Just got bodied about 50 times in Endless, I recorded a few of the matches playing Ryu mainly and Cammy once or twice for the lulz.
It’s embarrassing listening to how badly I was mashing lol, I think I need to work on staying calm because I ended up mashing half the time just trying to land something, and I totally forgot about the things I practiced (DP FADC Ultra, Cr. Forward to Fireball, Cr. Fierce to Tatsu, etc…)
I’ll edit this post with the video once it’s uploaded. Oh god is it cringe worthy. I have 68 PP and 50 BP … the other guy had about 2000 PP/BP, but bodied a guy with 9000 BP… lol that Sagat was good. Or I’m just really bad.
Don’t sweat it dude, you are really bad, but for obvious reasons. That’s good because people can see and help… First of all, that match up is gonna be extra hard if you don’t know that you can crouch under the high fire balls. Second, another piece of information you should know is that if you get into a fireball fight, you will lose. So don’t rely on just shooting hadokens from a far range, you’ll get hit eventually… In this match up, sagat is the ryu and you are the aggressor. What I mean is, sagat is trying to keep you out and do fireball damage while you try to get in and do throws, mixups and big combos. This means that as the levels of play get higher, damage is harder to get as your opponents will have a better defense. Its on you to be patient and fake the opponent into doing something dumb. From what I saw, you tried to get in so hard that you pretty much refused to block. Slow down dude, chip doesn’t do more than like 15 damage I think, so for him to chip all 1000 points of life, his arm might fall off. Just eat some chip, gather your thoughts and proceed with a plan. I don’t think you should fight sagat’s right now, maybe stick to some ryu dittos till you learn the basics…
No, not the same level. He needs fundamental help, you only need one fundamental thing. After that, you are actually a pretty good player.
You, have a big gaping fucking hole in your footsies, your AA. All those great footsies going to waste because you letting him jump in on you… Don’t…
Also, you damage is pitiful your jab jab jab combos ain’t cutting it, probably because you don’t jump in. You are trying to play too good. Street fighter isn’t the never jump in game, you just have to pick and choose when to do so… Punishes are fine, but if your opponent knows that in neutral you won’t jump in unless he fireballs you, he will have superior footsies and you will wonder why you can’t win that match up. You can bait normals that have long recovery time like sweeps, than jump in. You can fake aggression like walking up to a certain point and doing crouching medium kick twice and when you get to that point on the third you jump in. You can also just jump in to test your opponent’s AA game. Once you learn how good they are at AA you can adjust your jump ins appropriately…
It’s hard for me to react to jump in, but that gets solved over time.
I absolutely hate the combo system for this game. I have o desire to sit in the training room to practice links. Majority of my matches are plying footsies. Don’t get me wrong, they are needed and necessary to be good, but I guess I’m kinda past the stage of “I wanna be like Daigo.”
Vs Guile: where are your fireballs? You got bullied into the corner too easily. Stop jumping especially when it’s obvious he has charge. Waving stuff in front of his face midrange (unsafe stores, FA’s, random pokes, etc) is a really bad idea especially when he already has a sonic boom in front of him to cover his approach. You barely used anti air moves too (c. mp, s. mk, c. hp) the few times Guile did decide to jump to get close. Learn to space better and know when it’s ok and not ok to try and poke Guile.
Learn her safe jump setups too, so you don’t get bullied by reversals so easily. You almost had that one game where you had U1 activated, but you got careless and got hit by Guile’s reversal Super. Deep j. hk off a knockdown is a good start. She has more safejump after that, and some specific ones when she has turned on U1.
The instance where you activated U1 while he was jumping it, you could have anti aired him with c. hp I think. Instead he got in and forced you into a defensive position (rendering U1 useless).
Juri’s walk speed is horrible too, so you can’t really go in and forego her fireballing game. It’s part of what makes her effective and frustrating for other characters to fight imo.
I’ll look at the shoto ones later. I think the guys are the Juri subforum are kind enough too, and more well-versed with the character; don’t be afraid to ask there as well.
After watching the Juri vs shoto vids, and some stuff from my experience as a Juri secondary:
Just throwing out EX fireball/fuhajin when it doesn’t hit = bad idea
At least get them to block it for block damage
Ending blockstrings in Senpusha/pinwheel = bad idea
Random pinwheels = really bad idea
Focus attack during the right situations = good idea
Focus attack because you have nothing else to do especially at mid to far = bad idea. As shown in the replays, they’re an invitation to eat a hurricane kick. Those are either breakers (Ryu) or multi-hit and serve as breakers (Ken).
Juri has a few ways around shoto zoning, and her primary weapon for that is her divekick.
To add to my earlier post, I suppose you could learn defense and patience first before all the other stuff. Was the lag bad? I felt you kept walking into fireballs and eating heavy poke damage. These could be avoided if you learned to be patient and block better. The other stuff can follow from that.
This place still alive? I’d really like some input on my play as long as it doesn’t burn your eyes out with all the DPs I miss and footsies I don’t play.
I’m fairly new to street fighter maybe 4 months or so. A little later I’ll upload some reviews of my d class play on dee jay. Just started with my hori fightstick yesterday and octogonal gate hasn’t even arrived so just breaking in the bad boy. I’d love for some players to add me and maybe have some fair gp in endless. I’m definitely expecting feedback so just check out the vid when its up and tell me harsh or not idc lol just trying to learn this stuff
Based on that vid, you primarily need to work on execution and getting your moves out when you want them. Learn the charge times that you need - the more you play, the more natural it will come to know if you have charge or not. Just work on practicing the moves right now - so when you want the fireball to come out, you get a fireball and not a jab. That’s to start.
After that, after you land a focus attack, you can follow up with another attack as they are in crumple state and it will combo, you don’t have to wait til they get up again.
Thirdly, after you sweep them with c.mk, you can go into many of Deejay’s mixups. Waiting for them to get up is not one of them. For this, you might wanna go into the Dee Jay forum to get more info on that…but you can crossup with j.mk, or do j.lk (which whiffs) and land in front and do c.lk.
I’ve definitely been working hard at deejay, I can almost always push up a move when I want now to ask does holding my stick back after a move retain charge? or is there a way cause I watch kurokiba and he can nail the double mk air kicks and rolling sobat off of mgu, I’ve never understood crossups I seem to always land dead infront of people and end up punished horribly
Hey guys I was wondering if there was any way to download saved replays in the pc version of SS4. I would like to post some matches in here for tips on how to improve, but i’m not exactly sure how to get videos to post.
