes outdated due to patches/nerfs/buffs (kinda like the AD&D 2nd edition Monstorous Compendium in the 90’s)
Then you could sell a subscription service that allows either a download of the pages or them to be mailed. The way Capcom updates these games so often the guides quickly become outdated

I want this…NOW. 600 pgs. of Mahvel info…Mindblown

People seem to say this a lot for some reason, but it just isn’t true. MvC3 patches changed a single-digit amount of things in our guide, the only meaningful one being Sentinel health. Most of the patch fixes were for things the public never found, and/or weird bugs that weren’t really gameplay related, like sound glitches.
