Big Bang Beat

nice stuff i love the combos…

Finally got to play the demo. Anyone else feel the game is a bit too fast paced and needs to be slowed down just a bit?

I’m not used to the speed but aside from that it looks great. Can’t say it play’s great, I can cancel almost anything, it feels like Melty Blood.

Anyway I only played it for a few minutes. That girl with the sword appeals to me but I still don’t got down the gist of the battle system (minus boost and whatnot). I haven’t even done vs. Comp or anything so I just entered practice mode for a while and thats that. I’ll wait for an update (or the full release of the game). It’s alright, just flashy but its got potential.

If anything its really close to Melty Blood.

I don’t think we’ve seen the extent of what this game has to offer yet. a) it’s a demo with 2 characters, b) I don’t see anybody else talking about how deep they can take the system; where are the other people talking about combos with charging in the middle of them? To date I’ve only seen one mention of charging-while-comboing, and that was… my post lol.

The way I see this game thus far, most of the fighting is meter management, spacing, and picking your shots to flat out kill someone. Dunno how mixups are going to look when the other characters are available, but right now it looks like there’s going to be a lot of battling for momentum, dictated by multiple meters to keep track of and how much you’re willing to commit to try to break your opponent’s defense, and how much you want to save to keep yourself out of trouble if the tables turn. Meter seems like it determines so much in this game, ironic that super meter builds faster than special meter in most instances!

Will this game be super competitive? Who knows.

Ya i guess we will just have to deal with being impressed for a while. Did they announce any changes that they plan/planned on making to this? I mean the game comes out this month right?

yeah one thing im seeing is meter management will play a decent role, because you can sacrifice damage for meter (lol), and change your positioning slightly for gems, and your damage comes from two different meters not one, meaning some damage may be worth sacrificing for not losing a meter your low on.

poking… is something that is bad to talk about considering two pretty barebones characters were released.

mixups I can’t really comment on but based on the game so far I can honestly say this game looks like it will have a lot of 50/50s if all characters can Dashthingy.

it has potential and its only the first game, so it will probably be improved upon. GGX really wasn’t that good of a game and SF3:New Generation, and almost every first iteration of every game was probably way more terrible than this is looking to be so I guess I’ll hold off comments.

The game looks REALLY nice though, I have to say it’s the best looking doujin fighter I’ve seen (Melty Blood would be better if the characters werent the same person in a slightly different color skirt), the music isnt terrible either. its one of the more polished fighters i’ve seen haha.

I feel like the only thing that could stop this game from owning is imbalance(2 characters dominate) or some stupid ass glitch(es).

Hmm is there any specific reason why Enhance would be one button? It seems like it’s useful but not deserving of a seperate button.

WHO KNOWS

Also there are some hilarious glitches but I dunno if those are fixed… they PATCHED THE DEMO. Hardcore.

The Senna 63214D glitch is awesomely stupid, I dunno how that one works out ;(

Actually I honestly doubt 2 characters will dominate with the way this game is set up. Still possible I guess though, but I get the feeling the tiering will be fairly even with the characters with fast 50/50’s being on top.

I think actually the most likely thing that will stop the game from being really good is the lack of depth. It’s nice for when you don’t want to think or if you don’t really have good execution, but it would be hard to hold my interest for long because I feel like I’ve already pretty much learned the game. It being for PC only kinda hurts it’s chances of being anything but a side game as well unless it gets popular enough for an arcade release.

Still too early to tell though those are just my initial impressions, I guess we’ll see once the full game is released.

Obviously, without having the other characters, it’s hard to say how the balance is gonna’ go, but from playing this game for several hours with friends, I’m getting a very good vibe from it. I have no problem with the combos being somewhat easy. I like that they feel very “custom” and loose. I never thought things like tactics and poking should ever be out-shined by the execution requirements. 3S is one of the greatest games in history (to many of us here), and the execution requirements are pretty low in that game, comparitively…being based much more on whether you can see the situation and react to it in time. There’s enough complexity in BBB’s system that you’ll be able to branch at several points in the combo whether you’ll go for damage or saving meter, or positioning. Meter-management, like was said, is going to be paramount, since if you have a ton of it you can beast like crazy. All in all, this game has serious potential to really stand out from the crowd. One of the biggest things for me so far is that it just feels very “complete”. Extremely polished for a demo. Character design is fantastic, too. Yay for thieving from H-Games.

Let’s just pray that Japanese arcades start to see windows machines hooked up to arcade cabinets running this game.

Heh, if NRF and Alicesoft are smart, they should be considering this already. After all, hosting loke tests at TRF and such are fine, but why stop there? When the official release is out, they should definitely run up a deal with Arcade owners to allow custom rigs in the joint, so people could play this game in the streets, and not just at home.

