I think most of the people playing him now will eventually move on to something else / go back to what they were doing before. People are only just now seeing how strong he can be, once people start adjusting and adapting to the character all of the hate will die down.
How can they not hate us.
Spencer’s got health, damage, mobility, and a lvl 1. that plows through a lot of stuff.
Gonna suck playing Spencer mirror matches.
He isn’t nearly as pick up and play as the other top tier so I expect most people to drop him pretty quick. Same goes for Doom.
Mirror matches against Spencer aren’t bad against people who don’t know what they’re doing. Just bait out the Bionic Arm and air throw them out of horizontal zips 'cause they don’t know any better.
More like watch them throwbreak the counterthrow and then you get nothing, oh
I try to grab him out of the air with M claw shot but I miss and get comboed. It’s gonna be harder since zip line is faster now.
I usually tag Spencer out when another Spencer is on the screen; usually to the character in the second slot. That way I can DHC into Lancer in case he tries to punish with his.
If the most probable outcomes of that scenario are “throwbreak and situation reset” and “I get free combo” I’ll take that scenario any day. Expected value for the win.
And M.D. I wouldn’t recommend that unless you have a really good read on where they’re going to be and what they’re going to do. On the ground and in the air Spencer is quite vulnerable (especially since in the air he’s prone until he lands). Instead, capitalize on that knowledge and use it to your advantage. Wait until the opponent tries to wire grapple, then punish.
While assists and such change the dynamics, all mirrors are generally advantageous if you know the character better than your opponent and put that information to good use.
So there’s a patch coming by year’s end. They haven’t said anything about balance patches, but. I mean, we might be losing UVG. Let’s say I wouldn’t be surprised.
I was thinking the same thing, chances are I’ll be dropping Spencer if it happens… but its been a good year, NO REGRETS!
Oh goddamnit. I remember when we found out about UVG kinda late in MvC’s lifecycle… I figured "well, it probably won’t be in Ultimate, so I just won’t spend the time learning these UVG combos…"
Of course, UVG stayed in, and I’ve spent the last couple weeks practicing, I’m the fool. If they take it out now, I’ll feel dumb twice.
… won’t stop me from maining Spencer though
I’m a scrub, can someone tell me what UVG means?
Unscaled vertical grapple?
Well derp.
People knew it didn’t scale within the first couple of days of Vanilla. I really don’t know why Capcom thought it was necessary to remove his vertical zipkick loop, but the unscaled grapples were somehow ok. Unpatched Vanilla Spencer has tons of TOD’s because of it.
picked up spencer for nova synergy, but i’m have a lot of problems w/connecting after the wall bounce of QCF TK+ H. any way to get this more consistently? I can get the followup 3-4 hits into down-forward zipline consistently but timing the fall is killin me. i dont like going right into qcf+s on the ground cause i know i could be getting more out of it
thanks
Hey. So how do u stop or avoid Spencers grapple arm? if u block ur screwed, if u don’t ur screwed?
Edit: the air one where he zips toward you
95% of the cast can just magic series to punish it if it isn’t covered by an assist on block, worst case scenario you’re the one getting the blockstring and he isn’t.
Sometimes I like to empty grapple up to people and immediately THC.
Y’know, keep 'em honest.
Edit: I usually yell surprise when I do it, too, and If I get a combo off of it after I win I throw up my arms and cackle loudly.
I’m a good sport. Kinda.
Thanks. So you magic series after he comes down or you meet him in the air?
It depends on how close to you and how high he is when he grapples, you want to avoid letting him hit the ground because he’ll instantly recover
