Blanka ULTRA SSF4 Changes

Seriously? That would be huge. I don’t think they would unlist that though. So you are saying hitstun has increased by a frame? Or better yet, 3 frame startup (doubt that too)?

it just feels like it could be a 2-frame-link. i didn’t plink the low-kicks and was able to hit them a bit easier then before.

Buffed but honestly as far as early speculation goes it’s NOT to the point he’s buffed so much and he is now top tier

I can concur that crouch short was a lot easier to link, felt that way to me.

It’s not about it being easier or not. If you suspect it’s 2 frame link it means you can now combo it into c.mk (+4->+5). If you suspect it’s easier because it’s chainable mash on c.lk it should come out regardless of timing.

If you can’t get c.mk to connect (without ch) and you can’t mash it out it means it’s the same as before, but hey congrats your muscle memory is getting better at c.lk links.

Blanka’s better, but he’s still not great.

Well, now it’s possible to hit another Blanka with AA U2 after a focus crumple, but the timing is still more restrict than against “normal” opponents…

What I mean is that you have to do the U2 really fast after the dash forward and even then the Ultra will only hit Blanka when he’s about to hit the ground… as in, the Ultra 2 animation only connects real late, it’s weird…

Against most of the characters you can dash forward, charge a little bit while crouching and then do the Ultra…

cr.MK > cr.MK is easier than I tought… but I got no more lucky with cr.MK > U1 than before… I have to practice doing the Ultra a little late… I’m plinking 3P~HK by the way…

Decapre is really fun to play, altough her scramble/teleport seems really slower than I anticipated… st.LP xx LP Claws with her is really shit, terrible damage and not really safe on block… it’s not like Blanka or Honda

EX Claws does a nice damage…

You can do j.HP > st.HP xx HP Claws just by mashing fierce…

Couldn’t find a way to combo with RFC… after Claws the focus is too slow to combo… also Ex scramble > slide does a hefty damage, but it’s too slow to combo after a normal… unlike regular slide

All in all is great play to play a character that can cause good damage frequently

Also, Rolento’s kara throw is done with LK~LP

Cr.mk into lp. rapid dagger is the way to go with DeKappa. On block, it can’t be DPed or SPDed. As for RFC, do cl.mp, hk target after it into Ultra. That said, you’re still better off doing EX seismo, EX Stinger into U2 (572 dmg).

Hit-stop was changed on a lot of things. That might be why things feel easier. I suspect that the “1f extra of hit-detection” that Combo mentioned was that if you press a button during impact freeze it will now detect for one more frame than it did before.

Ilitirit: interesting…I played a second time late last night, and definately the crouch shorts are easier to hit. I am an old man with shit execution, so when i start actually hitting cr. lk links frequently…either god has blessed me with white man crack…or a system mechanic changed. Your explanation is as good as I could think of!

Also, close mk is the bomb: Super secret josh discovery: far and close mk seem to be fairly strong against dive kicks. I need to test more, but frankly I was shocked. People dive kicked right in my face, I did mk, and I always at least got a trade. (not counting cammy ex dive kick, or rufuses, but its worth checking it on all divekicks, both far and close mk.

Seems like reversal U2 punishes all -5f FADC backwards reversals except Cammy and Adon. I can’t find a suitable punish for these two yet. That said, I’m not sure how practical it is since you don’t get much time to confirm forward or backdash dashing.

yeah far mk actually has a great hitbox vs. Cammy’s divekick, it just has piddly active frames.

both of his ultras seem very good

I was really looking forward to ultra for the ability to change buttons at the select screen, since I use an extra MP button to slide, but for everyone but Honda and Blanka, I use a conventional setup. Unfortunately you can’t change the button config to allow 2 MP buttons in the select screen config, so I can’t alternate between characters like I want. If anyone knows a solution for this, I would be grateful.
