Best Ultimate Tech Talk Hang Out Loud Edition Season V

Was this the first time you two did mods at tournies?

I know how hectic and tiring it can be. Just imagine three days straight of doing it and that was Season’s Beatings 4 & 5 for me.

Yes, first time at Tournament.
It was so much.

I did more than two though.

Naru Narusegawa and Chii.

I’m thinking of going down there tonight to see the finals.

I like how you say your hints, James.

I really like working with “gloss black” freaking HATE mystery drip spots when you are spraying tho…

Yes, first time. Next time, we won’t be doing one of those jdm wiring jobs on the spot. It’s just too time consuming, but I figured since Markman offered his chunli stick, we’d make it real clean. Unfortunately, he didn’t get back to me in time and it went out to great couple that love their chun-li stick just as much. JDM was really stressed!! Poor guy.

I thought I read somewhere that said you guys can knock out a dual mod in 45 minutes? Por serious? Hahah, I think I have a few of these under my belt now and I think 45 minutes is way fast. Maybe we work slow? haha

JDM Needs more baklava.

Its all about the prep work. Having the boards already assembled and pre-wired will make install times so much faster. After you’ve dual modded > 100 sticks things just become second nature and you develop a streamline procedure.

I’m really surprised you guy’s did that jdm wiring job at a tournament. I would love to learn how to do that. I would love to fly out to a major Cali tournament for us to meet up and team up. Would be a great way to learn modding tricks from each other.

I totally didn’t think about that. Pre-wired. We pre-wired a couple 4716 and had fight pads ready to go, but I should really consider pre-wiring the chimps now too!!!

Yeah the JDM wiring job just requires some prep work. jdm714 has the artful eye. I hope he finishes up the couple sticks he has to do, some of the wiring is so awesome. We could look to team up at West Coast Warzone or something. Gummowned/J&J Collab!

WCW would sound great. We should figure something out for that. Could even enter a 3v3 team tournament…Team Tech Talk!

BTW, did you guys do the mods at a hotel or did you get a table at the venue?

We were somewhat local for this event, only an hour drive, so we requested a table. A hotel would have been great! Definitely more traffic from people walking by our table. I think we could arrange something in the future of WCW as long as we stay in good with the organizers this time around =)

lol and i’m far from being able to make it on the team tech talk, I’ll cheerlead. I’m sure you could do 5v5 with as many modders on here!!

Who are you kidding? Who would dare try to beat a team full of modders? No one in their right mind would dare beat us if they ever want their sticks modded or fixed in the future

or we can give them discounts if we win!

The three of us need to get on irc or something so we can discus more about this.

I doubt any of you remember me bitching about the Hori Pad Ex2 Turbo. But I complained that it had wonky and random analog issues that can tend to ruin your aim in FPS.
So, because I was under the impression that mines was defective, I today purchased another. Sadly, this controller has the exact same issue. So this basically means any and everybody with this pad possesses a pad with a major defect.
Which also means I would never recommend this pad for a mod job because the left analog could randomly go off and you get a random jump, or something else unnecessary (still wouldn’t know if it’s common ground).

My thoughts on the Hori Pad EX2 Turbo as of now. A total piece of shit.

Open it up in the name of science!

The only thing standing between me and science right now is a stripped screw.
Ugh, this is impossible.

EDIT: This son of a bitch just broke all of my precision flatheads.

JDM how do you get the wires to stick together like ribbon cable? You using super glue or something?

Time to bust out that drill.

You know I’ve been really thinking about something along these lines. Either a team full of modders, or if for some reason we’re all at the same tournament (say evo?) then we should do a modders tourney, since the majority of us spend our time doing this stuff instead of getting to practice up.

Speaking of which, Gummy…are you planning at all to head to the MW tourney coming up in spring? I probably won’t be doing mods (per se) but I may do something else along the lines for my boards. Might even do a “beat the modder” thing to offer one at a discount if they beat me in a FT5. I’m surprisingly no push over, so it’d be kind of fun

Popped my ex2 pad open, it is common! Also, this thing is kind of a pain in the butt to open; the dpad daughter board is screwed in to the front half of the shell.

Dremel that sucka!

with super glue and laughs

I concur

Which tourny is that? Mind helping me out with contacting the tourny organizer and see if we can get a table set up for me to do mods and for you to sell your teasy boards?

Modders tourny sounds fun. I wouldn’t mind doing a beat the modder thing in a game of puzzle fighter.

I want to mod one of those now.
