I’ve watched a few matches and it seemed like you didn’t know what you should have been doing when and where, I saw a lot of jump ins like you mentioned, I also see a lot more negative on block stuff than crossups. It seems you’re mainly poking with the condor dive, if you want to jump in on people use a jumping normal, it’ll be infinitely less punishable. Also the match against the Ryu it seemed like you could prolly work on your blocking/focussing fireballs, you got hit by way more of them than you should have. I also saw raw supers/ultras. If you are 100% convinced they’ll hit it would be smart to think about throwing those out, if you have doubts don’t bother with super, the cost of a super is tremendous.
Lastly you seem very impatient, if your opponent waits for around 3 seconds you’ll start attacking them (with a move that’s negative on block even) Try letting your opponent come at you as well some times. Against fireball characters that don’t want to get in wait and see their fireball pattern and when you know they will do one, do one of your jump ins into combo. (this is where jump ins are desired, outside of this situation they’re usually not that good)
Be more patient try and wait for the right openings to get in. Also learn how to block, you’re mashing like a mad man every time you either get hit or are put in blockstun. All that mashing leads to you getting counter hit by a ton of stuff that wouldn’t even hit if you were just blocking instead. The sad thing is, half the time you aren’t even mashing the right thing, for example I saw you were mashing cr.mk or crouch tech when you weren’t even in a position to get thrown.
Another thing I noticed is that you don’t actually know his safe jumps after lp spd, since people can just jump out or it’s super obvious what you’re going to do. A really easy one is to do lp spd, then whiff st.lp, and jump in splash or do a tiny step forward after the st.lp to let it cross up.
Lastly, you barely anti air or use any of your normals. Thawk has some pretty good normals, try and find out which normals in different scenarios. Edit: Ah in the later matches I saw you throwing out more normals, but sometimes it doesn’t make sense what you’re trying to do. For example there’s a point in a video where you’re wiggling back in forth your joystick as if you’re trying to play footsies, but you’re literally standing full screen away, which isn’t really a logical thing to do. Try and actually understand how to play footsies and not just copy what you see pro players do in tournament videos.
Kojikog (Japan) and Hungbee (US) are some T. Hawk’s that you can look up on YouTube.
Thanks for the criticism. I am adjusting my play style to use more DF LP to anti air and use hawks safer pokes. I recently got the advice to keep walking forward when my opponent is walking back. About the moving back and forth, its a bad habit that developed from my first month (only been playing for 2 months) of play before I even knew there were good hawks out there. I’ll try to upload more videos after gameplay adjustments.

Looking for a quick answer on an active thread. I’ve read for a while now and found no answer… maybe someone can point me in the right direction…

In frame data when a player recovers in 6 frames, do they recover on the 6th frame or after the 6th frame?
-
On a wake-up is there any vulnerable frames that you can’t go into block?
P.S. sorry for being that guy who can’t find information!
Thank you,
Chris
“1. In frame data when a player recovers in 6 frames, do they recover on the 6th frame or after the 6th frame?”

I’ll be on tonight if you wanna practice some
Some context:
Started SSF4 in the summer for a few weeks, but went to college and came back from a hiatus. More of an MMORPG kind of guy, but street fighter appeals to me for some reason. I really like Jyobin’s style of play, but I know that it shouldn’t be encouraged as it’s a reckless play style- that being said, I want to have my fundamentals down pat before I can start trolling with people. FADC is really hard for me [that’s a matter of practice]
Flaws that I’ve noticed:
I’m DP happy- I find that it gets my out of bad situations [2:02 for example], but it can also makes me open for punishes as I use it too often for the wrong reasons.
I can’t capitalize on anti-air punishes/ punishes due to poor execution.
My footsie game seems to be nonexistent.
Set ups and safe jumps are also nonexistent.
Side note: that taunt in game one was totally unintentional but I guess it ticked him off. D:

I’ll talk about your first two matches. Next time include you inputs so we can see exactly what you are doing.
Match 1:
For footsies you should be mainly using crouching mk and standing hk.
After you knocked him down at 0:15 you did nothing and then jumped away, this was a bad choice because sakura is a close range character.
At 0:19 you swept at close range and he was able to get a free punish
Most of you damage in round 1 came from mashing srk, this eventually led to your loss because he started baiting it. On that same note you stop doing shoryuken on wake up, that’s punishable but that Ryu didn’t know that.
1:05-1:11 You took a bunch of damage for no reason, from jumping on fireballs to not blocking and mashing.
1:12 You focus attacked on someone’s wake up, which is basically never a good option.
You lost the third round because your opponent caught on that all you were doing was mashing on shoryuken and you had zero footsies.
Match 2:
2:35 You jumped in and mashed shoryuken, not a good option
2:46 You landed a cross up but didn’t follow it up with a hit confirm. If he blocked that cross up then he would have punished you hard.
2:51 You took a major risk for no reason by doing that shoryuken when you have a big life lead
3:09 you didn’t punish that level 3 wiffed focus attack
Round two was basically more of the same.
You need to learn her footsies and pokes and start using them. You also need to stop mashing all the time and block or crouch tech. And you need to learn her basic combos.
Hay Guys im german Player and wants your help. Why i lose this game’s and waht i can do better? And waht i should be learn ??? XBL: Don CoJon3s III ( iii ) if any wants to play with me. For more analysis!

