BradyGames UMvC3 Strategy Guide Questions

Yes, it did.

No, it didn’t. Street date for the guide was the same day as the game’s release. There was a little uproar in the threads here about people not being able to get it early (like amazon had originally listed) and the fact it was street dated at all.

Yes, it did. It was available from Amazon and GameStop before the game was released.

Should we rock-paper-scissors to settle this?

i lol’d at ctg and p. gorath coments.
anyway, i never see one of those guides, in shoryuken you found better things

No, it wasn’t. Gamestop street dated it and did not sell it until the day the game came out. Amazon didn’t have it until two days after the game came out.

Unless you have some actual facts to back you up, you should stop responding. Anyone can easily google and see the guide didn’t come out from amazon or gamestop before the launch.

Yes, it did.

… I got mine from target >.>

Yep, this is why people who actually play the games hardly ever venture into the fg forums

ggs 09ers and beyond

Yawn… You too huh?

Been playing fighters since Genesis. Keep looking at my registration date and think you know smallest thing about me and get yourself embarrassed. Last resort of someone whose got nothing left to say. Do you even remember Fighters.net? I do. I go back since before Super Turbo. Keep making assumptions. Please.

You know, on SRK you also found lots of discoveries months later that we had on day 1. “The internet exists” argument doesn’t automatically obsolete us if we do a good job. The two sides work together, and we always point people to SRK anyway. The value for dollar ratio is insane, I can’t believe how many words we sell for $12. ;] Stuff ends up being obsoleted but 99% of it still *works *(in other words yes, a better tactic/combo ends up dealing more damage and building more bar, or whatever, but that doesn’t mean the option we suggested does nothing).

(To preempt patch comments, patches changed a single-digit number of mostly-meaningless things from our vanilla guide, the only standout is the number of times we refer to “holy cow look at the beating Sentinel can take” for the 20th time. We have more outright typos or big things we missed cough THC glitch cough than inaccuracies created by patches. Sorry about that – to call the timeframe for guides unforgiving would be underselling it. For accuracy we’re still over 99%)

Also, that ferocious midwestern ice storm in January almost made us late on vanilla. We were mildly lucky to be there at launch. If you got one early, you live in very particular parts of the country that happened to get shipments right away. It was definitely not available early in the majority of places, though. I don’t have any personal control over what anyone lists as a release date. Us authors work until we absolutely must stop because at some point it has to get approved, printed, and shipped, and that’s a physical process that takes weeks. I wouldn’t expect it early but you never know?

Thanks for the hard work it, it’s a great guide.

Anyway, I’m really looking forward to the new guide. This probably sounds cheesy, but maybe you guys could add in a section where a pro talks about his best character? Marlinpie in the C. Viper section would be godlike.

It’s way too late for suggestions (we’ve certainly kept our ears open along the way! This guide is far from just a retread), but uh, I guarantee you won’t be disappointed. Also I am more or less sure it’s going to be 480~500 pgs.

Looking forward to the guide.

Dr. Deelite, I just want you to know I really enjoyed the History of MvC part and all the the introductory sections. I hope to see more unnecessary crap in the next guide you’re a good writer.

Looking forward to it, it’s the first halfway decent strategy guide that I was happy with since the 90’s lol.

Oh lord! Now I just hope you guys put some goddamn moon glue on it because if it’s a paperback, I think it deserves better :frowning:
I don’t want to jack up the price though…

I just bought the Vanilla guide and while I feel as though it will be obsolete after a couple months (UMvC3 guide pre-ordered already) I don’t mind having bought it this late. Sure there’s less than two months but thats a LOT of time in Mahvel and SRK is a great place but it’s also good to have the info (even if mostly the basics)right at my finger tips. And then I’ll probably give it to my cousin once Ultimate comes out and hopefully it can help him become better.

@Dr. Deelite: You/Brady Games/your team did a great job on the first guide and I’ll definitely be buying the Ultimate version. Keep it up!

pre-ordering.
