I mean no offense DeathReaper I repsect your opinion I just wanted to say that, that tier list is completely bonkers. It’s so random I can’t make any kind of accurate gauge on what kind of action games you really really like cause that list is all over the place. It’s hilarious lol.
They’re very similar, but GoW2 completely trumps GoW1(and most action games) in level design, pacing, boss fights, and flat out fun.
Its all over the place because the quality of the games are all over the place.
Bayonetta - Pro:The most fun combat ever, lots of great ideas, awesome boss fights, incredibly fun throughout/Cons: Lower framerate on PS3 version, uh…I’m sure theres something else
GoW2 - Pros: Very fun combat(not the deepest by any stretch), variety in level design, perfect pacing, epic feel/Cons: the Peagues flying sections and everything in between them
Viewtiful Joe1/2 -Pros: Beautiful 2d action games with brilliant usage of powers in fighting/platforming/puzzles, and VJ is probably my favorite video game character of all time/Cons: Can get repetitive, will never get Viewtiful Joe 3 that it deserves (;_
DMC3 - Pros: Incredible combat system, mostly fun levels, mostly great boss fights, lots of unlockables/extra character Vergil Cons: TERRIBLE battle music that plays through the whole game, some of the enemy design sucks(Chess pieces, the Fallen), Arkham battle is terrible, the fixed camera changing perspective out of nowhere can be annoying
NGBS - Pros: Not a deep system but a fun one, good challenging level design, good collection of pattern based bosses(unlike NG2 WTF happened to that game), Mission Mode is addictive/Cons: art direction is kinda lacking and all over the place, camera can be a bitch, stupid ass platforming/wallrunning argh, Rachael missions stink
Godhand - Pros: Fantastically fun and deep combat system, funny as hell, boss fights that aren’t afraid to to kick your ass/Cons: Ugly as hell, music is generic, sometimes TOO hard, sometimes stiff controls work against the game.
DMC4 - Pros: My favorite version of Dante with his best look and weapons, a great collection of boss fights, Bloody Palace is a lot of fun, Devil Bringer has some killer animations/Cons: Dull level design that repeats itself twice through the game, platforming/puzzle sections are awful, stupid board game, fighting bosses THREE times, Nero just isn’t as fun and varied as Dante, AWFUL battle music throughout the whole game.
GoW1 - Pros: Epic scale, fun combat, good usage of puzzles, really good soundtrack/Cons: bosses are dull, Hades level is one of the worst of all time, disappointing finale(you open Pandora’s Box and you get really fucking tall. whoop-de-fucking-do), GoW2 makes it look laughable
DMC1 - Pros: Good level design, fun boss encounters, doesn’t have super horrible battle music from its sequels/Cons: combat not nearly as fun as DMC3, fighting bosses up to three times, Mundus sucks, odd control scheme(I seriously have to hold R1 to shoot? GTFO with that shit)
HS - Pros: Fun to play, incredible mo-cap/direction in the cutscenes, beautiful/Cons: short with very little reasons to go back, poor man’s GoW
DI - Pros: It wasn’t that bad/Cons: It wasn’t that good either
Started playing Non Stop Climax Mode. This is gonna make my reflex timing in all games stupid. At first its like, yeah, no biggie, until you go up against Grace and Glory. I died many times
Didn’t realize how broken the Moons were until I equipped it. Going through battles with no damage now… Gonna have to put it aside…
I got the Kilgore weapon yesterday, but about five minutes after getting it, my wife came home with Final Fantasy 13, so I doubt I’m going to get much Bayonetta playing in for a bit…
has anyone here got their hands on the future press limited edition hardcover guide?
Yeah, Non Stop Climax can be a hell of a challenge sometimes. I don’t know how many times I died fighting Grace and Glory or similar, but it wasn’t easy. Totally worth it though, such a great game.
I just remembered how much more I have to unlock, still don’t have the Platinum Ticket, or finished the lost chapter yet. Now that I finished mass effect 2, I should go back and try to wring what’s left out of Bayonetta.
yo guys can i get some good notation for air combos? i’m getting own so bad in hard i’m about to give up and trade it for forza3 or smth.
While Forza 3 is a worthy trade do you have all the weapons in Bayonetta yet? Are you using the special items? You know no one gives a fuck if you use health and attack boost items to make it through. I had to. You do what you got to do to survive man. Are you half way through the game on Hard?
If you answered ‘No’ to any of those then it’s not time to trade it in. Hard is not that hard and if nothing else, use the kilgore glitch to mutilate bosses.
