Best Ultimate Tech Talk Hang Out Loud Edition Season V

You’re in VA?! What college are you going to?

Also in my experience, if people in college play fighting games, they generally have pads, not sticks.

This is true, I think that’s probably why I use one

Anyone think its possible to build a PC (nothing high end, mostly just a functional box to watch streams on) in one of Art’s cases ?

There are PC acrylic cases you can buy.

yea, but not made by a member of our secret society …

That’s awesome! I hope my hallmates are as into fighting games as my roommate and I are.

I’m down right now at William and Mary. Orientation SUCKS though. Just saying.

Haha, yeah, I did bring my own stick; my trusted Hori Real Arcade Pro 2 SA that’s been with me pretty much forever. You guys are right though; my roommate’s rocking it out with a Mad Catz FightPad.

Dont worry, WAM is a great school, lotsa fun, and not far from a SoVA community of players… if i remember correctly… Plus the beach is only like an hour and a half away.

Ugh, realized that I forgot to add tags to all the posts I’ve made so far on my site. Now having to spend all this time to fix that (and add a tag cloud as well).

I’ve more or less done that with Korean joystick parts. TaeYung/Myungshin>>everything else.

Is it your money? If not, get a job. If so, shop elsewhere (Akihahabarashop.jp).

Alright, so what exactly is the microswitch soldered to the TP-MA? The Sanwa site lists them as V-01-3D5-A , but that just doesn’t exist in the datasheet for the Omron V family.
I’m trying to get some good measurements of the JLF and the spacing between the microswitches, but the only thing I have to go on from an official measurement is:

which shows 53mm (I hope not rounded) between the switch casing of one switch to the end of the solder tab of the other, but I can’t find the specs on the switches or the tabs.

If anyone has any brilliant and thorough measurements of the insides of a JLF or TP-MA, please, Id love to see them. I’m pretty sure from my own measurements that I have the value I’m looking for within about a tenth of a mm, but I’d like to do better than that.

It’s my money, but I was saving til I got a job. >_> well I have a job now, so I decided to get the parts. my OCD is finally fulfilled. i got an LS-32, LS-40 and PS-14-G buttons. I’m not so interested in LS-33 and LS-55, i’m satisfied

The Omron D3V-16-3A5 that MadCatz uses for the TvC stick should be pretty close to the ones on the TP-MA.

can someone please help me with a problem, I am trying to install a LS-32(seimitsu) joystick but my cases are to slim and it hits on the bottom plate. so the customer asked if a LS-33 would work? My case holds a JLF so the main thing is the length of the shaft the jlf works but the LS-32 is to long (no homo lol) so my question is, is the shaft length from the plate to the ball on a LS-33 the same as a JLF? as this problem is driving us both crazy, Please help

Shaft Length of JLF from Mounting Plate to bottom of Ball Top is 32mm being.
Shaft Length of LS-32 from Mounting Plate to bottom of Ball Top is 25.5mm being.

damn I thought so, so it looks like I’m going to have to build a new case for him If there are any seimitsu sticks that are the same as the JLF that would aslo help and thank you for that lightning fast response jdm714

Holy crap, that’s awesome!

So I was at a Fry’s Electronics yesterday, and they set up a PS3 and some SE arcades sticks in a dual player configuration. It was pretty cool.
But some dickhead stole or lost the ball top for player 1.

Well today I needed something from Fry’s and went to my parts box and pulled out a pink balltop I am probably going to never use, I have 2 of them. I had a white SE one, but figured that people who steal would be too homophobic to steal anything pink. Went back to Fry’s to get that thing I needed for my next stick and came up to the display. There was somebody playing on it so I decided to go shop around until the guy went away. I came back and like ninja snapped the pics and put on the ball top and then walked away. Went to look around the store and on my way back saw the guy there again that was on before and he was playing some other people. Must have been a WTF moment for him and probably some of the employees.

How nice of you. :lovin:

have you guys ever experienced any abnormal speedup/slowdowns when playing on the ssf4 on the ps3?

So if you have been following my previous comments. I went to the arcade to prescope the machines.

Typical chinese richmond arcade I guess. All the machines were dingy. The machines definetly need alot of work. The vinyl’s were all destroyed and then I went to the sf4 machines. They were blast city’s that they converted to sf4 machines. And to my knowledge judging by the setup, the machines moniter’s can’t really run sf4, and you could tell when I played it also I believe it damages the moniters. Not only that when I played the game in japan on an actual sf4 machine back in april rose and cammy were chooseable. I could only chose 16 characters, and the menu’s were very odd. I have a feeling this is a hacked machine running sometype of bootleg. Also when I used c.viper I was able to link cr.mp and her electricity move on an infinite loop. The parts in most of the machines were of poor quality.

Now I don’t know what the machines are going to be but I have a feeling they are not true blast city, and could be a copy of some type of chinese clone.

I guess I should prepare myself. I shoudl make sure the the blast cities have a vga output and to see how much work needs to be done. It’s going to need new paint.
