BioShock Infinite: It's a Bird! It's a Plane! It's Racism!

Dunno what that is DJ Hyper Kid, your link doesn’t seem to work.

Really? Hmm it is showing up fine on my comp, well anyway this should be a bit better.

If you’re playing the console version, be sure to check “unlock framerate” in options. This made BioShock 1 and 2 a lot more smoother and enjoyable for me on consoles. It’s going to be pretty awesome to play this @ 60 FPS on PC this time, though.

@Sovi3t I don’t think this game has texture detail that matches Crysis 3, but its artstyle really sets it apart. BioShock Infinite and DmC are, graphically, the best I’ve seen out of third-party Unreal Engine titles. BioShock Infinite uses “Unreal Engine 3.5” too I believe.

Yeah its mostly the world they created that is just breathtaking.

Just finished it now, and I agree with you for the most recessiontime.

[details=Spoiler]Anna/Elizabeth gets her power because she exists in multiple realities due to the finger chop. The prophet was grooming her to become the version of herself that destroys the world.

I still dont see what was up with the bro/sis combo. I figure in one reality the girl was a boy, and so therefore were the same person. Probably explains why you see the statue of the creator of the flying city change early in the game. The fact they were supposed to be dead at one point, kinda confuses me though

Don’t understand the symbology of scroll, sword. and key though.

I realized who DeWitt was the moment they never showed Prophet when he was younger, or beardless. The whole conversation with Dale sealed it.

I guess the big question, is does that Elizabeth disappear at the end? Is the fade to black as the last note plays because her and the universe she had created was gone, or just to make us guess?
[/details]

all in all, not a bad story, nice twists.

Does any of the choices you get in the game make any difference?

Spoiler

like when you choose to kill or save your old partner or choose the necklace you give her

I am playing it now. I just got to Elizabeth. The game is simply gorgeous. I did the unlock frame rate, and I notice a difference. I have to get used to the combat though, I get worked when there are too many enemies to fight. I am taking my time with the game though, since I will be at Final Round this weekend.

Unlocking framerate in console BioShock games is what’s up.

I tried to do 1999 mode, and ended up dying before I even unlocke shields. Will have to try Hard mode first I suppose.

nah man most people have the same experience dying before getting shield

Some simple facts for people who intend on buying this game-

*Visuals are pretty.
*The NPC is like an official babysitter. She guides you through linear stages, cannot die, gives you free ammo, health, money etc. and you also get a period of invincibility when you grab them. She’s basically a walking cheatcode machine.
*If you die you respawn like 5 feet backwards but the enemies you killed stay dead. In short they went to make the easiest FPS ever made, so be warned.

I hope the enemies I kill stay dead…its not a zombie game. When I die I come back with half health and salt. The enemies I injured but didnt kill are still there but their health has been replenished a little. Ive died a few times. I love the game so far, but havent gotten very far. It surprises me to see that none of my friends are playing this game.

That’s why they put in 1999 Mode.

Even with Elizabeth the game can get pretty tough. Enemies don’t funnel at you from predicable directions, they come from anywhere and everywhere, and they give no fucks about shooting you ass from all directions from clear across the level. Then there’s the Heavys like the Handymen and the Siren is a real fucking pain in the ass to.

Games tough.

Got this game on PC, immediatly set that shit on hard and maybe died like 6 times. They should have dropped 1999 mode from the get go. Game’s WAY to easy, doesn’t help that you respawn right away.

I seriously don’t get why you people tripping about the graphics, damn console peasents. Is the game beautiful? Yes it is! It’s very beautiful and colorful and everything looks great! Is it the best graphically? Hell no, everything in the game is made out of plastic. It has the same feel as Bioshock 1 and 2. Everything is one mass… it’s hard to explain. Battlefield 3 easily destroys this game, graphically. Don’t get me wrong tough, it looks great and I enjoyed it. I love colorful games. Creates great mood.

Powers, guns. Meh… I dunno. Some good, some bad. I went trough the whole game using shock and rifle, 1 shotting ennemies, switch to RPG for Patriots and shit. I expected this, the same way I went trough Bioshock with Shock and XBow lol, 1 shotting ennemies again. I think I used Charge, Undertow, Return to Sender once as I got it, never to touch it again.

I expected more skyline play… like your on it for 10 minutes or some shit, jumping from ship to ship and stuff. We did get some of that, but not as much as I expected.

Ok now… the story and ending…

[details=Spoiler] As the ending was unfolding before my eyes, this was my reaction:
What?

WHAT???

WHAT THE FUCK???

Arms raised thowards the screen HAHA WHAT???

OMG BIOSHOCK!!! OMGOMGOMGOMGMOG MAYBE IN REALITY YOU ARE FONTAINE AND THATS HOW YOU BUILT THE CITY WITH YOUR NEWFOUND POWERS!!! LET ME EXPLORE!!!

WHAT??

WAIT WHAT???

Credits Roll

WHAT???

LoL, anyways, I was like, "Do I need to learn quantum mechanics to understand the ending? I kinda got it and I’m please they didn’t dumb it down and pretty much left it for speculation to what actually happened. I find this game to be a great philosophy research paper. It could go in a lot of ways what everything meant and how it ties togheter.

