I got into it because I couldn’t fid a happ stick. It kind of took off from there. Hell, El Kabong is probably more advanced than anything DSP managed.
Now, where’s that bottle of Crown I have…

I am getting increasingly frustrated with Frontier DSL. I am having to call tech support for the tenth time in 5 months with slow throughput issues. I had to literally get pissed off enough at an agent that they escalated me to a supervisor in July to get it fixed. That process took 3 weeks.
Last week, it started happening again. Not as bad as July, but noticeable. I called support, and they assured me resetting my modem and router would fix it, which on the interim, seemed to.
Tonight, netflix won’t load, getting 1 bar connections in ssf4, and even downloading simple droid apps takes a long time. Run a speedtest, sure enough, between 200-500kbps down, normal up.
This is irritating. And yet, I’m stuck. Switching to a local telco takes two months. Not joking. They have to clear everything with (surprise!) Frontier. And cable, meh…hear nothing but negatives about mediacom.
I just hope I still have a voice in 2011.
I will admit. Arguing with someone at Verizon has got to be one of the most frustrating points in my life. I usually have to tell whoever I’m speaking to on the other line that I am at least intermediate level in networking knowledge, right off the bat. So they don’t pull that “Restart Modem” shit with me. Because I’ve most likely tried it already, and possibly every other procedure they are going to give me.
ISP’s have to be the only companies that offer you a service, that can seem to get you so pissed off when it comes to tech support.
Well I think God heard my plea for mercy and dumped a fellow geek in my lap. He heard me listing off everything I’m supposed to do amd within a minute, discovered it was intermittent route, escalated, done.
Now if the field tech doesn’t pull the old hurr durr.
Just glad I have my droid now. This 3g sevice will be useful in the interim.
And I actually worked for verizon tech support 4 years ago.
I did it to be able to a) work on my own stick and b) make a little cash on the side. If it wasn’t for modding, I’d have been out on the street a long time ago. That said, it’s nearly impossible to make a living off of it. I’d have to do 30 stick mods a month to be able to live off of the profits. -_-
Worked in tech support for SBC Yahoo! for 4 months when I needed a job out of uni some years back. Not gonna lie, average person on the account was barely out of highschool and the flowcharts and metrics for troubleshooting stuff was designed to simply get people off the phone as quickly as possible. Sure it was thorough, but there’s only so much you can do by ticking off a checklist. I remember having to help some Russian expat with a minimal grasp of english and I just thought “fuck the metrics” and spent the entire morning just helping the dude out (even got a commendation for that). Still, after four months I decided I couldn’t take it anymore and handed in my resignation.
That’s about how my stint in customer-facing tech support went. I don’t think I lasted 6 months. Some people can hang in there for years, but for others it is more a rite of passage.
I actually helped build a good bit of the SBC Yahoo! backend infrastructure back in the day. None of the stuff that sucked or broke and made doing support miserable of course.
In Canada right now but I’m planning my first mod when I return to the UK in May. Will be turning 2 360 TE’s into multi-console sticks with custom artwork, as well as finishing my dreamcast stick mod (update parts to Sanwa)
one of the sticks is already multi-console modded so i only need the gear for 1 stick to do that. with that in mind I’m looking at buying…
2x Plexiglass covers for Mad Catz Tournament Edition Sticks
2x Laser cut artwork replacement pieces for Mad Catz Tournament Edition Sticks
1x Plexiglass cover for Dreamcast arcade stick
1x Laser cut artwork replacement for Dreamcast arcade stick
2x Sanwa joystick ball tops
18x Sanwa OBSF-30 push buttons (might order from UK store for more colour options)
1x IMP circuit board
1x Multi-Console Cthulhu board
1x GT-Y Octagonal gate
3x Plexiglass dust-washers
1x Neutrik RJ-45 Jack
12x Neurtrik cable boots
Will pick these up when I?m back in the UK:
2x NES - controller OR extension cables
2x SNES - controller OR extension cables
1x GameCube - controller OR extension cable
2x DreamCast - controller OR extension cables
1x PS1/PS2 - controller OR extension cable
1x Xbox1 - controller OR extension cable
2x USB cables - A to A
got the guides sorted, just need to buy a few tools and i’ll be good to go
So I’m always annoyed at the flue mark and mold line around ball tops – has anyone ever tried anything about this?
you could sand it down with high grit sandpaper?
12 boots are okay, since you’ll only need 1 per successful crimp, but try to get like 20 plugs. I’ve messed up enough of them to know that if you’ve never done it before, it’s not until after you’ve crimped it until you know whether or not you did it right.
Man tell me about it.
I did computer networking (CISCO CCNA) when I was 17-18. When we made cables it was so annoying to go through the whole process then after all the work find out that it’s messed up somewhere. I’ll be getting a bag of plugs probably so could be at least 50 in there. Serves me well for the future AND I have a friend who might be modding a stick too so I can do the cables for him too.
Really excited for this.
can someone please tell me how to install a JLF-TM-8T-SK sanwa joystick into my round 2 te stick, and if theres a video available thatd be awesome, i just need help!
Why would you do that, seeing as the TE already has a JLF, and the particular build of JLF you’re mentioning doesn’t not have the TP-MA PCB meaning that you’re have to add some wiring to the harness to connect to the QDs of the microswitches.
I love reading comments on SRK.
Shoryuken - Prices Slashed on Mad Catz Tournament Edition Fightsticks at the Capcom Store
So maybe I should start increasing prices, yeah!?
Damn, SRK front page commentators are about as bad as Youtube video commentators.
haters gonna hate. keep up the good work brah
Actually, I want to pick up an SE, but I can’t justify even paying $50 for it. Shoot. Go lower! Haha
Yep, which leads me to the following:
Seriously, keep up the good work, and don’t let the retards get you down.
Really don’t like clogging the forum with a new thread for something that can be answered with a simple “Yeah, it’s good stuff” and “Yeah used it but it’s utter shit.” so here goes.
White Magix Aerosol 150ml or 400ml Vinyl Dye Plastic Paint This dye, Magix, has anyone had any experience using it before and could give any feedback or possible recommendations of where to get other vinyl dyes in the UK?
Really want to dye my TE-S white. Would it work?
and LOL about the front page. Do people really feel the need to keep whining about it? Seriously, yeah sure you’re gonna get things cheaper at places like, say, Ebay but jeez come on people.
