Bayonetta demands Dante (DMC) to make her a sandwich. Patch fix available for PS3!

Try spamming dodge and use the dodge offset. I was failing hard during my first run of this game. Use the dodge button like your life depended on it, until you get a better hand on the combat system.

PKP is kinda cheap, but it helps out A LOT.

P -> K -> Dodge Offset (keep holding k until you get some space)-> P

Edit: And yea… I got enough stone to combine into a boulder. My first run was ridiculous.

PPPPPK or PPPPKK gives you 2 wicked weave attacks at the end for a massive damage boost and it’s easy enough to dodge offset them too
Also for fights like Jeanne on Normal, the PPPKKK combo is good as she gets tripped almost always by the first K sweep, and makes her vulnerable to the final wicked weave attack

OH good thank god…I was starting to think that maybe I’m just retarded for this game.

I guess I’ll be shooting for better trophies once I get m’lady upgraded a bunch.

I also got mostly stone trophies for the majority of my chapters during my first playthrough. One thing I can say is that completing the Alfheim portals on hard mode definitely levels up your defensive game. Throughout my entire normal playthrough I felt like I didn’t really improve at all, but now that I’ve gone back and tried to complete each Alfheim portal on hard mode (with Gaze of Despair equipped), I feel like I am much better at this game, since you have to be decent with your dodge skills because you can only be hit a few times in each portal.

ROFL

Yeah I just caught the bad rep the site had

My bad…

The story isn’t to great no, but it’s entertaining, and I have no idea how you can say the characters are lame. As for gameplay, well I have to disagree on that.

I don’t know if it’s the best ever but it certainly feels that way to me personally.

You are insane to put Oni2 above both Oni1 and 3. Also, GG:OD S rank?! That’s a fun game, but that shit is MINDLESS man.

I agree on the rest though.

That video makes me sad. It loaded in like 10 seconds.

Stupid Platinum/Sega.

As for Onimusha…1 was exellent, but Oni 2 was just the definition of a sequel, it exploded the game with everything you could ask for in a sequel. 3 and DoD were great in their own right, but more of the same. So while they were great games, it was like an expansion rather than a sequel. Along the lines of RE 4 and RE5. Great games, but clearly RE 5 just piggybacked off everything that was good about 4. A new generatio of Gungrave could be insane. What happened to their dev team?

Maybe Gungrave OD was a bit of a stretch for now, but at the time THERE WAS NO God of War. There was no Ninja Gaiden. It was the first midless carnage action slasher with a cool story and a nice bit of style.

…DMC1 dude…

Oni 3 is no less different from Oni1 as 2 was different from Oni1. Hell DoD was REALLY different, but it was just too easy.

GG:OD came out after Ninja Gaiden, by 6 months. Anyway, it’s fun but the mindlessness is the problem, it gets boring. Even when it came out it was “just fun” rather than excellent. No way was it ever a top tier action game.

And as Radiant said, DMC1.

Onimusha might/should make a comeback. Capcom, get on that.

I’m not sure. I played the first Gungrave. It was kind of cool but I got pissed off that I bought what I thought was part 2 but was really part 1. Or something like that.

The GG formula though… it’s weak. It’s hard to make gunplay deep when people simply die from a long distance. Bayonetta made it kind of cool but the focus wasn’t on guns so much. I think the best high octane gun actiom game must have the agility of say, Unreal Championship 2 with the straight up near obsessive gun-porn love that Black had. Mix in some Wanted and Max Payne to seal the deal.

You dont think DMC1 was more puzzle/platform based? It was the template for Resident Evil 4, and its quite obvious. I cant say with a straight face that DMC1 was pure action. It was probably the least action oriented of the entire franchise. Something that I miss. The puzzles in DMC4 were dreadful. They werent even puzzles, more like obstacles.

I didnt have an Xbox BTW, so I’ll admit I didnt know what I was talking about with Gaiden. None the less, Gungrave OD was pure kill kill kill from start to finish, and it was stylish. I think it was top tier for the time, still A tier at worst. The story was just too good, I loved the anime cutscenes in between chapters. They were long too.

l DoD had that character tag-MvC type switch thing which was kinda cool. But I found myself just playing pretty much with the girl the whole time. Onimusha 1 was great like I said, but Jubei and the entire story was just like wow. Onimusha 2 was just wow. 3 really took a fresh spin with the time-warp storyline, but at its core it was still an Onimusha game, and if you havent noticed all the Onimushas have a flashback to Onimusha 2…thats not just a coincidence.

Onimusha 2 > Onimusha 1 > Onimusha 3 > Dawn of Dreams

But thats like saying you prefer to be paid in gold coins instead of cash money. They have IMO one of the best franchises, as in a series of COHESIVE titles and all of them were good.

As a whole how would you rate Onimusha, Devil May Cry, God of War and Ninja Gaiden? I think Onimusha really keept the bar high througout the series.

Are we now pretending Resident Evil has puzzles in it?

As for DMC it goes DMC1>DMC4>DMC3.

