Best Ultimate Tech Talk Hang Out Loud Edition Season V

Aksys is selling their BlazBlue TEs at 129.99 + shipping now.

Why won’t any of these companies ship to Canada?

A bit of shameless self promotion. Finally got around to adding Facebook “Like” and Twitter “Tweet” buttons to the stick art and custom build samples on d3vlicious.com.

Guess what I’ll be liking…

Just bought the new hori ex2 pad.
This thing is awesome, I seriously don’t understand how anyone can buy fightpads anymore, whether you use dpad or analog it does both better than any OEM 360 controller or MC fightpad. Also damn good for FPS.

Always found the EX2 awkward. Would rather use a Fighting Commander 3.

I tried playing sf for the first time ever on a oen 360 controller, and it was fucking shit… the d-pad just reminded me of shitty generic game pads i’ve used in the past… a little jitter from holding left or right renders a jump… that’s just bullshit… it was set up at Best Buy one day so i figured i’d gve it a try, i was amazed because I couldn’t score a single round against a medium hard balrog…

and for that I still love the OEN PS3 d-pads…

I can’t fucking get Street Fighter IV to work on my macbook.

Regarding the hori ex2 pad, did anyone find out if it’s common ground? It looks like it might have a hell of a lot of room in there.

wonderin if i should get a jlf for my SE or just replace the microswitches

Hmm, looking at an HSS-0136 for about $18 (Php 799 from a local seller). Tempted to get it but I’m not sure if it’s worth the price.

Ok, I’m going to take measurements of my New astro city CP, and you are going to help me d3v! :stuck_out_tongue:

That IS worth it, D3v! It’s worth it for the LS-56 and the buttons alone

That’s an absolute steal.

Good, more money to pay for “Project International Slumber.”

The thing isn’t mint though. And I really have no way of using it unless I find a converter. That said, what’s the word on modding these things?

Super moddable (this one is particularly insane).

Some HSS-0136s come with LS-56s stock, others (like the one in the link above) don’t, and instead have a generic stick allegedly by ASCII. You can tell which by lifting up the dust disc, but I guess that won’t work with an auction!

But either way, it’s an awesome case.

Slightly different note (though I’ll probably be picking up 0136), but after seeing this on Kotaku, I wonder if it’s possible to take one of those tiny projectors and integrate it into a stick with a small PC inside it.

Kotaku’s a little slow on this one. My friend already has a digital camera that can project your pics onto any surface. Fits in your pocket. 15" is a fair size for gaming. I think it would be more worthwhile when they’ll do images more like 50" so you can take it to friend’s houses/parties and have instant arcade brawling for everyone to enjoy not just the two people playing.

@ d3v :

I would be interested if something like that was done. If you could build a stick that’s big enough to hold in a computer, and have that small projector inside it, it should work. I’m just worried about the lag that might ensue because of projectors. In my experiences with projectors, they always have slight lag, and for me at least, it is hard to play on them.

i’ve been using my lg expo (with optional projector) for a few months now… been able to project over 60" so far, not the best quality, but add in cobalt controller (app to use a ps3 and wii controller in windows mobile) and i can play SF3 with some lag, but still playable!

Whoa, that guy is a STUD!
It’ll cost a fortune, but I may have to follow in his RGB-modding NES footsteps.

Any translation on how he got the turbo panel to work with the PCB, and would that work with say, a Cthulhu?
