Blanka ULTRA SSF4 Changes

I noticed that too… you can only bind buttons for LPMPHP, LKMKHK, 3P and 3K at the SELECT/BACK function on the select screen… no LK+HK, no MP+MK or anything like that

That’s because they used the same system as HDR, where you press the button you wanna use (as requested by the community, it seems)

Yeah, HDR you can bind two MP buttons though. They don’t allow 3P or 3K binds though.

Not that it would have made a difference in tournaments, people will always love those button checks anyway…

a tad disappointed that the block stun haven’t increased for c.MK although I guess it’s kinda expected anyways

I was messing with red focus combos last night and finding that it was a little tough to get good hit comfirms into strong beast roll->RFA. You can’t red focus the beast roll from far distances, so long confirms into red focus after beast roll don’t work sometimes, which makes you have to use other options. In this particular instance, I found that cr. forward->cr.short->vertical rolling->red focus was more reliable… Might want to look into that some more.

On another note, Elena’s low profile block hurtbox is so lo and so narrow that my jump-in roundhouse was crossing up a lot… Interesting.

Can anyone confirm if Blanka’s unblockables still work? Bison board says his still do.

Tried on a Boxer online and it didn’t work, even tough he didn’t use delayed wakeup

b.throw ones don’t, other ones that I’ve checked do, but i forgot to check f.throw unblockable on rufus midscreen. will be worth rechecking b.throw on everyone with j.hp/hk/lp/mk to see if any still work, especially with the dash buff. might be able to unblockable cody again or something.

So I finally started playing USF4. it’s so… STRANGE getting to use Rolling Attacks in combos and not have it be a free invite for an Ultra reversal. Having to retrain myself all over again to stop using electric combos (which I had to learn to teach myself to lay off Ball combos in the first place). It’s quite surreal to finally be able to counter blocked attacks with St.jab -> Rolling Attack and have it be actually effective.

I’m even beginning to feel myself a bit by using the Blanka Ball to counter whiffed moves instead of the slide. So satisfying to mix up jab and fierce balls, basically having an ACTUAL USEABLE special move once again instead of having to rely primarily on normals. A part of me won’t allow myself to enjoy it; like I still expect the powers that be at Capcom to take back the buff.

electricity combos are still better than ball combos (assuming the elec will connect) due to both positioning as well as higher dmg.

ball combos do more damage now if your starter isn’t cr.short.

still hope we get a few more buffs with the next patch
still have the same problems with players who play defense and have solid footsies and aa
maybe the change the other guy ask for that normal back+mp is overhead would help or a little hitbox buff that light horiball more trades
but overall blanka feels a bit better in this version so maybe i must improve and not blanka:-)

wow, ves is right, low mk is completely trashed. no plus frames on ch, ch cr. mk to cr. rh is impossible. Can only do it with far stand mp, which is ok after elec, but after far mp, cr. rh whiffs a lot, and its often better to use cr. mp, which is less dmg and no knockdown…

This really affects anyone going straight ultra 2. If using ultra 2, low mk to low rh, was your go-to combo to get that knockdown and start the offense. that whole element is now completely gone…making me really rethink the usefulness of a pure u2 setup. I was trying to use u2 purely for red focus cancels or focus crumples (using more focus attack bc of buff on dash), but this cr. mk nerf really changes a lot. I’ll try and substitute the far mp into my game and see if it works…but its kinda slow and not a fav button at all.

Oh well, at least close mk has been wrackin up tons of ch setups.

yeah it really sucks, and really impacts how I play the character, but I’m mostly decapre now so eh

im loving messin with decapres uppercut and making it whiff my jumpins.

What are your thoughts on decap? low mk in jab hands thing working out well as a poking tool?