Well Resident Evil 1 thru Code Veronica actually had puzzles.\

But it was obvious RE4 and 5 were just about the action and not the suspense anymore. Devil May cry as well. The first one actually had riddles, then it sort of dwindles down to quaz-puzzles where a strangly written phrase or poem basically mean “destroy everything in the room” or “kill everything quickly then run” to complete the “puzzle.”

The puzzle in DMC3 with the mirrors was hot. But I cant remember anything especially creative about the puzzles in DMC4.

And you are totally on crack if you think DMC4 is better than DMC3, even the original is better. DMC3 Special Edition stomps out DMC4! What a fucking joke to go chapter 1 to 12, and then backwards from 12 to 1. Fighting the same bosses in order. Are you fucking kidding me?

There’s nothing smart about the “Puzzles” in DMC1 either. DMC1 losing that quasi RE feel has been a big issue with me not liking the series nearly as much as I used to these days.

And DMC3 bores the shit out of me anymore. I played it in December and put it back on the shelf by Mission 8. Nothing in that game outside of bosses and Hell Vanguards is compelling to fight AT ALL. Very boring enemy set. I get thrilled by compelling fights and DMC3 lacks them in spades. DMC4’s not leaps and bounds better but it is better in that respect so it’s better to me. So no I;m not on crack. Infact I’ve probably put infinity more thought into why I like DMC4 better then 3 then a good deal of people who call themselves DMC fans. Also go play DMC3 again and count how many times you traverse the tower from top to bottom. Bet you’ll be surprised. game has more back tracking in it then DMC4 does and you do it with the same guy the whole way through.

DMC1 had puzzles? News to me.

DMC1 just had backtracking for keys and rooms with hazards, not real puzzles. It was way more of an action game than anything, and everyone called it that when it came out. True it wasn’t balls-to-the-wall action all the time, which I agree was good for that game, but it still is mostly an action game. I mean hell when you go to hard and DMD, it just makes the FIGHTS harder.

Story wasn’t too bad I guess, and of course Yasuhiro Nightow’s designs are always ridiculously amazing(Also ROCKETBILLY REDCADILLAC is the best name ever). But even so the action was still way too simple.

oni 3 had guard break, kicking became useful and new ways to Issen, but chain Issen was just too easy. You can’t deny it was the most different from previous Onimusha games.

But yeah I agree that overall the series is amazing.

as series I’d say Oni>DMC>NG>GoW

DMC has DMC1 but I was not a HUGE fan of DMC3, though it was fun, same with DMC4. NG is fun but the system is a little be boring and unbalanced, never played NG2 but I always hear the camera is horrendous. In GoW’s case, it’s fun but it jsut feels like a rental. The action is a little boring after a while. I’m starting to see Radiant’s point about GoW being kinda puzzle/platformer/action. Much more so than DMC1 was =P

The easiest way to earn about 800k-1m halos is to equip selene’s light, gaze of despair, and durga on hands( feet don’t matter) and fight the chapter 7 boss. Just mash punch button and try to keep your combo going as long as possible. Your combo points won’t hit 9999 until the end of the fight when you’re wailing on his head.

the dinosaur part is more than enough to warrant a “puzzle”

took me long enough to realize I had to hit the fireball back at him.

on that note, I do want a new Onimusha. Considering now Keji went back on his word on “stopping at 3” and tried to backtrack by saying “last in that series”. Dawn of dreams didn’t really appeal to me and playing a few stages felt boring. (plus 2 player co op? lolnothanks.)

as much as Onimusha 2 was good, I still liked 1 for some reason. Probably just because of Samanouske. 2 just amps up stuff from 1 and adds Jubei and it works.

and i’m actually curious as to why people don’t like DMC3. I thought it was good but a bit overrated on how hard it was.

DoD would have been gdlk…if it wasn’t so easy, and I played the Japanese version. By the time I got to the end, I hated the game, all because they decided to give us Americans those stupid ass long ass health bars for EVERY boss. That dragged my enjoyment for the game straight to hell.

I always thought Oni 3 was the strongest, because of the changes in combat. The story was dumb as hell, but it had ole Sam and that badass intro. Can’t forget the mother fucking PROFESSIONAL. Only Oni game I beat all of the modes in.

I didn’t like DMC3 as much, partially because it lost the RE feel DMC one had, and because the enemies were so fucking retarded. Don’t get me wrong, you’ll never hear me say DMC1 had better bosses, because it sure as fuck didn’t: aside from Phantom. I like RE, so I don’t mind the backtracking, but DMC3 took it a little overboard. People like Tatsamura Black, something Panda, Briole (i forget her name) and one other were like my fucking idols when that shit dropped, and I think seeing the cool shit they did helped me over look stuff like how the enemies weren’t fun to fight on DMD or hard.

As a series, I always thought Onimusha was more consistent, just because it kept some type of atmosphere.

I thought DMC4 was just terrible and it had nothing to do with backtracking.

Shinobi, was the king of nothing but action. No Frills. Kill or die.