Anwyays, when you go to Rapture, is this supposed to be before or after B1/B2? I know you’re going BACK the way you came in B1, and there’s those signs on the floor which I’m guessing happened after B1, can’t remember.

ALSO FUCKING MAJOR CRAZY IDEA I HAD!!! You know when you’re getting drowned, was it just me or did that look like a Bioshock 2 origin story for the Big Daddy? I’m sure their origin was explained in B1/B2 but I can’t remember. Anwyays, I find, they could have went that way… You’re drowned, somehow brought back to life, made one with water (somehow, I don’t fucking know, could be symbolic) and the multiverse Elizabeths/Annas become little sisters? If you remember the ending of B2, the main char saved all of them and they all grew up to live happily ever after. Doesn’t help they were all wearing diffrent colored clothes just like the ending of B2, where you only see the colors. I guess Elizabeth/Anna was too old to have been a little sister, but whatever, I dunno, it just blew my mind as I was watching the scene and was expecting that shit to happen, even tough it makes no sense, LoL.

I was also expecting a bigger impact over Bioshock 1/2. Like, I went in this game expecting this to be a diffrent game, but was hoping they would mention B1/B2 somehow, and they did deliver, when you get to Rapture… but I find they could have done so much more… How was Rapture created under the sea? With technology from Colombia and shit. The Songbird could become a prototype Big Daddy seeing as they are both protectors. Booker could have ended up as someone from Rapture or some shit… I dunno. It was great what they gave us and it’s probably better they left them separate, I just wish there was more tough heh.[/details]

Aaaaaaaaaaanyways, great game, go buy it, it’s awesome!

“Tough” is relative… So how tough? I doubt it’s as tough as 1ccin Dodonpachi for example. I’m pretty sure is towards the “I died 15 times throughout the game instead of just 3!” which doesn’t really say much.

Do the Konami code and it will unlock it.

Tough for me and that’s all i really care about. shrug I’m not elite enough of in these games I guess.

This is why I mentioned other games to compare, to make the “scale” obvious for everyone.

Oh I dunno, I don’t really know FPS in that context. I found Bioshock 1 pretty tough (Even using the Vita-Chambers still felt like death to me)I’ll probably get laughed at but stuff like Halo on Legendary is a tough challenge for me, I did Deus Ex 1 recently that was quite challenging (I know you can make it super easy but I dunno the builds in the game like that).

I’m sure for guys who really live for FPS games or whatever it probably wont be the hardest thing in the world, but i think for most everyone else it will offer the challenge they seek, if they are that type of person. Lord knows I find most action games pretty easy even on the hardest diffs while most people find them impossible, but I try to temper my experience in the genre against that to when making a general claim. I think one looking for a good solid challenge in Bio-Inf will find it in 1999 mode should hard mode prove to be too easy.

Not much in this world is as tough as Cave shooters tho, that’s certainly aiming for the top hehe.

1999 mode is seems like a challenge you can actually do.
-No need to actually use your money as shield can be upgraded and is constantly refilled. Liz throws you bath salts/money/ammo
-You get revived immediately as long as you got money.

1999 mode? more like Nineteen ninety fray mode.

lol first time I fought a Siren it was like 4am, my housemates probably weren’t thrilled.

I found if you didn’t deal with the zombies fast enough, you were fucked. For the most part, I would just hurl fully leveled devil’s kiss at them as they spawned, which would hit everybody and usually kill them. Then just pump round after round into the bitch.

Handymen, fuck those guys. Best advice is keep fucking around on rails until they reach up and grab the rails and electrocute them. Then just drop down and pump round after round into their heart while they’re stuck reaching for the lines…

I really wish there had been more Songbird moments. My other gripe is that they didn’t properly discuss the vigor’s. Sure, some dude invented them. How were they different than plasmid’s? Plasmid’s coming from that weird ass sea sponge was a pretty major plot point in the first game. Now we just have super powers (that mysteriously most enemies can’t use) for no reason.

Also with the greater emphasis on melee combat, would a block or dodge been so bad? Kinda sucked in 1999 mode when you get those early melee moments and you swing at a guy, and see another one already swinging at you and you know you got nothing to do but lose health.

I finally started playing a bit. My version is “special” in that I have the season pass activated, so I’m the man with the golden gun! www.twitch.tv/sonicabid <-- I have 2 short videos up, I’ll be streaming for a couple of hours here in about 30ish or so though.

Game’s hilariously easy on Normal, you’re a God off the bat in this game. I think I’m going to change difficulty to Hard, the added shield makes things way to easy. Shield is so good they made it so you can’t even stack medpacks to heal anymore, which kind of sucks, but whatever. Health/Salts are everywhere, and ammo is never scarce either. You don’t have to manage your health packs/ammo/plasmid energy in this game like you do in BioShock 1 and 2 I feel.

Melee is way too good. If you get hit, you can now treat it like most other modern FPS games and just camp behind some cover until your shield refills. I like that you had to actually micro-manage your health before with medpacks, but it’s not really the case anymore in Infinite.

@FlameAngelz Game’s beautiful because the scope+artstyle is so beautifully fleshed out and realized. Yeah, games like Crysis 3 and Battlefield 3 beat this game in raw texture detail and effects, but BioShock Infinite is beautiful in other ways. Game’s super consistent too, I’ve only seen 1 shitty texture so far.

I am loving the little details and easter eggs in the game
