A lot of factors go into that, distance from edge of the screen, where the OTG grapple hit them, some characters fall faster. sometimes you cant follow it up with a super unless you team hyper combo, and is only worth it if you have someone with a beam super. imo

most of the time that combo is just a judgement call.

so if the combo doesn’t hit should I just let them fall?

if, as soon as you land, you think it wont hit. Yes.

Like I said, how to end the combo is a judgement call. as you play youll know what to expect & what will work?
outside of doing a super, you can do a Zip-line downforward and go for a relaunch/reset. or just do another air wire grapple

I have seen a lot of videos where Spencer links a standing S with a QCF H. Is there a particular timing to make that connect?

You have to do the H grapple as a tk move, so it’s like you’re doing the otg…same motion, but different result since S would normall make you super jump.

S xx qcuf (quarter circle up-forward) + H.

Also be careful to make sure that you’re underneath them (not too far offset) or the up grapple won’t touch them. Enjoy :slight_smile:

More precisely, you use the same motion as you would for a TK but you don’t delay the button press after going to up-forward. This is because the objective is not to jump and then instantly do an up, but because jump startup can be cancelled to special moves, and hitting up will cancel :s: into a super jump. In other words, you jump-cancel-cancel from :s: to :qcf::uf::h:.

In the interest of having the UMvC3 character threads be as awesome as possible, I am posting here to offer up my current Ultimate Dormammu Thread as a base skeleton to anyone who intends to manage a character thread, or something similar, in Ultimate. It is currently stripped of information, and will remain so until about a week before release. I am not attempting to toot my own horn, but rather offer to others what took me quite a bit of work to do, so that those who would rather not spend the time on such things do not have to.

I have received a lot of compliments to-date about the structure, and a few people have requested permission to use its structure for UMvC3, so I thought I would go around and make the offer to others who might not be aware that someone out there has already done the grunt work for them (haha). Because I am posting this in all the character forums, and this is time consuming on its own, I have not taken the time to check for how developed the thread I am posting on current is. Thus, I ask that no one be offended at my suggestion if your character forum is well constituted already - I mean no intrusion upon your methodologies!

And big lols at being able to super cancel the L followup to grapples, what the hell were they thinking?

Guess he also recovers quicker from armor piercer too, he can land a launcher after connecting it midscreen.

ahahaha goddamn this is gonna be awesome. loving the use of DFA there. Supercanceling Grapple-A is amazing. maybe I should of learned how to do a couple vertical Grapple-A with my team. lol

or ill just use Persona’s relaunch combo to avoid the wallbouce till later since DFA is amazing, I thought it was a ground bounce, not a Knockdown OTG.

im having a really hard time landing mid screen combos with him…after grapple and then grapple dash i always miss .

i had the exact same problem…what i realized helped was when you diagnal zip to him and hit him with j.H, you land and jump and do j.M, j.H…into watever follow up…the timing has definately changed…(UMVC3 of coarse)
