I wish another publisher picked this up instead of Sega. I really like the demo and have been looking foward to this game alot. Hopefully I can steal this game, but if it wasn’t for Sega I would by this day one.
If the demo as any indication of the game, I’m gonna have to side with Death Reaper on this one. So far the enemy design, attacks, music and boss fights I’m digging alot. We’ll find out soon enough if the rest is that good.
OTDMC post: I like DMC1 the most as well due to it being new at the time, enemy design and music. I have love/hate relationship with 3. Technically the gameplay is better with all the options that I really dig, but it seems to much like a chore. I played 4 and was blown away since I didn’t have any hope for it at all.
hahah woops i messed up that post. yeah the music is nice. even the music when there’s no battle and its more traditional. but i meant in dmc 3 how they had lame rock with some gay wannabe industrial vocals or whatever that was. i thought the whole thing was too much. Young Dante sucked. the game was fun though. Not as epic and as fun as this one though.
what the fuck. who cares sega is just a publisher, I hate activision, but I bought MW2 as soon as it came out because Infinity Ward knows how to make a good game and they deserve my money. Same thing with platinum.
Should you be voicing your designs to steal this game on SRK?
Maybe activision is really just a publisher, and IW was lazy as shit, or maybe activision is the one that decided the shitty decisions. I’m actually kinda leaning towards IW was lazy, since IW won’t even respond to the situation.
World may never know.
And yes i am talking about the PC version, fuck IWnet
The guy I’m quoting wont buy a certain game because “A” company is publishing it, and that is some dumb ass logic. If you don’t wanna buy the game, don’t buy it because you don’t like it, whether it be from the way it plays, the way it presents itself, whatever.
This dude admits to actually liking the game but wont buy it because a company he doesn’t like is publishing it? That’s just hilarious to me. Like not buying the game is going to hurt Sega? Sega wont feel anything(and they STILL wont release VF5R get over it). If Bayonetta doesn’t sell, the worst case scenario is that Sega will let Platinum Games/CLOVER go, leaving them without a publisher, so basically PG will be left without a publisher. And who knows what would happen after that.
TGC, I play the 360 version, so I’m not really one to have this discussion with, I just used MW2 as an example, because I like IW and still feel they deserved my money. Discussing the goodness or badness of MW2 should stay in the MW2 thread.
Do you think not buying bayonetta is going to SHUT DOWN sega? They didn’t even shut down from the dreamcast for gods sake. Did Capcom shut down because people weren’t buying okami/godhand? No, of course not Capcom just said fuck it and shut down clover and decided to invest their efforts elsewhere, and in this case Sega will cut their losses and sever their publishing deal with platinum and move on to making less risky decisions, which =More dumbass sonic mario at the olympic games, and even worse, no clover style games for a while until platinum picks themselves up again, IF they pick themselves up again. Yeah it hurts the publisher, but they recover by taking it out on the developer.
Edit- I’m going to get rid of that TL:DR because its obviously not getting my point across.
No, it doesn’t, because developers are not paid for sales at all. Devs are paid in accordance to their contracts with their publishers, usually upon successful delivery of milestone builds, like vertical slice, alpha, beta, E3 demo, submission candidate, etc. The only way poor sales will hurt a developer is indirect; the publisher might just not work with this dev again in the future, but a number of things can cause that to happen.
Meanwhile, publishers make their money directly from sales and licensing. Fewer sales means less money, which usually means people get fired or let go. It also means less money to fund other projects in the future.
I had DMC3 played up to the point where i goit the feet weapons and gauntlets. The game felt really repetitive. Almost felt the same for me when I played this, but after a second third and fourth time. I’m coming to like it. I was just button mashing the first time. Now that I’m doing actual combos. I’m liking it. Not sure if I’ll buy, probably will rent.
I was talking specifically about this situation, with Platinum having nothing but a flop (madworld) and a minor release, and Bayonetta being their first big game with 2(3?)years of dev time and resources behind it.
If Bayonetta flops, that might be the end of Platinum, unless whatever their next game is gets really lucky. Sega would be hurt, but they always have sonic at the olympic games or doing whatever he does to soak up their loss.
people are butthurt over no shenmue 3 or no VF5r, which I am too, but I also understand why they wouldn’t bother, after all, those games sold like garbage. I have no beef with Sega they’re cool enough to let another team reinvent house of the dead, and are cool enough to put their efforts on a team spurned by capcom “THE GREATEST COMPANY EVAR.”
Not buying this game doesn’t tell sega “we hate you sega, for not making sequels to those games that didn’t sell!” All it does is tell them that they made a wrong choice in making a deal with platinum, and that the market doesn’t care for these types of games.
And fuck that noise. If you don’t like this game that’s cool but don’t tell me you LIKE the game, but you’re gonna not buy/pirate it instead. Thats just asking to get shit on. BTW I’d rep you if I could stabby. Just for the beard AV alone
