Blanka ULTRA SSF4 Changes

she’s pretty much better than blanka in every way. better at chipping, better ultras, better frame advantage on normals etc. he has a better slide than hers(though hers is fadcable and comboable meterlessly), better close range jumpins, and he has better no charge anti air. she’s safer, more mobile, does more damage, has better option selects, better mixups, builds more meter, and most importantly she’s better at keeping offensive momentum.

Also, Decapre is way more fun to play than Blanka

I think the vertical roll option does the most damage anyway. The most damage I got from a RFA>Ultra combo was j.hk>cr.mk>hk.VRoll>RFA>U2(PPP). Obviously for this you have to hit a j.hk, so maybe best after backthrow>dash>j.hk in the corner or something. I can’t think of a better grounded combo than yours, though (I use cr.lk>cr.lk>st.lp>mp.HRoll>RFA, but lately I’ve been a bit inconsistent so I may have to use yours). Another good option is probably cr.hp>RFA>Ultra. Haven’t used it myself but I saw it in the quesadilla bomb punish video.

Actually, new cr.mk is so bad… No more link to sweep because no more frame advantage after a counter hit, it’s that normal? I mean, it’s maybe a bug? First time i see that thing in this game…

That and the new pushback, and of course, new huge hurtbox, i get my cr.mk breaked by my opponent all times now.

Without the CH frames c.LP might actually be a better poke compare with c.mk. It’s faster, farther rearch and less recovery. But less frame advantage however you can still combo into ball or anything if you cancel it.

WTH? Isn’t CH + frames a system mechanic? Why would they nerf cr. mk frames? I suppose they are trying to prevent a 5 frame u1 setup from CH cr. mk? Lame…

Blanka got good stuff but I think you need a lot of patience to win. Something I dont have with this game anymore.

There is no character that “farts” electricity. That being said, yes, playing Blanka is far classier than playing a generic Spammy clone.

I thought it was pretty obvious that I wasn’t. :stuck_out_tongue: Decapre is trash as far as I am concerned.

Decapre is going to be fine bc her mash attack has good chip and can be abused against everything but red focus.

I think her normals seem fairly meh though, and her specials…require correct setups.

It also looks like her dive kicks are fairly easy to reversal, and am I correct that she can only ex dive kick after an ex up in the air thing? As in, can she do regular up in air move and then do ex divekick? Doh, i bet she can, but it all seems rather slow.

I do want to spend more time with her, but I get only an hour or so max a day to play, so looking at blankas close mk and all the posible situations and its effectiveness.

Honestly, Im really liking this new blanka. A lot safer on offense, close mk really opens up the attack possiblities.

Most importantly, his links all seem easier. Close mk to jab is a LOT easier than ssf4ae, and so are his cr. lk links. Likely easier not from frame advantage but a larger cancel window.

Only sad part is that ch. low mk combos are gone, so im setting up far mp combos instead, which after elec provides a similar structure. Problem is that far mp ch combos best link into cr. mp, rather than cr. rh, bc the cr. mp reaches further. But agagin if set up after elec the distance isnt much of a problem, and the far mp sets up a better ch. window than cr mk.

I think im ranked 67ish blanka. only played about 6 or 8 times online for points, but moving up fast.

people just play her wrong. I’m doing unautocorrectable vortex crap already. Against red focus you can actually react and do ex hands and it’ll beat it cause the damn attack is so freaking long.

You can’t do regular scramble to ex divekick, but ex scrambles and all followups are 1 bar total.

Well i do recall they never said anywhere that blanka cr mk would no longer have extra counter hit frame advantage (like every other frigging move in the game), might be worth a shot to let them know about this issue.
