Best Ultimate Tech Talk Hang Out Loud Edition Season V

really? I’ve seen that shit in like Wal-Mart.

Does anybody know where I can buy the mounting brackets that are welded onto the bottom of arcade (or TE) panels?

Indeedy! You kill rabbits and carrots. Here’s some gameplay:

No thanks. My NES works perfect like DaRabidDuckie mentioned. I brought the game home, cracked it open with a tri-wing screwdriver, scrubbed the connector, inserted game and it booted right away.

<3

I’d pay money for a more “professionally done” version of this LS-32 harness…good for us who don’t have the ls-32-01:

(yes i know i messed up the left and right - they aren’t reversed like up and down)

Tri-wing on a cart? Lucky bastard. Most carts use that damn 2.8mm (or whatever) security hex.

Whoops. You caught me. I have a set of the security bits. Not tri-wing.

This would be a good project for somebody that wants to begin practice making PCBs.

You ain’t gone shootan until you’ve gone shootan teh giant carrots.

If you can get me a good good technical drawing of the measurements between the microswitches, like that one of the TP-MA Per found for me, I’ll look into it. Without something official that has the measurement, it’d be damn hard to get perfect. My Spark housing was off by 0.15mm, and made it so the JLF restrictor plate wouldn’t properly go on, so trust me, accuracy is very very needed in an assembly like that.

You still here or back in the US already?

Sucks, I never left the U.S due to some scheduling complications  … Still, I wish I could of gone back and at least take a break from the stuff I’ve been through right now… Awwww, now I am yearning to go again… But, I have to sort through stuff right now. My house got broken into and a lot of my stuff was stolen, especially my Xbox 360, all my games, TV, and my PC, as well as my parents jewelery and such. I’m lucky enough that they didn’t take my laptop, but it’s been a long day today… Sigh

Aww shucks, was hoping to actually get a chance to school you in SF in person.

That said, if you’re ever interested and/or are in the neighborhood, swing by the community at pinoy2dfighters.com.

Oh~ Confident in your SF skills I see… I might just have to see if I can book the next flight there to school you in both SF and BB:CS. >w>

You know, seeing as jdm’s going on hiatus and the fact that it’s almost time for the Tech Talk Awards. I was thinking, how about we all do something and give jdm a nice parting gift. I propose we have a “JDM714 Award” for having contributed greatly to Tech Talk (kinda like how we have that Cannon Award at EVO) and off course award it to it’s namesake. I’m actually willing to donate a few bucks towards an actual prize or trophy for this.

I support this plan.

Incidentally, Jollibee is some sick eating. One just opened up near me here in LA. Buko Pandan Jolly Cooler 4-life.

wood etching is harder than it looks…

I support jdm714 prize.

Maybe make the trophy as a certain Seimitsu panel.

Finally bought another drill so I could open this damn Hori pad with a stripped screw.
It is indeed common ground. Now I haven’t tested if it’s one of those “partial” common ground boards, but it appears to be common ground.
Also the dpad on the controller uses a daughter board with a ribbon cable soldered to each individual board.
Also couldn’t tell what was wrong with the analog.

I really wish there was a good way to “field test” lag when it comes to HDTVs/monitors. Went to a few tournaments in the past few months and inevitably end up hearing “oh, this monitor is laggy, no, THIS one is” arguments busted out among people who, while being decent players, clearly have no idea what they’re talking about. Good example that happened to me at one event: had a 360 hooked up via VGA to an Asus VH236H monitor (aka the Evo 09 monitor). Kept having this one group of dudes bitching endlessly that the setup was laggy. I told them that the setup was pretty much eliminating lag every possible step of the way but that it is quite likely that it may feel different than what they’ve normally played on, regardless of any actual amount of lag (or lack thereof). Their suggestion? “Use component, that’ll get rid of it”. -_-

And of course, the “field experts” whose only method of testing lag is to hit a single button or try a combo once or twice, and if it doesn’t work, welp, the setup MUST be laggy 'cause there’s “NO way I’d miss that combo otherwise”.

What I wouldn’t give for the old CRT days sometimes for this very reason…

That wouldn’t be an issue if some of these companies still fucking made CRT’s.
I’d like a dedicated CRT for fg’s, but I’d like to buy one new. Well, I’m pretty much assed out without hunting online.
Nothing beats finding an old comp monitor and using the huge bastards for FG’s through VGA. Equally as good as CRT’s through RCA.
