Trust me when I say…Soul Calibur is a great fighting game series. People continue to bash it because they’re used to Tekken/SF…and simply do not want to abandoned their old ways.
And those who praise SC2 for balance and lack of glitches also do not know what they’re talking about. I just wish people would see the light.

lol right… If you’re going to praise any SC for a lack of glitches, praise SC4 since it has the fewest of them (And the stuff that’s present alters the game much less as well). The only thing I really dislike about the game was already covered by Josh (Lows + GCs being - on hit and block, respectively). People rag on VC in SC3, but imho it helped otherwise weaker characters more than it helped fucking Xianghua and Sophitia…
If you mean by over the top bust sizes, then yeah. From SC2 and then on, Taki and Ivy were fan serviced to the point where they dont even look good at all. Just females with very large busts.
Atleast in SC1, all of the females were more ‘naturaly appealing’, and Xianghua wasn’t the anorexic looking girl she is more known for now.

Setsuka has one of the fastest 2a’s in the game.
Her just-frame umbrella also comes out lightning fast, mid, almost unpunishable, tracks, goes under highs, rings out, does good damage, decent soul gauge damage, pushes out and sets up oki on hit. What a perfect follow-up to 2A on hit. lol.
Soul Calibur 4 is just so laughable when you really think about it. Its like playing an RPG, instead of equipping the S-rank armor you are doing GDLK moves. Strategy consists of brain dead ABC123 setups with moves that are overpowered with too many attributes. Thats why the SF and Tekken community dont take it serious, thats why it is UNIVERSALLY agreed that SC1 and 2 both eat SC4 for breakfast.
The thing that infuriates me about SC is that SC has all the engine tools to be a great, awesome fighter- yet always ends up falling short due to either bugs or balance.
Hopefully Namco gets it right one day- I don’t think the series is dead, since the only fighter that is going to outsell it this gen is SFIV. (and SFIV only outsold SCIV by abotu 15%)

I dont think the series is "dead’ because as long as Namco continue’s to market to the casual crowd they can put out a log of shit with console exclusive characters and pre-order customizable wigs and curly mustaches to keep it afloat.
I meant dead in the aspect of it just not being taken serious anymore, and thats whats its looking like. Never have I played a game where I felt like it was so easy to just pick up and play, and I used to actually think I was hot shit in Soul Calibur.

SC4 doesn’t deserve to be at Evo. Evo is better off w/o it at all. Standing around doing nothing is better than giving SC4 the time of day. It never has, never will be worth anyone’s time. You can get away with abusing that shit online thanks to the terrible netcode, but otherwise it’s more than easy enough to interrupt anything she does after that, even the JF Umbrella). Braindead Strats with overpowered attributes??!?! Seriously either you don’t know how to play the game, or you have been playing the wrong people. I think its both.
In Soul Calibur, more than ANY OTHER SERIES, for any strat there is a way out.
In Tekken. You run away, try to launch, if punished you stay on the ground and eat 40-60%, depends if there is a wall.
SF You Run away and throw projectiles. If you have no projectiles you poke and run away. Cross Ups only one realy way out. Throw escapes, is almost just like VF, you have to KNOW ITS COMING before it comes.
The highest the random factor goes in SC is that Throws are 50/50. No way to tell. If you think anything after that is random you’re playing the wrong game.
And…to call SC4 SHIT??? I don’t know where you’re coming from. All the SC s are quality fighters, glitches or no glitches. I usually find the people that complain simply do not know how to get out of something.
ie. Hilde ROs. OR Algol Bubbles. Cheap on the surface. But Algol will require 24 Bubbles to KO. Hilde requires SPECIFIC CHARGE TIME to land her RO combo. Also you SEE THE FLASH when a Charge move is coming, Easily GI’d or stepped, Depending on which they are using. AND you can tell which they are using by which attacks (As/Bs) he is not using. However, most players lack this mind game and anticipation in Tekken or SF. Hence why people complain.

lol Cha, I only got involved because our good friend from 8wayrun got involved and is posting misinformation. You’re ultimately right though. I come to 8wayrun for info on SC, srk for info on SF, vdfc for Virtua Fighter. If there’s a hater on one of those sites blasting another game I just ignore them, unless they’re posting something that’s blatantly untrue (i.e. Setsuka’s 2A being faster than normal and her umbrella being nigh unpunishable with great tracking).
