Got some stick projects lined up.
I got to remember to document the process so I can type of some proper worklogs for Tech Talk

I hear ya.
Being in self-isolation mode and working from home has gotten me plenty of time to work on painting a few wooden arcade stick cases for some close friends that I had cut up and glued up last November, but there was pretty much no progress in the last few months. At least now when taking a break from work, I head down to the garage and spray a coat.
3 out of the 4 casings are fully painted and clear-coated in the last 2 weeks, the last one has the main body painted and coated, but the decorative sides have not been painted because the future owner has not decided on his colors yet.
Yeah i want to make actual work logs and guides again, we need to move away from this live journal nonsense.
finally thought i would complete some stick mods after years and the only UK supplier is out of black seimitsu screw in buttons and ls-40 leversā¦
Aww man, that really sucks.
On an aside, screw-in Seimitsu buttons and LS-40s are my favorites too.
Funny b/c I went LS-40 to LS-32. Maybe an LS-38 spring would change me back
I actually went the other way, LS-32 to LS-40.
I prefer the LS-40, but Iām still ok with an LS-32.
Had initially designed these back in December 2017.
Did a redesign (mostly to make the build process easier) in early October 2019.
The red/black and P5 Makoto art was done as a mockup for the friend who ended up going with an Azur Lane theme (see below)
Started cutting up the MDF on October 6th 2019.
Worked pretty well during the following weeks; by October 21st 2019, case was shaped, top-panels were drilled, plexi tops and ABS bottoms were cut and sized.
Thenā¦ did nothing until late March 2020.
But self-isolation and social distancing makes you pick up projects again. These are the four as of April 3rd 2020.
Everything has been painted an clear-coated since March 30th. Gonna let this stuff sit in my garage and cure for another week or two before I put some wax on it, and start putting in the parts and wiring things up.
last case could pass for an obsidian
top level workā¦
And a certain someone is going back on my āignoreā list.
I had him there for a while, then I removed him thinking that he mightāve changed a bit. Nope. Back on the ignore list he goes.
Me thinks I see extra joystick plate holes for some Seimitsu goodness on the āLast one is for meā
Excellent work, as usual, @FreedomGundam
Thanks for the compliments!
You have a good eye, thatās exactly what theyāre for!
My personal one can accommodate for both Sanwa and Seimitsu sticks (the inside has been routed out to fit a Semitsu S-plate). The ones for others will only work with JLFs; since they not big stick aficionados like I am, Iāll always have them use the standard JLF + Sanwa OBSF combination, until they get used to them and can figure out for themselves what they like and donāt like.
In retrospect I probably shouldāve routed and drilled the Seimitsu-compatible holes in their casings as well, but the MDF got a little thin around the joystick-hole, and I didnāt feel like building a spacer a the time.
Last last weekend it rained in the Bay Area so I wasnāt able to go to my storage locker. And then this past weekend it rained AGAIN! But I was starting feel like my eyes were coming down with CV (composite video) sickness, so Saturday I braved the cold, and dug out my official Nintendo Component cable.
Got 'em! Woo! ( They were actually $41.99 not $45, but whoās counting, given the price they go for now-a-days. )
One problem thoughā¦
The Psyclone Pro S-Video/AV cable is twice as long as the Nintendo cable. WHY!?!?!?
Some 4mm spiral wire wrap, zip ties, and 2 finger cramping hours later looky here looky here:
Will share some pics off of my CRT TV later, and later later hopefully I can get it hooked up to my old XRGB-2plus after I get that setup again ( long term goal tho, but just like @FreedomGundam , seems like thereās a lot more time for projects with everybody staying home and holding down back )
After three weeks in shippingā¦they arrived.
After connecting these from my Retro+UFB stacks to the passthrus, my HSS-0130 project will be complete (after two years of it sitting gutted on a shelf)
EDIT: Done!
Need to tidy up my wire work a bit later, but itās done! Iāll clean things up and post more pics on the new stick thread later in the week.
After seeing you finish your hss-0130 ive just ordered my parts from akishop, i know customs gonna sting me, but i wont get this kind of time againā¦
One day. One day Iāll own an HSS-0130. Itās definitely the top of my āgrailā sticks to own.
Googleāed a dude who made wooden replica HSS-0130 cases to drop panels into, maybe, heās still got someā¦
ā Looks like dude also has a cool replacment Dreamcast case in the works. ā
I swear there was someone on SRK that did the wooden astro city case too back in that day.
Edit:
Thanks @anzhar , found it
Yep @FreedomGundam already at level 17 of living his best life
im pretty sure that was the guy your replying to. freedomgundam
Why? You make custom 2 player sticks with cab panels. Thatās much nicer (and above my skill set).
Thatās nothin. Hursit made one of these from scratch:
You could combine juju from both the DC case AND the DIY HSS-0130, and they still wouldnāt hold a candle to that cab.
No real reason other than just to say āI have oneā.
Just like one day Iāll try to own Blast City.
Capcom Cutes areā¦ cute, and Iād love to own one too, but Iād much rather have a Blast City.