You talking about the moon of mahaa kalaa. It measures risk vs. reward. If you do it right before you get hit, you get that serious damage counter, plus the extended witch time (unless in Non-Stop Climax). I don’t think its broken, but if your execution is epic, you can have some ridiculous fun with it.
If anything would be called “broken”, it would have to be Pillow Talk. Full power, it can kill a Grace or Glory at point blank range upon release.
After playing GOW III, I think the combat system in Bayonetta shines a little brighter.
Still waiting for it to arrive.
Should be here today or tomorrow.
Edit: Mail came today along with no book. So…tomorrow?
I find it very easy to counter enemies, after all, I just to have to parry in the right direction and the parry window isn’t that strict. Free witch time all day.
To be fair, I’ve been using Bat Within too often, so I’m probably getting used to reacting on impact.
No doubt.
The Bat Within and the parry >> counter have virtually the same window for input. If you use the bat within, instead of R2, just hit forward.
MO WITCHES!!!
My brother sees me fighting on NSC and goes WTF! quite often
Sheeeeeit, combos are so easy in this game… of course you can’t go on forever and uninterrupted with them on higher difficulty since some enemies get that attitude of “ok I’m tired of getting hit now.”. I think you just have to become accustomed to knowing when it’s about that time to stop your attacks and dodge or block/parry the enemy’s retaliatory strike. This is also getting to what makes the Moon of Mahaa so damn awesome… I loved staying right there in the enemy’s face, ready to try and block whatever they do.
air fun: right after whatever launches, it’s fun to immediately go up with that afterburner kick, then follow up with whatever you want to do from there, and if I recall, you can jump off the enemy’s body to reset your jumps. The combat system in this game is sooooo wide open and easy to play around with. It seems like the player can just come up with anything and have fun, since you can apparently cancel out anything into something else. Heh, I have to play this again soon…it’s easily one of the greatest action games of all time. It at least makes the list for me.
On NSC, I have stayed in the air for at least 2 minutes. Equip the Kulshedra and have fun with it. That weapon automatically brings the lesser angels (or unarmored larger ones) towards you. After each whip, I jump to reset it.
Combo >> launch >> afterburner>> combo >> whip >> afterburner >> combo >> thrust punch / slash( like the stinger in DMC) >> Whip >> afterburner >> torture >> fall >> shoot to slow down fall >> whip >> shoot >> afterburner (etc)
TOTAL JACKASSERY!!!
This game is gonna be my first platinum, easily only cause I am so into it.
I love the Tetsuzanko finishes
can you give me the exact notations for those long ass combos i see in videos? i kept getting own by grace and glory and courage etc since they kept hitting me out of air combos. and it’s hard to anticipate their attack since they have lots of them … unless you want to continuea bazillion times. shit is like tekken.
Find one for me and I’ll go through it. I have psuedo-mastered this game. I just have to get jump cancelling down. A lot of it for advanced play is dodge offset and jump cancelling. If you are playing Non Stop Climax, then you will need to have to be somewhat proficient at offsetting, as you have No witch time. Also, you gotta know the number of presses in combos prior to the wicked weave. Example
With the setup Bazillions (B)/ Durga (D)(electric) and Kulshedra (K)/ Kilgore (LT)
(B) P,P,P, * P (launches) Afterburner >> P,P,P,P,P >>Weapon Switch (K)> P (Hold), Jump, P,P,P, <–> P (the Tetsuzanko), P (Hold), jump (while jumping switch) (B) P, P, Afterburner kick (Hold K for discharge), switch weapon, (K) P(hold), jump > Torture
I hope that string works. I’m at the office, so I don’t have the game in front of me
With the whip hold, you have to damage enemies that have armor to the point where its removable to use the whip. I use it on the larger unarmored angels quite a bit. If you are about to get tagged parry, switch to the whip and bring them back to you. You can’t do the combos in the air that great if you have the Gaze of Despair equipped or they are angered at you.
I used to be scared of grace and glory. They are full of bitch-assness now
Once you learn thier startup moves, they aren’t that bad really. Just dont get hit, especially in NSC, it’s a rape party. Sharuba is my staple weapon, with Kilgore feet and either Bazilliions w/ Durga feet or Kulshedra w/ Durga.
Even though I ve seen everything in the damn game, it still get to surprise me, Rodin just shungokusatsu my face ! AHAHAH !
The game is just made of WIN.
damn the skate just makes this game a lot more fun. speed skating ftw.
Haven’t gotten the platinum ticket yet. Rodin doesn’t look “too bad”. You just gotta spam dodge, and offset like a MOFO. Pillow Talk would probably be the best bet here.
