hmm how much would that approximately cost? the stick I’m looking to mod is a custom made stick, its dual modded for ps3/360, just need it to work on ps2 as well.
also if the price is reasonable I might do the ps2 mod to my TE S as well(would that be possible?)
See, thats the thing. It all depends.
If its a custom made stick, I don’t know what PCBs it uses. I can tell they’re common ground, its very possible its a Chimp in there, it could be a Cthulhu (which would make matters very easy), there are a few scenarios. There are a few solutions I could think of, your best bet would be to get in contact with someone in the trading forums that has a thread up for modding. (I haven’t yet taken that plunge… I’ve been doing local work mostly)
The TE-S is also do-able, if its 360 the better, but it can be done no matter what.
On a side topic, should I set up shop on SRK for mods? I’m starting to run out of locals that need mods. lol
If I’m going to a tournament its to play 3rd Strike, and fall asleep during Super Street Fighter IV (its like watching molasses ugh). Afraid I won’t be able to stay still long enough to do dual mods at tournaments hahaha
hey guys i have a question and i hope some of you can help me.
i want to make a head to head setup with my xbox using vga monitors, thing is since i need to split the vga signal will a cheap 50 cent splitter do? or do i need to look for something better to guarantee it wont lag?
You shouldn’t have anything to worry about, as long as you’re staying within reasonable cable length (the more cable = the more power drawn). I see no reason why you’d have lag from a vga splitter, but I could be wrong (if so someone please chime in)
After it gets larger, I am hoping to get it exported to the Trading Thread so it is easy to find you guys to do services, with out the 100 modding threads loading down the trading area as it stands now.
So I’m about to ship off for my first year in college. I’m planning to bring my tool set with me (soldering iron, Dremel, etc.) so I can do mods with it while I’m down there. Hopefully there will be enough of a community there that needs dual-modded sticks, yeah? Or at the very least, I hope I just get some use of my tools period.
ok, I’m honestly thinking about buying an arcade cabinent and restoring it for my place. What would I have to do to get a mame emulator working with this? Would I have to put a PC inside the cabinent. I’m a 100% noob to this. and then would I have to buy say, a 2 SE/TE sticks and use their pcb’s to hook to the computer?
The easy way is to swap out the monitor, stick a PC in the cabinet, and wire up the controls. You can use Chimps or whatever - no particular need for SE/TEs.
Ah ok. What do you generally swap out the moniter for? If I get a blast city, I wonder if I have to do any modification as most moniters now adays are widescreen. But computer moniters would make the most sense. I’d also have to add a mouse and keyboard somewhere in the cabinet.
If I ever get my MAME cabinet project off the ground and running, I’d like to have custom arcade tokens minted for it using this design by a buddy of mine.
I’m going to look at the cabinets. I have a choice between new astro city, astro city and blast city. If I’m putting my own monitor in it all that matters is the aesthetics of the machine right?
Nooooooo way dude! You don’t have to swap out monitors when dealing with candies (well some). Lol. Get a “Hi-rez” or 31khz Monitor Candy Cab and you are all set, they have a straight VGA in. So out of your choices, go with the Blast City. It is has a “Tri-sync” monitor. This allows you to play 15khz (old school jamma like Pac-man to Neo-Geo)/24khz (semi modern boards that except it)/and 31khz (VGA goodness). You need a Capcom I/O or a Audio Board from say a Naomi to get sound out of the cab’s speakers should you hook your PC up to it. Or you could just go for a 2 speaker set on the edge of the CP or something of that nature.
But yeah, it is all set up, so all you need to do is add the PC, figure out your sound solution, and wire up the CP and you are good to go. The Blast City is more expensive then the Astro, but it comes with the fact that it is a newer cabinet, and it has that nifty Tri-sync monitor.
is anyone else ever tempted to buy all the different kinds of parts and trying them out?
so far i’ve tried a Sanwa JLF and Seimitsu LS-56 (Octo), as well as Sanwa snap-ins and Seimitsu GNC screw-ins. But I really want to buy an LS-32, LS-40, and LS-33. Just so i’ve tried em all. There are PS-14-G now in new special colors, I’ve never tried PS-14-G but heard so much about the awesome “planar” buttons. I want to buy em all! lol but that’s over $100 of stuff. I’d get an earful from the folks if I spent any more money at Lizardlick lol
