Blue blazes, he's AWESOME! The Nova Thread!

just wanted to say some words
as a giant Nova fan that i’am (as everyone can see in my avatar that i use for years in other places)
im very pleased with what i saw, he does almost everything that i wanted him to do

as for his hyper, i remember reading somewhere that only his Gravimetric Blaster drains his health, but i can be wrong

I assumed it was optional, 'specially for a game like this.

His Inferno like super can also feed off his red health iirc.

tbh I think Seth wasn’t really sure he’s not known to give the best walk throughs

then maybe its something like Akuma’s super, hold H to use your health

Or mash.

He looks like a beast god damn.

Considering everybody has a mashable hyper of some sort, I’m going with this idea.

Doesn’t seem to be the case, since he said “didn’t even mash it” after demonstrating the damage with red health used.

hold makes the most sense, because mashing is variable. I’d def agree that Akuma is the most probable model.

What did Seth mean when he said (more than once), that the Centurian Arts sequence was good for mix ups? I know the OTG version hits low, but the diving special kick from the ground isn’t an overhead.

Also, looks like energy javelin disappears when you’re hit. Still looks great, though~

right he just wanted to demonstrate the difference in damage without mashing. . Seth said theres 3 lvls of increased damage from red health, imagine the damage output with lvl3 xf, lvl3 red health damage buff and mashing :badboy:

edit: and iirc he said its not optional about using the red health, if its there its gone

He has been wrong before, it seems he was talking bout stuff from the previous build for Nova. Like commenting that his Centurion Rush was low/OTG, then after he did it then he said they must of changed it for this build. So those could have been more addition to this build that he didn’t know about.

Seth also said on stream today that the game is done but they will most likely have a Day 1 patch, for whatever reason. So nothing we see is final.

I wonder if (Human) Rocket Punch is part of his Centurion Arts. And if his large overhead swing (that looks like Skrull’s Stone Smite) is a special or a normal.

Day 1 patch? Hopefully it’s just for online and stuff, nothing major…

???

this may or may not be the case, but if you’re basing that on the gameplay vid with haggar, keep in mind the javelin has semi-tracking, and can be dashed under to avoid it. so maybe haggar just moved outta the way before it hit. but maybe.

Who knows could be anything … I would love for Novas Dive Kick to overhead so I hope the patch is more of a balancing thing.

Hopefully it isn’t to nerf Novas awesomeness!

Did anyone post a movelist yet? I played Nova at NYCC today so I can post one up if it hasn’t been done already.

No one has done it yet so Please do Kind sir and what are your first impressions of Nova.

I didn’t really get a chance to work on combos, so I was just throwing the specials out there in order to get a hang of Nova’s moveset. They generally seemed decent in terms of damage and priority and especially combo potential, though. I don’t know what’s safe or not, though, so I can’t really say if any of the moves are actually viable. I might have mixed something up here and there, too, since it’s been a long day, but I think it’s mostly correct. Someone else can feel free to append the proper move names and input icons and stuff.

crouching B: slide, special cancelable.

Crouching C: looks like Cammy’s sweep (if I’m thinking of the right move), unsafe.

Toward + C: ground pound punch, can be charged by holding down the button, which makes it cause OTG and allows you to combo after. I guess it’s like that Super Skrull move.

Air S: downward diving punch, does multiple hits.

qcf + A = mid range projectile, hits in front. Air OK. Doesn’t seem remarkable, but might have some use I guess. I’m pretty sure this is a recycled animation from Storm and Iron Man.
qcf + B = same move, but angled upward. Air OK.
qcf + C = Nova creates a shield/barrier. Similar to Modoks in terms of speed and duration: not amazing. Red health is used to produce a larger version of the shield that lasts longer. This is one of his assists.

dp + A = Rushing slide attack, causes OTG. Pretty sure Nova can combo after it on his own. This is also one of his assists.
dp + B = Nova shoots up and does a dive kick (not an overhead) that you can combo out of on hit.
dp + C = Nova rushes forward and uppercuts the opponent, super jump cancelable. Reminds me of Captain Falcon’s side + B in Smash.

Most of the above moves are fairly slow on start-up, but travel quickly and seem to have good priority.

qcb + A = rushing attack. I think this version is comboable, because it doesn’t do much else.
qcb + B = rushing attack, causes wall bounce that is easily comboed off of. Air OK.
qcb + C = rushing attack, causes crumple. This special seemed pretty solid–it’s probably unsafe as hell, but it moves really fast, does good damage, and the crumple is beast. I was doing it on reaction to assist calls and crumpling two characters at once. Pretty sure this works in the air.

Like the DP input specials, all of these moves have a bit of start up but travel relatively fast.

Air dash: horribly slow, and swerves around like Morrigan’s.

I couldn’t figure out how to control his Rocket Blast/Maximum Nova super… the input is qcb, though. Beam is qcf, and Inferno is DP.
