Best Fighting Game of the Generation?

Actually the best fighter of this generation hasn’t come out yet

Nidhogg will save us all

Yeah, but you must be interested in the game first. I mean, nuns, schoolgirls, gothick chick, weapon weilders… All that is OK, but why they couldn’t make those archetypes of different ages, genders and races? It would be way more interesting and appealing for different kinds of players.

Whatever, the “all-little girls roster” seems to be Arcana Heart’s signature stamp… But I couldn’t care less for that game, in big part because exactly for that. It’s a big obstacle.

Who knows, maybe it’s not only the but the generic saturday morning anime aesthetycs. That’s the same reason I’m not interested at all in games like Melty Blood, Aquapizza, Chaos Code, etc…

He means Hit stop :coffee:

Now Bridget is intentional as hell but something’s wrong when you’re getting sexual appeal out of May.

No unrealistic fetish is huge in Japan.
In fact, all anime but the most long running and mainstream is a niche outside certain areas, and even then they’re more profitable than a national sensation, now manga…
Tentacle porn hasn’t been relevant since the early 2000s. The in-thing is small boobs and modestly large ones, loli and cow tits sell like shit without a good response for everything else.

Basically everything both weeaboos and “normal” people will tell you about anime is fucking shit.

You know, people say that and then games like Akatsuki Blitzkampf, the Darkstalkers series, and Battle Fantasia come out but its all comes down to a resounding “eh”?
Even post-SFIV where online is easily accessed almost everywhere, and you just need to look up 10 or so videos, Skullgirls needed two hype defibrillations to last a few more months.
I’m sure as hell not gonna find any random stranger going to play Cyberbots or SamSho with me too.

I kinda get Chaos Code, but Melty Blood and Aquapizza? Just what in the world are you comparing them to that wouldn’t make SF and KOF be more appropriate for Saturday Mornings tenfold?

Lolicon is definitely a prominent fetish in Japan, not saying everyone is into that, no not even the majority. However there are a lot of people, lonely virgin otakus mainly, who are into it.

I’m not talking about legally underage which Athena and Sakura are. I’m talking about being prepubescent. Sakura and Athena, as evidenced by their breasts, have already gone through puberty. In Arcana Heart 3 you have little girls in nightgowns, french maid outfits, various halter tops, mini skirts, etc.

Let’s figure about 99% of the audience for fighting games are male. Therefore female characters in many of these games are designed to have sex appeal. This is all fine and good. However games that have ONLY female characters are going to draw a lot of criticism. Then when many of the characters are children, young girls, the criticism exponentially increases.

SRK should have a ban on Arcana Heart discussions so we never have to go through this.

Dunno what’s supposed to be easy about SF4.
I just got Skullgirls and feel like the God of combos while I’m still struggling with my bnb combos in SF4 after over 3 month.

No shit it’s a thing in Japan, but do you know much of a fucking tool ass fucking moron you sound when you say you learned about the nature of an entire nation cuz you watched enough of their cartoons?

Seriously you said “I’ve watched enough cartoons to make a sweeping judgment about a place I’ve never been to.”

Fucking stupid as shit.

Well Skullgirls you feel like a god cause how u can confirm off of pretty much anything, however the ceiling is much higher. 50, 60, 70, 80 hit combos.

Well, THAT might actually be. Highest I got done so far were 13 hits or something xD
(but I only played the tutorial and played Story Mode once, mind you)

But the problem I got with SF is the timed hits, it seems in Skullgirls you can chain/cancel everything, which just makes it a thing of remembering the inputs and relying on certain visual queues, while in SF4 you’re completely fucked if you don’t get your timing down.

SRK should have a ban on people who play Arcana Heart

There, I fixed it for you!

Generic anime design/art style, and cardboard personalities.
Street Fighter, Guilty Gear, KOF, XDZW, even Yatagarasu, Waku Waku 7 or all of them have more tri-dimensional characters, with more distinct personalities and unique, fleshed-out designs and moves mostly based around actual martial arts.

Aquapizza and Melty Blood are literally Saturday Morning animes, IIRC.

As for Big Bang Beat, Arcana Heart, Akatsuki Blitzkampf and other dojin games, they follow closely. It’s mostly the art style and the “in-anime logic” in which people can jump 40 meters in air (three times in a row), perform 700 cuts by making a simple hand move and send the opponent to the moon with one punch, without having a gram of muscle or even look or behave like a martial artist. The power of being a pissed-off Junior High schoolgirl, YAY!!

SF4 is executionally retarded. Combos that would be day one basic in SF2 take tons of time to perfect in the training room. I’d say it’s probably the most execution-heavy SF game out there and Capcom was trying to make it “beginner friendly.” I’m thankful more games this generation didn’t follow Capcom’s lead in terms of making stuff arbitrarily difficult just because, hey, why the fuck not?

That’s the reason why I stopped playing SF4. Too execution-heavy and I didn’t like how they put such a heavy emphasis on links. I’m not crying at how hard the game is or anything (because it’s not), but there’s just some barriers that I either didn’t like or didn’t have the time to try and overcome. I have no problem with links, but was there really a need for there to be so many links to memorize? To me, it kinda takes away from the gameplay and puts a heavy burden on newer players who actually want to take it seriously. They spend so much time learning links that when they do get it down pat, they can’t put it to much use because there fundamentals are majorly lacking.

Give one good example of this, please.

I don’t like aquapizzas, they are far too watery.

So AH has derailed this thread hardcore, let’s just accept that AH isn’t the game of the generation and move on.

As far as 2D goes KOF, SFIV, MvC3 are the biggest contenders, but for a single unified game of the generation it’s probably TTT2 because most of the 3D players don’t fight over petty small things like saying AH3D should be the best 3D game even though only 2 people played it.

So TTT2 would make the most people happy because if you name KoF, SFIV or MvC3 the game of the generation almost every 2D fighter player will be upset.

Couldn’t we just divide it up into a 2D fighter and a 3D fighter of the generation and have them be separate so that everyone wins, or at least the most people are happy?

What the fuck? People still complaining about links? It took me >1month to relearn ALL my Dudley combos when I switched from pad to stick, and that was playing what, one hour every couple nights playing with friends? You have no right to complain with your fucking my-first-combo Ryus.

Street fighter 4 IMO

re learning the timing of links is not really the challenge of switching from pad to stick. if anything, you’ve got a leg up by switching to stick since p-linking will be easier.
