BioShock Infinite: It's a Bird! It's a Plane! It's Racism!

A pox on the house of any faggot who doesn’t mark their spoilers!

Just gettin outta da way.

But stealing from hardware developers or their random customers is totally cool though?

Open software is the stuff you don’t have to torrent.

Lack of money is an excuse for pirating, not a reason. Lack of money is a reason to do without.

Damn, make sure you take in the scenery everywhere you go. Really amazing environment. Enjoying the game a lot so far.

Holy fuck, I have this running at ultra high graphics, and it’s blowing me away. I am looking at every little sign, statue, face.

[details=Spoiler]I think I saw the same dude twice. I kinda casually was like “hey how u doin” to me twice"

also I saw a mockingbird twice…theme possibly, foreshadowing, secret mind control wtfness? Seriously, the previous two games have me questioning everything.[/details]

oh and the moment that sets it all of, lololol yeah it involves racism, but its not racist. Kudos for throwing racism into a game in a good way.

Pretty pissed I couldn’t throw the ball at that asshole though.

LEMME RIDE SOME FUCKING RAILS

downloading now. i pre ordered it on steam so I have xcom, bioshock 1 and tf2 items too (n_n)

So what do you guys think of Elizabeth? At first I thought she would be annoying with her “Hey here have this” until I realized it was awesome pauses in battle to refill my meters, or free money (which she needs to find more of, and bigger amounts). And she is actually a GODLY companion. No need to protect her, or look where she is or worry about her getting caught up in terrain. Just let her change your whole world.

This is probably the greatest single player game I have ever played so far.

edit:

Spoiler

Got damn, when she leaves you, you feel naked again. Thank God it’s quick. But now she’s all pouting and shit, and I am pissed at my main character now. Also, I have an urge to rule34 that shit.

Is it fucked that I was worried that since this was single player only, I would do one playthrough, and that would be that, and then I’d rave or rant about it, and move on…yet I already wanna show this game off to friends, as well as play through again and try out different things…

Yes, Double POSTing.

This game is beyond incredible.

Opening 14 minutes of the game:

Seriously, spoils nothing, but makes you want to fucking play the fuck out of this first hand. I swear, several times while watching this on youtube, I tried to move my mouse around and look at things, I was so used to doing it in the game.

I’m curious what people on console think of it visually.

edit: this is easily the greatest FPS experience I have ever had.

The ending a little convoluted. Some things are never explained properly or don’t make any sense.

Just finished my first play through. The ending is crazy. I’m not sure what to think of it yet. I’d have to check again but I think I only found around half the Voxaphones so maybe there is more stuff in there that will help sort it out.

Spoiler

Short return to Rapture was pretty crazy

Also there’s a stinger after the credits apparently. Need to go back and check it out.

As an aside is there a way to pick up a Vigor you once had but dropped for another? I wanted to get some of the ones I dropped back but could never figure out how, the bottles just said “Salts” on em, and it didn’t look like you could switch them up in the menu either. Is it really a “Once you drop em their gone” thing or am i just too stupid to figure out how to get them back? I accidentally dropped Bucking Bronco and regretted it the whole time.

I heard the ending is REALLY fucked up, but is also possibly one of the only faults. And I saw that spoiler because I quoted this post, FUCK lol…

Thanks for the warning.

On consoles you have to go through a menu to change your vigors, you don’t actually throw them away. On the PC, you can just use numbers 1-10 to change from vigor to vigor.

Really wish they would have just left the name plasmid.

Ah sorry for the spoiler man. I tried. I debated even putting it there. Guess i should have just left it out.

I actually like the name Vigor better…Shrug

How do you change them in the menu? I couldn’t figure it out…

I wanna play this on PC, i bet it looks incredible.

No, no worries. I just learned to be more careful what I quote lol. And I was kinda hoping that happened anyways

lol I liked Plasmid. It just throws me off, when I look for machines or check my inventory. No more tonics, now we got gear.

No clue on the consoles. It might be in the same menu where you change your gear, or you might just hold a button, and it brings up a wheel with all your Vigors on it (you can do that too on the pc, so I am assuming it might be in consoles then too). Check your instruction manual lol.