I mean sure, running a cabinet from PCs is probably unorthodox, but it can’t be any more costly to set up than buying new Lindbergh/Taito X rigs. And I would imagine that being able to install most updates for a PC game, for a fraction of the price that it would take to buy another board or other conventional arcade game update, would be attractive too.

It could be an interesting situation, for sure. Hopefully they’ll work something out and get this sucker into arcades. The fact that they did it for their location tests points at an underlying effort to do just that (crosses fingers).

They patched the friggin’ demo?!? My GOD! The devlopment team fucking kicks ass!

Where can I download the patch? I checked the main site, but I didn’t see anything.

As far as balance goes, from my limited experience the characters that have far downward reaching jump attacks (Senna, from the looks of it, Agito) are going to be very good just for 8~D instant overheads. And at the same time in the demo it worked on Rouga but not Senna, so it’ll depend who it works on. From pure speculation it seems like it’ll just not work on the girls.

It’s kind of funny because NRF clearly made all the overhead options plainly blockable. Rouga’s 6a is super slow, there is a long freeze when doing 2d, and in one of the match videos I noticed Kunagi doing her ground/air dash thing into a huge air normal, but it was crouch-blockable. If Senna or anyone else can do the 8~d overhead on most characters, I think it’ll play a significant role in balance.

EDIT downloading the patch now, ill be impressed if they fixed this

EDIT 2 the download is here at the top: http://rapid.vis.ne.jp/NRF/download.html

EDIT 3 I can’t tell the difference so far. All the same stuff works, including the stage select bug.

Blame Crimson Disaster if by the time the full game comes out, most of these combos don’t work!

It’s always his fault! ;_;!!

A quick question: Is the bbb_try101 the full game or is it necessary to download the original bbb_try as well? Just wanting to dick around a bit and was curious as to which I needed to download.

I think bbb_try101 is the patch… not sure. Anyway…

Last night I played it a bit longer, this time with Rouga instead of Senna and on CPU mode instead of Practice. Though I am sure most of you already know most of the stuff I’ll put on here (and even more).

Glitches:

Not important just thought I would mention it since everyone else seemed to put up a few glitches on this game :stuck_out_tongue: If you boost on the ground and keep tapping 2A the blue shadows stays behind Rouga even if you slightly delay the jabs. This doesn’t occur with other normals or while he is jabbing and standing up. I was hoping to discver some form of a wall infinite, lol.

System Basics:

-Crouch + Boost = Small Jump (can get you behind opponent after knock down)
-Small Jump in mid air (down & boost in air)
-qcb+E = Guard Cancel/Counter? (It was hard to tell since Senna was owning me in vs. COM mode)

Rouga Basics:

-5B, 2C Jump Cancelable
-When opponent is in the air, 213+B on Counter = Bounce
-236C connects if you canceled the above immediately.
-236C a good set up?
-6A can be used to get behind opponent after knock down.
-Boost 6+A from a distance = useful?

Also, I find that his 236C is pretty damn useful. I don’t know if fellow Senna players will be spamming her range as well, but I do know that if you get it out fast enough you can stop a lot of her crap. The beam will basically beat her range and pokes. I would imagine this being the same for everyone else. I’ve stopped myself from getting combo’ed a shit load of times already because that Beam attack came out before I got combo’ed. It’s kind of like phsychic DP’ing.

Combo’s:

-Easy OTG combo (2C or 2B2C into 5B, 5C anti-airgrab or 5B, 5C qcfA,qcbB,qcbC)
-(with Opponent on wall) 236C, jC, 5B5C anti-airgrab, [boost] 5B5C 214C [boost] 5B5C anti-airgrab (50%)
-jC, 5B5C, 214A,214B,214C [boost] 5B5C anti-airgrab

Other useless 50% combo’s:
(w/ opponent on wall)
jC, 5B5C, 214A,214B xx 214B-Action(super) [Crouch Boost] j.C, 2B2C, 214A,214B,214C [Boost] 5B5C anti-airgrab

Didn’t play much again but it was hard trying to play Senna when she spammed the shit out of me in CPU mode with all of her normals.

I like this game more now that I have played Rouga. The boost options are better than that of HnK IMO. Also that orange bar that acts as Stamina reminds me of AoF where you couldn’t perform moves untill it regens.

What kind of ps2 adapter are you using? mine is Superbox3pro from Madrics.
Have you got some problems lags with yours?

All i wanted to say is that there is 2 possibilities:
1-the timing command are hard to made.
2-my ps2 adapt. suxx.
3- I sux

This Game roxxxxx i want to buy it!! any idea where to pr-order it??

only thing i noticed about the patch so far is that u can no longer
enhance in between rounds. you can still charge though.

Enhance is kinda like a taunt that power u up right?
Im a little confuzed on it cause it just seems kinda pointless at times. Cause rather then taunting when u knockdown the opponent, u can set up ur pressure game. For example both Ryoga and Senna have projectile like things they can put out.
