But that’s the thing: Nova is new. Of course he’s going to seem powerful, because opponents haven’t figured his shit out. Do you think Jammo…that Nova can last? As in not suck in end? Or become a problem? Or maybe find a happy medium?
Out of the new characters, Nova is by far my favorite so far. He definitely played a lot different from what I expected, but i did grow to find effective ways to use him. Plus hes just badass. Nova should be pretty sick
The thing is, Nova isn’t gimmicky. He is just raw strength. Magneto isn’t gimmicks, you mash on jab, or tri dash for simply high lows into strong combos. The thing is Nova just hits harder. I believe in todays competitive scene, Nova compares well to Taskmaster as far as usefulness and longevity. His basics are just too solid for him to be bad. Worst case scenario, he turns into the new super skrull. Most of the Nova players I talked to were just trying to get flight combos off and stuff, we weren’t doing anything special. Everyone is jumping for joy about the Aegis gravimetric pulse, but the L and M version are very good for controlling space, and they have decent speed and great range. I didn’t even touch his command normals or crumple combos. Trust me, there is TONS left untouched from NYCC, but even still, Nova has a solid foundation, IMO

Am glad to hear that. I was considering replacing Tasky with him actually, if he can mesh. The Gravimetric pulses can be done in air, but do the light and medium versions keep him ‘suspended’ or do they stay active as he falls? The first time I saw that they were special moves and not normals (I thought they were from that leaked screenshot), I was thinking a balanced version of “the hammer” or a similar use. Nova Chest Bumps~
He freezes in the air when he does all 3 of the pulses, but I think the Rocket Punches are much better air moves. The pulses on the ground, however, are really good. H Gravimetric pulse is prolly good in the air for lockdown and mix ups, I was pairing that with chris land mines
It’s probably already been said but various thoughts-
With his lvl 1 beam hyper eating red life this guy screams Anchor. Add what looks like super crazy mobility and lvl 1 supers he might also make a decent second. I doubt we’ll see too much point with him, but who knows.
That means he’s going to need a good assist or two. My guesses are the barrier, the spear, and the kick. Spear being most common, but that’s HUGE guess area.
As a second he shines it seems. Spam assist for combos/whatever, if he gets beam raped DHC into him to murder a character or two depending on how evil his beam gets with red HP. If he doesn’t get torn apart he’ll still make for decent rushdown it seems and ok mixup, with cheap and easy dmg.
That said he seems pretty vanilla but i’ve yet to comb through the 15 pages yet to see what else anyone has noticed. I’m very curious to see uses for his “projectile” and rush super as well. Beam is the go to for dmg, but at a cost, sphere seems to be the other option, what in the hell do you rush for.?
He’s linear rushdown, and I haven’t seen and couldn’t figure out any particularly strong mixups, those are probably his biggest weaknesses if I had to guess without lab time.

You don’t really need to burn meter for damage, so no need using the Beam if you don’t want to. He has a lot of move variety as far as mechanics go, so he isn’t too bad on point as a battery.
1 overhead/two high-hitting divekicks/8 way airdash/flight mode/safe specials/a tracking projectile/crumple stun on hit/full screen low attack/aegis protector/range from Gravimetric Pulse/3 level ones (Maximum Nova has invulnerability and one is a beam)…
and no mix-up… ru sure? Can you name a character that has these things and isn’t good at getting in? And if he can do a little flight canceling he should be golden.

We should stop calling that one “maximum Nova” it really looks nothing like Maximum Spider/Wesker, it is most like Iron Avenger, so maybe something like Gravimetric Avenger or just ping-pong…

I agree with this. I wouldn’t mind them putting in Star-Lord and Groot, so that we could play Team Guardians of the Galaxy. Also, Rocket Raccoon would look less like a joke character if his warrior teammates were in together with him.

Back before when UMvC3 was just rumored I was hoping like crazy Groot would be in but thought there would be no chance for him (or any other GotG) because they aren’t mainstream enough. Racoon may not be Groot but I started fist pumping like a guido when I saw him leaked for the first time. I’m still hoping Groot (or any other GotG member) makes an appearance in RR’s moveset. It’s cool to finally see them get some more attention, I’ve been saying this for a while now but GotG was easily the best ongoing comic I have ever read.