Definitely the most beautiful looking game I have seen on this computer, ever. Shits all over Skyrim, Witcher 2, and I’d say gives Crysis 3 a run for it’s money.

Ah man you know what, I completely forgot about holding down the “weapon” buttons to cycle through them…I always just toggled. I bet that’s how you do it. Damn. Oh well, forced me to learn how to use more of the Vigors. I got really good with The water one and the shield one by end of the game so i guess it worked out for the best in the end, I ended up getting to put a lot more of them to the grind stone then I probably would have had I known how to switch them.

I liked Plasmid cuz it really fit the setting and sciency explination for how they worked, the Vigors work different and don’t have that explanation behind them so I like them having a different name. I love the bottle designs for the Vigors to, I’d buy a whole replica set of them if they made em.

And man hopfully this year will be the year i get to join the gaming master race. Fingers crossed on future plans

you should try combining the vigors. Flaming crows, anyone?

I managed to play this for a few hours on launch day, and the game is fan-freaking-tastic. Unfortunately, due to work, I won’t be able to play it until next week. Game left me with a great first impression, though. I’m eager to play it again.

I got it for the PC, but my computer’s rather dated for this game. My processor is about five years too old for this game. So, it chugs pretty consistently even on the lowest possible settings. Every other spec I have is pretty much on the mark for highest quality play, I just need to upgrade my processor. This is a game I want to be able to play at 60 FPS at the highest settings, so I needs to upgrade. :[

Oh well, after five years I’m due for a new mobo and processor. :]

Did anyone else just drop their jaw and ogled at every detail when they first got into the city? I don’t see how the PS3/360 could do this game justice, its absolutely breathtaking on a decent rig.

Yo stayed up till 4 am to beat this so i can get back to not ignoring my wife, freaking amazing game.

Spoiler

Ending is sorta lost-ish, but has some cool stuff going on with it. Props to them for taking a risk and doing something real creative, I kinda called the twist 2/3rds into the game!

Combat is pretty fun, they streamline the weapons and powers a bit so you don’t feel super overpowered, and there definitely is an emphasis on taking cover more (they did a good job weaving in the shield mechanic without the COD ‘duck to heal bullet wounds’ absurdity), I’m running wild with the hand cannon.

Excited to try some new stuff next play thru, with a focus on powering up weapons and vigors I haven’t focused on much.

Spoiler

the jump moment is pretty amazing too!!! I lost it!

The best part is the world they created, the game does so much storytelling without being overt, you just look around at everything and understand why this world is so amazing and horrifying.

Also props for making THE best AI sidekick in any game ever!!! Probably the best voice acting since uncharted 2.

It’ll be fun to play through again, and really enjoy the intricacies of the plot and the level design, and experiment with some new combat techniques. Post on up with your thoughts, I’d love to hear how people are liking it!

Oh shit you can combine the Vigors?

I went back and replayed the ending to get the after credits stinger. Perfection.

I adore this game, plain and simple.

If you’ve seen the ending:

[details=Spoiler]All the endings written on the net are terrible at best. I have yet to see the bioshock infinite ending explained well and in detail. Anyway, here is my interpretation:

Comstock is future Dewitt in every reality with the exception of the one reality you play through the game with. There are multiple dimensions. A loop got started when Dewitt in one reality (let’s call this alpha reality) chose to take a baptism, rename himself, figure out trans-dimensional time travel and found Columbia using future technology.

For whatever reason Comstock is sterile (due to time travel technology?) and chooses to take Elizabeth/Anna from a different reality so that he may have a heir, setting off a loop that would change every Dewitt to Comstock and repeat the whole sequence of events. The only way to terminate this loop is to kill Dewitt in the alpha reality before he has a life changing baptism. The Dewitt you played through in the game was the only one that was lured to Columbia by time travelers that were working for Comstock, most likely because they feared for their own lives.

Elizabeth/Anna probably got her god-like powers when her pinky finger was severed by the portal.

I imagine that killing off alpha Dewitt before he infects other realities would negate the existence of all Comstock’s and all Elizabeth’s in every reality. Elizabeth and Comstock would instead exist simply as Anna and Dewitt and the ending after credits kind of confirms this.

So this just came in the mail 5 minutes ago. Well there goes my Wednesday…
