Best soul calibur game?

True, but this is Namco. Mortal Kombat players post UMK3 are idiots. They like blood and 12 skulls to appear on screen after a fatality.

There is a large, living, breathing, thinking fanbase that WANTS to see the series succeed. And the company just doesnt give a fuck right now. I thought this being the age of fighting games coming back, the companies would really…LISTEN but I see I was dead wrong.

Namco, doesnt care. They release a new version of Soul Calibur 4 with the purple Hannah Montana PSP exclusively to the PSP instead of a real console upgrade to fix all the shit thats pre-existing.

I’m just waiting to see who the next cameo character for the new SC will be?
Gotta get that money son!

You know what, next major we both attend, we’re getting a beer and shooting the shit about games for a while. It would be fun

I like IGN’s review on Soul Calibur 3. Its the only time I see a major review
company have at least a small general idea of what theyre talking about in fighting games.

Hopefully they fix this mess in a serious console upgrade/sequel one day.
To think I bought the collectors edition of SC4…

I don’t know the answer to this question, but I like 3 the most because I used to play it every other day with many people for like 2 years.

Wasn’t very nice to my memory card though.

Best one IMHO is Soul Calibur.

I haven’t played the dreamcast version but the arcade version was epic. Great roster, great boss, and the gameplay was fun and exciting. Every hit made you want to keep playing for hours. Definitely my favorite one.

I currently own SC2. Although it’s way better then III or IV, it’s just not as good as SC1. Link was a nice option, and the graphics were amazing for it’s time. I just wish I had a better controller or a stick to play the game with.

SC2 Talim SHITTED on niggas.

Im still lol-ing at Talim being one of the slowest characters in the game and shes like 4’2 with a pair of bladed tonfas and a high pitched voice.

Astaroth is faster than Talim.

i Literally Do Not Drink but otherwise fuck yeah

and we can get into more sports arguments about choke artists n shit like we did in that one thread. anything to take my mind off mangenius benching quinn to jew him out of $7mil + lebron leaving…

These are not new features for IV.
I hate Necrid so much… Worst. Design. Ever.

Calibur 1 was overall the most balanced and most refined of the series, but Calibur 2 was definitely the peak of the series.

I’ve never played SC1, but I have played SC2 and between it and the rest I like SC2 the most. SC1 may be a good solid game as is SC2, but after that the series became a bit more shallow in terms of game play. The only drastic developments are cameo appearances and funny hats. I follow you on the one-trick pony bit.

This post made my pants wet, i played SC1 for a short time and i LOVE seung mina.
in SC2 it was Raphael i never played 3/4 as much as i did those two though

SC1. BY FAR. I really love this series as a whole but they really got everything right with this one. Spent years of my life with this one. Two was fun but not the same depth. The others are just watered down versions with a new coat of paint.

What is A-FREAKING-MAZING is how many options, modes, and other really cool extra things they added like getting a different title screen when you unlocked everything. The graphics were BETTER than the arcade by a long shot!

Then 10 years later, we get Tekken 6. Worse graphics than the arcade. Worse graphics than SC4. Worse graphics than VF5 which was practically a PS3 launch title. Fewer modes. The online thing has been going for a while now. Blazblue got it right. SF4 and VF5 pretty much got it right. Why is T6 such a lag fest?

I LOVE the T6 gameplay, and that is worth it alone, but why isn’t everything BETTER than the arcade version? Or at least, as good as the arcade version?

I’ve seen this thread before… wait let me sum it up:
SC1: Everyone who played it at the time adored it, but only people who don’t care enough about the SC series to keep the game alive worship it. SC fans moved on.
SC2: Everyone who played 1 more will like that more, unless they barely touched it and 2 was their favourite game. It had Link and shit… especially relevant as it was the only fighting game on the gamecube other than Melee.
SC3: It was the Vista of the series. So terrible… by the end they had AE which fixed a lot of stuff but by then the verdict had been cast.
SC4: At least it’s better than 3.

Honestly, if you want real opinion from people that actively follow the series, go to 8wayrun.

I have to wonder what how SC4 would’ve been received if it didn’t have the Starwars characters. I don’t know why but it seems to piss a lot of people off.

1 or 2 imo, I played 2 a hella lot more though so I’m more biased towards it.

I believe the initial reaction to 4 was that its better than 4. But the shiny gloss has faded. SC4 fucking sucks.

SC3 was bad because of variable cancel. Not because it was flat out bad, like SC4.

SC1 (System 12 or DC) was Ashford and Simpson. I’m no Tekken expert, but I want to say SC’s the only Namco fighter where all the characters were viable in all skill levels. II was good and gets credit for being more popular, but it wasn’t rock-solid like the first. It damn near breaks my heart how much this series lost its way.

The SC4 Evo finals were pretty damn sweet and exciting to watch, can’t be that bad.

95% of the crowd was making fun of it.

SC2 was my favorite. SC4 they changed it to much I hated it.

you fuck!
