Option selecting pretty much eliminates the need for “guessing” when a throw comes. You can throw at a poke and be protecting from a throw at the same time.
The only way I can answer this, is that I play both games and like both of them, I like GG and Tekken too! Plus I compete and place well in all of them…OFFLINE… as opposed to you who…does…
verbal diarrhea?
Wait, you reminded me this is SRK again, here is the response you are used to:
Shut your face 2008 registration nub, look at my join date. I’m OG kid.
nigga what?
cha cha
Soul edge
Really? All I got from that post was:
“Hilde is broken lol!” (is she really? she seems more boring than broken)
“My characters aren’t the same as years ago!” (no shit? :looney:)
“Just Frame is too hard!” (wah wah :crybaby: - they’re easier than 1f links)
“Guard Break allows a free attack afterwards!” (isn’t that the point?)
He sounds like an ST guy complaining about 3s, or a 3s guy complaining about SF4. Some people don’t like change.
pretty much
lol at calling it “win”
I place top at evo in SC and SF, as well as having beaten WCMaxi’s ass easily, so whatever opinion I have about SC is the most valid.
I’d go 2, 1, 4 , and 3 myself.
I loved Soul Calibur 1, great game but I think I had more fun with Soul calibur 2 and that game had the best rhythm to me. It also introduced my most used character, Yunseong. Just a shame he’s pretty good in 2, got slightly nerfed and buffed in 3 (in a good way), and then he’s all over the place in SC4.
I actually wasn’t referring to those parts of the post, but whatever.
Also lol at what you supposedly “got” from it.
Because as far as I know, you haven’t played in any real tournies, and instead wasted your time with online SC4 and complaining about that. Thus, unless you’re basing your critique off of online then you don’t have anything to base it on. Also lol@accusing me or Cha of whining when we’ve done nothing of the sort. I merely came in here to correct the stuff you said that was outright false.
I’m done with this shit thread, so have fun crying about whatever FG you’ve gotten into mate!
No thanks. Playing offline casuals and watching match videos are sufficient enough. I dont have to play a game I dont even really like at a tournament to know what Im talking about.
But I believe this is the 2nd or 3rd time that the both of you have circumvented my entire post by saying Im basing all my words on online play, which im not. lol @ you taking this shit personal.
I have only played part 1 on the DC & 4 on the PS3. I prefer the DC version. I feel so much more in control of my characters. The PS3 version does look nice though, but it all comes down to the playabilty for me, and the VGA adapter makes it look great on the DC too.
Would you mind eliminating the forum runaround and saying what it was about that post then? The online, or pace, or clone characters, or the quality of SC1, or what?
Dude, there is no ‘forum runaround’. There is nothing to “eliminate”, either.
People that have preferences for [insert game here] have been pretty detailed in explaining why they think that in the thread I linked that post in, not to mention this one; its as if you made your reply without reading anything anyone has written.
SC1 is the most balanced and solid, had the best presentation. SC2 was the most popular and most people didn’t play SC1 so they automatically label it better because bigger number = MUST be better. SC3 had serious problems and by the time Namco fixed them in an arcade release it was too late. SCIV is better and more “clean” but still has problems and especially after playing SC1 fails to impress.
The lastest revision of a 3D game gets played by the community, no matter how bad or worse it is compared to the previous titles, bottom line.
I get where you’re coming from, understand the SC1 support put forth since the beginning of the thread and see there’s not so much to read into there, but from the last couple of pages you have to admit this kind of topic makes it easy for people to go on about “oh this fool is thinking on a lower plane than me, there’s something about (insert) that’s (not) trash and that’s that” without getting to specifics and leaving a pointless stink hanging, so some guy like me who’s beyond casual at the game in question comes away with some shit impression somehow. Referencing that post with mixed feelings about the series and leaving it like that left you open to more interpretation than you were going for, then.
SC1 is indeed attractive, regardless.
How about this.
SC2-4 was basically played for Versus Mode. SC2 introduced…Guard Crushes. SC# Character Creation (Big Hit). SC4 Online (Hated…but still played).
SC1 on the contrary was the FIRST POLISHED FIGHTER OF ITS TIME. Also. It had THE BEST 1 PLAYER MODE in Mission Battle. Not just battling through opponents but also had stipulations like Life Drain/Poison, Sinking Sand, SC to attack, etc. And amazingly had a great story (if you cared). Also had plenty of cool artwork for fun. Plus had the BEST MUSIC IN THE ENTIRE SERIES!! Even some classic sound effects that you don’t hear anymore.
SC1 is only 10 Years old but gives a sense of nostalgia unrivalled. I guess because I spent so many hours with it. Survival Mode…(72 my record I think) or Playing through Mission Battle, then beating the unlocked harder versions. Simply amazing. Not to mention there were a PLETHORA of HIDDEN MOVES/PROPERTIES!! No other game I know of did this…which added to the element of discovery.
The sequels basically improved on the formula that was already there. So really the subsequent games are better, but did not give off the vibe SC1 did. Just like if people say they enjoy SF2 over SF4.
Everyone should really play Soul Cal with their friends. You’ll be amazed at how fun it can be.
I got to play SC1 in the arcade, along with SC2. The games were awesome for their time, and it was also during a time when 2d gaming was in its dark ages, so the nostalgia is off the roof.
SC3-4 just weren’t as good, though SC4 is decent. To me, the biggest issue with SC4 were balance and not enough buffer window.
Hoping SC5 Namco concentrates on the gameplay aspects- given how well SC4 sold, I hope they realize they don’t need Star Wars to sell the game.
sc2 was the shit. sc3 was my favorite. loved that rpg mode. and i could actually punish moves. in sc4 if you whiff, don’t block mash harder!
I played every console release of this game, Soul Edge included.
Indeed SC1 has the nostalgia effect especially seeing the transition from the cranky and stiff Soul Edge. I loved Soul Edge and all, but when Soul Calibur came out I was just awestruck. There was no Youtube at that time so me and my cousins all saw the magic of the game with our eyes.
I agree they just improved the fighting system on every succeeding iteration, but people found exploits and glitches that have turned off some people, until SC4 came. I just wish they can bring back the smoothness and fast pace of older SC games for the next Soul Calibur game. If they could remove the glitches like in SC4 but still play fast like SC and SC2, it would be a game that could draw back people.
Toss up between 1 and 2. I lean more towards 2 simply because I met a lot of awesome people through that game. The competition back then was great.
