Blanka Unblockables

Having a hard time hitting with the jp.fp set up on viper. Tips anyone?

unblockable j.lp is the new hotness, it looks absolutely stupid.

Works on Rog so far. It feels not strict at all, give it a try just to laugh.

Just tried it in training mode. It does look nasty.

So 3 options against Rog, huh? Not too shabby for me.

And yeah it tends to whiff against the rest i tested.

So I tried the guile unblockable and I can block the j.mk if I crouch then block as a crossup on the last possible frame. I was playing on someone else’s ps3 so I couldn’t test my setup comprehensively. What was I doing wrong?

And I could duck the j.hp one too.

unblockables are always blockable on the last possible frame. the reason they work is because of the walk animations. The reason they are hard to block is because when that last frame is, especially for the j.mk unblockable can be about 3 frames different, or you can actually land same side with some characters with j.hk or whatever, or you could land and do an empty jump setup. It’s explained in the thread. You also have to practice blocking them, and if you are a character like viper where 10 characters have unblockables on you, practicing blocking all of them is somewhat difficult.

I’ve never tried j.hp vs. guile, but j.hp is easier to crouch than j.mk. It’s the harder b.throw unblockable to setup between the 4 ilitirit/myself have found because the window you have to execute it properly is much smaller.

nerf to backthrow announced. I can’t think of any reason why they would do this other than to potentially kill these.

I mean I’m flattered that capcom is now balancing around things I have pioneered, but it’s obnoxious.

so now what? I guess we will see if bthrow nerf kills our setups. 1f makes a huge difference? Do you think mk will still crossup after bthrow dash j.mk?

It’s hard to come up with another reason why they would nerf the backthrow other than to remove the unblockables. I can live without it for most characters, but against guile and rog it was quite a godsend, even if a bit “unfair”

I havent effed with that program yet but its looking more and more attractive by the minute

Hehe, I’m pretty sure Japanese Blanka players knew about the unblockable a while back though. There’s an old vid somewhere of Blanka vs Maeda or Pamyuu and the Blanka kept messing up the unblockable into OS slide.

I saw unblockable use skyrocket after this thread’s creation.

I’m almost wishing I kept this stuff limited access, but I wanted all of my fellow Blanka players to get a chance to do well.
