… So, I’m almost done with the case that I bought from satek and I needed some opinions. I really want to dye the wood, but I’m not sure what color… I was thinking either white or pink, what do you guys think?
It needs new art. Luckily, I “know” a guy who can hook you up with some… for a price.
Is that the poplar or MDF case that Satek made? Can’t tell with this craptacular monitor at work

I’d like to find some way to justify making another joystick as I’ve already got 2, just recently finished one, and I’m the only one in the house who plays video games most frequently. This Knex Joystick idea is really blowing my mind…and I really want to try and build this, with a cthulu or komodo pad.

Blast city/Astro City, all are the same when it comes to their control panels. So if you want 2p12b (2 players, 12 buttons (6 on each side)) then just find a SEGA control panel that is just that. If you don’t care, you can use a Astro City in a Blast City. They are very common, and it is the only thing I regret when I picked up my Atomiswave cab vs. A SEGA cab.
The Chinese knock offs aren’t too bad if it is the kind I heard about in the past. The monitors are the things to go though, go figure…with that being said, it kind of puts you back to your original problem. So people say you just need to degauss them like 10 times and they are find, but in general, they are shoddy. If you are going for a vewlix, let me know. I need to order a two player control panel and may want to hop in on your order. Just remember, a vewlix does not handle old hardware well, and makes them look like trash. Some people can deal, I couldn’t.
Paint it. If you REALLY want stain, just get a stain-colored spray-paint and brush off each coat with a paper towel in the same direction to give it a grain effect. Just be warned that most stain-colored paints I’ve worked with are kinda orangish, so get a darker color than what you want (like dark cherry wood) and use at least four coats with a coat of clear coat. That’ll at least give it a shade stained effect.
And props for Project Diva. I want the sequel so badly, but it’s a little out of budget for me ATM.

omgomgomg I can’t fit the cabinet in my room. It is like half an inch to thick. I have to cal a friend over to see if we can bring it in sidewise and turn it in.
Also recommended: Game On Grafix - the largest variety of High quality arcade graphics. Pricier, but the print is hard to beat. And you can get it adhesive backed too

Depending on the model, you may be able to remove the control panel top an bottom, which should slim the whole thing by quite a few inches. On mine, that involves removing the whole front bottom panel, but if it gets it in…
nope didn’t work weve tried everything. We have to remove the whole bottom panel. My father is going to rape me. I think im going to throw it back on craigslist. Shame. If only I had the room. At least I got it at a good price and it’s in good condition (400 dollars)
