Well, the Abel I’ve been losing to punishes balls well with dash>f.mk into change of direction or throws. I’ll start using rainbow ball instead of up ball so much against though. When Abel starts to change of direction, somewhere in between the 2/3 hits can it be punished or halted?

As for Cammy, I pretty much play her similarly to Rog. Try to bait Cannon Spikes, punish jump ins with neutral jump fp or up ball, and lots of tick throws. I just try to keep her out of her combo range because once she gets going it’s hard to get her off. I can beat a good cammy then a round later get perfected by the same one once they get inside and start mixing it up.

I really don’t think some of his more difficult links are that important. Great if you can do them but it’s just not a necessity. Most of your damage will come from proper zoning, baiting and mixups. As for dealing the mash dp’s during block strings, I like to let them hit me with one or 2 of them then purposefully stop during combos to bait the dp and punish with U1. One of the only ways you can land it against a decent shoto.

Unless you’re very consistent with strings, I wouldn’t do them close when grab ultra is there or against 360 characters in general until you get them down. The damage is minuscule anyway unless you plan on linking lights into ultra.

now why does honda and bison beat the damn neckbreacker but blanka looses to it every single time?

Don’t fall down against her. And i’m being serious.

I find that a nicely timed f/hop avoids a lot of neck breakers, then depending on the follow-through distance… a c.hk during her recovery. Hopping through rogs/dudleys straights/mgbs has prepped me a bit for that kinda stuff, but a bit of luck is needed too. :slight_smile:

you can safeball non ex neckbreaker, though i don’t know the setup yet.

So… any chance the OP gets updated? A lot of key matchups have no useful info and really there are 14 pages of info that could be quite hit or miss. Many new Blanka players would probably get overwhelmed looking at the info (if they aren’t too lazy to look for it anyway which is a distinct possibility).

vs Yang:

played a pretty good Yang player… basically the same guy who usually kicks my ass with his Akuma/Viper (actually he uses all characters well but those are his main)

Palm > Ball… if he does Palm the active hit frames are sooooooooo long… most of the time you’re gonna lose… not all the time because it’s still possible to catch him during startup and recovery… but it’s really not worth it… you can PROBABLY EX ball his Palm however

Palm < Slide … like any projectile moves it goes completely under it… (as you know Palm is consider a projectile)

Fake Palm, FA or FA > Slide … pretty easy to understand

Fake Palm or FA < Hop throw … standard stuff

U2 > Blocked ball

EX upkicks (i think) > blocked ball

In general Yang’s game revolves around dive kick pressure, Palms for meter building, low pokes into slashes… I find standing at Hop range is probably the best choice to react to his moves… he can’t just palm… because if you see him palm… you can either slide him to interupt it or… take the less risky Hop into throw… which will deal with his fake into mixups as well…

because you’re gonna use Hop into throw as part of your strategy it’s not easy for him to FA bait you… so with Blanka’s regular normal it’s not easy for Yang to move in on Blanka… especially when you got cr. HP, cr. MP which both moves helps as long distance poke and to keep him grounded from him attempting to jump for dive kick or doing dive kicks too far out.

you have to watch out for ‘teleport’ into pokes -> combos… it recover fairly fast but if you look out for it… he can’t really do much… i don’t think his teleport avoids much… but i need reconfirm

against his dive kicks… like any dive kick characters… you can block them low… and there’s really no reason for blanka to stand up unless you’re VERY sure he’s gonna do the punishable on block overhead or his command throw which sometimes you might wanna walk backwards… otherwise most of the time if you’re at disadvantage you should just be holding d/b… ex rainbow away if possible…

nj.HP early/ub. HP are both pretty good defensive moves against his dive kick pressure in general. but don’t go being too obvious by constantly jumping back… however… imo… the priority is to stop him from coming in easily so… anything that can stop his dive kicks are in general a good idea.

watch out for his resets… rainbow away… when he does… the mixup afterwards is too insane… with his extremely fast pokes, throws, command throw all these good options can be rainbow away you don’t wanna try guessing.

If a boxer player is consistently losing to Blanka he’s honestly terrible at the matchup.

what are the best punishes for blocked super/ultra 1 from cammy?

i know that if you have u2 and block her ultra you can activate your aa ultra when cammy says “smasher” and she gets caught in it. should work on super too. but what is another good punish?

Against U1 the last hit only whiffs if you attempt to crouch block it. Meaning you can hop -> ultra both U1 and super.

If you decide to crouch block vs. ultra and make the hit whiff you can do backhop, ultra, but the timing window is very tight. However jb.hk st.lk xx elec does beefy damage and punishes every time.

vs. super or stand blocked ultra you can also get a full jump in combo if you just hold uf. Most damage would be something into super or something into ultra obviously.

though, i always run into those boxer mainers who actually know how to face blanka and that’s no fun match at all.

I posted this in the Juri Forums and I wanted to extend the invite to the blanka players of SRK. I’m personally not looking for an analysis on the blanka player (although kind of a weird thing to ask of you guys), but a reverse analysis of myself. I need to know what I could have done in certain situations and basically how to improve this match up of myself. If you were in the blanka players shoes and I did certain things…what are you thinking? What are your options and what could I have done to stop them.

If you wanna Comment here, or on the video’s themselves, its cool. But I believe conversation is the best way to understanding!

I hate how that blanka plays so it is paining me to watch the set, I’ll get around to it though.
