If you read his post, it would seem that he think that Capcom teamed up with Madcatz with the express purpose of him selling these custom sticks. He also mentions that he knows s.kill out of nowhere, almost as if he thinks it will shut everyone up. Everything he says reeks of “me me me me me me”, I can name at least one mental disorder this is falling into…
Nope, just the same bullshit sense of self-entitlement that has plagued Americans since the 1960s. Too many people think they’re owed something by someone these days, in his case it’s everyone’s attention.
This is why I like you guys so much: your accomplishments are shown with hard work and the respect of the community, not because you’ve told someone you’re awesome and forced them to believe it.
We need more people who are willing to take a picture of themselves, and let someone else caption it. Rather than captioning it themselves.
But this is the internet as a whole. One day, I’m gonna rewrite the definition of Internet as: A fictional world where you can say, be, and do whatever you wish.
This is also motivating me to take my friend’s now defunct FS3 and do something great with it.
Look, I first started getting into modding because of d3v’s front page thread about doing artwork for the TE. Heck, that front page post was the only reason I got a TE in the first place, to do simple artwork to make something personal with a game I really love playing. I started out small, doing some simple artwork here and there, changing parts on it and what not, but I progressed into learning how to solder, pad-hack, and dual-mod. I also learned how to use Photoshop more and more by trying things out by myself.
I help apply what I have learned from SRK’s Tech Talk with my community around me here in my city, the SRK’s Sakura froums, and a little bit on Dustloop. People ask me to do things, and in return, I ask for nothing. I do stuff completely for free, and I don’t mind. I’d rather gain respect from them and the feeling of self-accomplishment over monetary things.
I admire everyone here on the Tech Talk forums for doing such great jobs on any type of mod that they have done, whether it may be B15’s custom sticks, Toodles for the MC Cuthulu, or d3v’s Photoshop mastery. Every single one of you here help create the modding community on SRK to what it is today.
But, when I see something like DSP’s stuff, it makes me infuriated so much. He’s profiting off the most simplest of things. It’s like a slap on the face and a big “Fuck you! I’m making money over stupid people buying shit that came out of my ass” to everyone here who has worked so hard.
Unfortunately (to my knowledge) ebay is not flooded with custom sticks to choose from. As a result, it’s probably hard for someone not in the know browsing ebay to judge what takes lots of effort and what does not. DSP does a good job of selling his work (so people are essentially paying for his enthusiasm, lol) as simplistic as it is. It too makes my stomach turn to see someone turn such a profit on such little work, but then again, I’m not motivated enough to flood ebay with reasonably priced sticks, either. Sadly I think the burden lies with us to educate the masses and I can’t say it’s high on my priority list.

I’m almost tempted to run the same sticks under the same “East Coast Customs” crap with the same templates and buttons swaps and see how DSP likes it when others infringe upon your “hard” work. (and maybe make a couple bucks!)

I did it out of the need to one-up people’s sticks. Heh. Which is hard to say with me going the tupperstick route.
I meant build my stick. The first stick I ever did was my first custom i ever built. I didn’t even know how to solder before I started doing mods and customs