greez Don
Dont forget my XBL Acc :))
First of all, I didn’t know if you were Dudley or Ken. I’m assuming that you’re Ken because you said that you lost. If you don’t understand anything I say because of the jargon, ask me to explain please.
[]0:09 You get counterhit by Dudley’s s.hp. Dudley’s s.hp is an amazing footsie tool that you need to respect.
[]0:13 Don’t throw fireballs at that range, Dudley can just punish on reaction with ducking straight.
[]0:15 There is no reason for you to get hit by that f.hp from Dudley.
[]0:27 It might have been worth it to just raw ultra after the focus attack.
[]0:32 You put yourself in the corner… That’s really dumb.
[]0:43 You could have uppercutted him after whiffing your kara throw.
[]0:55 Far lp whiffs on crouching characters, which is why people do cr.lk cr.lp cr.lp -> hp Shoryuken as their BnB.
[]1:35 This guy loves to jump. Anti-air him with MP SRK.
[]1:38 By now you must have noticed that Dudley’s pressure never ends if you don’t press buttons. Backdash is a good option. His f.mk is 8 frames, so there is a big gap between his cr.lp and f.mk that you can try to hit him, but that is a risk that could lead to you eating a combo.
[]1:40 You eat a meaty j.hk to the face for no reason besides you weren’t blocking.
[]1:41 Another s.hp eaten when you crouch tech. Don’t crouch tech if he’s out of throw range.
[]1:43 Dudley is plus frames after s.hk xx EX Ducking.
[]2:12 When you jump into a focus like that, you can usually HP Shoryuken immediately on landing to hit him out of it.
[]2:26 Dudley’s focus hits that far out, yeah. Jump back, cr.mk xx HP Shoryuken, cr.mk xx EX tatsu, neutral jump, kara throw, raw EX tatsu, and EX fireball are all good answers to Dudley’s focus.
[]2:36 You dropped SRK FADC Ultra, which was a big deal.
[]2:40 Dudley uses s.hp exactly the same way that Bison uses s.hk. “I don’t know if he’s going to hit a button here, but if he does he gets smacked in the jaw.” Stop getting smacked in the jaw. I think that your cr.mk actually goes underneath it a lot of the time.
Thanks a lot for the first Analys . Yes im Ken player ! Don CoJon3s III.
hi there
I thought I’d post a few videos here to see what I can practice and/or try to get better at (I’m ryu in both videos)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISlGHED9mGw
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4scoCA9g8o
so this is what I think myself (I don’t know if I’m analyzing myself properly since I’m only playing for a few weeks now):
in both videos I’m not expecting throws often enough so I’m not teching them in time
also in both i don’t punish their specials e.g. onis dp when i have ultra
in the second round against rose at the end i throw a hadoken at pointblank range when she can jump over it and attack (this doesn’t happen other times in these videos but in other matches it happens as well)
finally i think i should punish jumpins more often with dp or cHP
any other input?
First match against the Dudley:
You had very little footsie game. All you did was block and then get cornered. Eventually you got an opening and then started your pressure and mix ups. Blocking is not bad per se, but your defense was getting repeatedly broken with frame traps and throws, which IS bad. To fix this you should do an endless lobby against a dudley to learn his frame traps and when you should tech throws. Against dudley you should be throwing out a low forward, it beats all of his moves unless he times them perfectly, other than that I really can’t give you ken footsie tips. You offense is quite good, you need to work on your defense. You also didn’t anti air very much. Dudley’s jumping elbow is quite difficult to anti air, try using standing fierce or anti air with EX shoryuken, this may seem as a waste of meter but you really need to keep dudley away from you. Go to training mode and figure out what anti air you should be using at each range.
Third match:
0:32 He hit you with a kara throw by catching your crouch tech. To beat this you should crouch tech with medium kick, that is, hold down back and press lp,lk,mk.
Overall, you have good combos, hit confirms, and mix ups. Just stop getting hit and thrown and you’ll be really good. You are certainly not a beginner, you should post this in the ken subforum to get advice from ken experts because that is what you need right now.
Good shit level99lilb, nice to see you don’t let them jump in on you… We train some more… Btw, you may want to post that in the Balrog forums…
